Well it’s not like she’s hosting the god damn Oscar’s! She’s a rock singer who might be joining a rock band.

and it seems like the only song of theirs that ever really gained some main stream traction is 12 years old

the Instagram cleanup is what fully got me on board with the rumor.

iirc regular poster in the chat box is the one who said it was her a few days ago. Mentioned the Instagram likes/follows etc and said that people in the industry know and have been talking about it. He didn’t go in to any more detail but he was very confident about it and has talked about her a ton since then including using some of her song titles in his messages (idk if this was intentional or not) Also on Tuesday night, about 24 hours after we (or at least I) heard her name for the first time, she wiped most of her Instagram only leaving up only 6 photos. So it seems like she is preparing for something and maybe wanted to clean up her page a bit right before she started getting a bunch of new followers. She also liked Joe’s post today of the LP logo. As far as I know that’s the extent and origin of the rumor. I hadn’t been posting or lurking here for quite a while, until a few weeks ago. So I don’t know the person who posted it well at all, but he seemed to be well known around here, and no one really questioned him when he talked about it.

I definitely don’t disagree with that at all.

My final thoughts about today after thinking about it and reading others reactions for a few hours. A lot of people thought they were going to a part of something really special today with thousands of other people who care as much as them. The thought of them coming back is a very emotional thing for all of us, and for years we were uncertain about whether or not it would ever happen again. While I’m not personally super upset about it, I think they made the wrong call. Today should’ve been a fun day that brought everyone in the community together for the first time in years. If they wanted to do it in a way where it’s an announcement of an announcement of an announcement or whatever, then I think part 1 of the process being a literal countdown clock was probably a mistake. like I’ve said, I don’t mind the anticipation personally, and I think half the fun is this brief period of time where everyone is speculating, deciphering, and dreaming about what’s gonna happen, so I don’t mind another week of it.. and we did get a date today so it wasn’t completely nothing.. but I really do understand a feel awful for anyone upset right now, and who went out of there way to be there for the end of that countdown today. The good news though, is that there is still good news coming. It’s not like they just upgraded the website to 4K. The announcement is still going to be what most of us are hoping it will be, it’s just a little more delayed than we thought, and there was a bit more to it than anticipated.

Okay cool. That’s all I was curious about. So much happened all at once that I thought I might’ve missed something.

I can totally see this. I feel like back when the VMA’s were more relevant, they’d always end with a surprise performance from a band that had been out of the spotlight for awhile. I’d also like to add to this that I’m maintaining my theory that they will perform on SNL.

everyone was inexperienced in that regard up until they did it for the first time. If it’s someone that has experience touring in general, then I’m sure they’ll be fine.

Once again, you were the one who came in first belittling anyone that might have a different onion and quite literally saying that we were “factually wrong” for disagreeing. If you don’t see how your first posts come across as confrontational, then idk what to tell you buddy. I really am sorry that you haven’t been able to move on and can’t come in to this next chapter of Linkin Park with an open mind, especially since this is clearly a band you are very passionate about. And I’m not saying this sarcastically. I get it, it’s hard, and everyone processes things like this differently. We all wish Chester was still here and know how important he was to the band.

that’s not how you started this though. You came in already pissed off and acting like anyone who dares to call this Linkin Park is wrong, and then acted shocked that we disagreed and didn’t appreciate how you came busting in trying to gate keep what you think Linkin Park is. The fact is, Linkin Park is coming back with a new singer. That’s not an opinion. If you don’t