True but hey, they may have even rerecorded those songs all together and we may not even know, they did record Rhinestone and Slip!

Oh god, I wish Mike/LP would release more of the pre Hybrid Theory tracks...They probably have the Xero tracks with Chesters vocals in good quality and I can only imagine what else they never released...Slip, Blue, So Far Away, and She Couldnt were kept pretty kuch 100% hidden for all those years...I can only imagine what else they are keeping!

ATS still takes the cake for me.

Your Top 10 Favourite Linkin Park songs
ElvishSpirit replied to RiderSSPU's topic in Everything Linkin Park
1. The Little Things Give You Away. I'm surprised alot of people are putting this down, I thought I was kind of alone in this situation. Beautiful song. What a fricken ballad they wrote. Every second of this song is worth hearing. The second that opening acoustic guitar kicks in, if I am in the right mood, chills will go right down me. The chorus is so orchestral. The end is so epic. etc. 2. Iridescent. Deciding if my other 2 favorites from ATS will make it in here, but I know that this one will. This song is so good and mellon-collie. Its like that one tear that comes down your face. But just one. It makes you think. 3. Papercut. ITS LIKE A- This song will always be chest pounding, head banging and epic to me. Its like that old tv show you can't stop watching, when you know so many better things are on. Chester's straight yelling in the chorus I've always found to be great. 4. Reading My Eyes. Seriously. I wish there was a better version of this song. But the version I have is remastered by somebody on here or some lp community (whoever it is, thank you). This might be the best rapverse-chorus-rapverse-chorus-bridge-chorus song they've ever done. I pray that this song gets a re-release in the future. Maybe not them rerecording it or anything, but I'm sure (hoping) there is an old Chester version from 98. 5. Krwlng (or Crawling in general). Krwlng is so sad. It makes the emotional appeal of the song go from the regular teen-angst presented in the original song to, OH MAN, this is the saddest thing I've ever heard. But Crawling is their only really big song that I can still listen to and not want to change it right away. 6. P5hng Me A*wy (or Pushing Me Away in general). P5hng Me A*wy does the opposite that Krwlng does. P5hng Me A*wy turns the song from sadness and pity to anger. Very distorted anger. But I enjoy Pushing Me Away alot as well. Its one song I'm always going to love by them. 7. She Couldn't. I think this song might just be more appealing to me (and anyone who listens to it) because 1. Its so unlike the Linkin Park that was present at the time and 2. It was so randomly found and kept hidden from the fans for so long that you felt really cool and indie for knowing it xD. Regardless, She Couldn't is very sad, and it is as if Chester is talking to you, not about himself. Esp if a breakup was recent. 8. Numb. I was thinking I could get away with one major hit, but I couldn't. I can't deny my love for Numb, no matter how old I am or those around me get. Its written so simply and Chester belts out alot in the bridge. <3 9. The Catalyst. I remember the first day I heard The Catalyst and I was like "...seriously?" because it was so unradio-friendly. 2 years later I couldn't think any more differently then I do now. I love the beat of this song, it constitutes for a 80-mph car race down a brightly lit city. And it feels really good to sing along to. 10. Blackout. Just take what I said about The Catalyst. I feel the exact same way about Blackout. ATS in general is a great car-at-night album in general. I'm surprised I didn't struggle more with this top 10. Honorable 11-15- 11. Carousel 12. Across The Line 13. My December 14. Breaking The Habit 15. Shadow Of The Day Pre HT -3 HT -4 Met -2 M2M -3 ATS -3 -
Are there other Pre-HT fans like me?
ElvishSpirit replied to ElvishSpirit's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I agree. But also I feel like at first (this is very noticeable to me on Slip and Blue) that Chester was actually trying to play and sound like Mark's role, because he kind of WAS in Mark's shoes at the time. When I listen to Grey Daze, I hear a very different Chester altogether, much more melodic and grungy then the early 1998 Chester. Another example is listening to both Rhinestones. Both Mark and Chester have similar voices at the time, it wasn't until Hybrid Theory that Chester's voice was all his own. -
I feel so odd when I listen to Linkin Park. I like everything just like everyone else on here, but one thing I always go back to is the demos and tracks before the album Hybrid Theory came out. Ranging from the Xero tape to the Hybrid Theory EP to the 8 and 9 track Chester demos to the 1998 LPU11 demos, I love them all so much. I even have a playlist exclusively for this era. I just feel like the freshness and the somewhat lo-fi sound they gave out was great. They had 90s anger. Not early 2000s "my parents hate me" anger. Genuine anger that Kurt Cobain and company gave out. Maybe it is just me because I am such a big 90s grunge fan besides Linkin Park, and yes, I also love Grey Daze with all my heart. And maybe because I am looking at the date of the songs and say "THIS OWNS". But stuff like She Couldn't, Slip, Blue, Reading My Eyes, Fuse, Stick N' Move, Carousel, and Crawling just sounds so good to me when I listen to it. And I pray that whenever they release Underground, that there is some 90s stuff on there. And this year there was 4 tracks and I ate those up very fast. ^^ Am I the only one who might consider this their favorite era of Linkin Park?

Little Things. Most epic song they ever wrote.

I actually did this with Figure 0.9. I used to be a LP mixer in ye old youtube days. We were quite a community.

My guess is 1 of 2 routes - 1. Dance-y. Burn It Down is very dance-y. But from what the gang has been saying, it sounds unlikely. 2. Like Minutes To Midnight, but with the writing capabilities of ATS and album flow like ATS.
-
I voted A Thousand Suns. HT - I like it. Sure. But in my opinion, you listen to HT to hear a few songs, and then change it. What songs those are vary per person, but I think it is too song-by-song. Also when I listen to HT it just makes me want to listen to Pre-HT stuff, which I then do. Mete - See Hybrid Theory. But I think it does flow a bit better. M2M - Least favorite. Blargh. Too many of my "least favorites" in that album. Bleed It Out, What I've Done, No More Sorrow, Given Up, Leave Out All The Rest, In Between, etc. Even though ironically, The Little Things Give You Away is on there, which is by far one of my favorite Linkin Park songs. ATS - I think Linkin Park's previous albums are more fan-pleasing. And like some, I don't like the concept of 6 interlude "songs". But this is the best ALBUM, man. Not only are great great songs (IMO) like Iridescent, Blackout, Waiting For The End, Burning In The Skies, and The Catalyst on here, but they all flow perfectly into one another. Man, I love Pre-HT LP the best though. HT EP, the 8 and 9 track demos, the 1998 demos, that stuff OWNS.

Like Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana, Linkin Park has quite a decent amount of material over their careers that has never seen the light of day, officially or leaked. Its been hinted at before by the band, expressing over 100 songs being made during the M2M sessions, and the proof is LPUX which featured a majority of unreleased songs that NO ONE has ever gotten a hold of previously. (not to mention, I'm sure vocals have been applied to SOME of those tracks that we only got instrumentals for) So I guess the original/topic question still stands, but how do you think LP would release these tracks?
-
at first I didn't like it, but more I just consider it standard LP. I will always like everything LP does on an equal level. I've heard every song (that they have released), every demo, every thing that LP has to offer and I just consider them overall brilliant. I like and dislike ATS for the same reason. You need to listen to the ALBUM. You can't just single out a song (although I consider Iridescent and Blackout exceptions). And while the transitions are cool, I kinda just find them an excuse to not have more songs. Honestly I think ATS has 9 single tracks, and as an album has 14 tracks. Wait, why did I say 14, you ask? THE MESSANGER DOESN'T FIT AT ALL. It seems like it was just slapped on last minute and could even work as a hidden track, but not a finale. I think The Catalyst is a decent finale, considering its "that song" that everyone heard back when it was released. Its a beautiful album as a full listen. Not so beautiful when you want full single songs.

How LPU Cd's have changed and LPU11
ElvishSpirit replied to NickDuffy's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I've been thinking about this since ATS came out... Have it be a remix album, but instead of being like Reanimation, have it be UNanimation. Meaning, cut back on all the electronic sounds that was very dominating on the album and just have drums, guitar, bass, piano, and dj scratching (and vocals...obviously). Imagine a harder more basic Blackout? Its something I'd like to see 8 tracks - Burning In The Skies When The Come For Me Robot Boy Waiting For The End Blackout Wretches And Kings Iridescent The Catalyst obviously you can't do much with The Messenger lol. -
I'm pretty sure LP at this point can release an album every week, with so many unreleased songs and whatnot. xD
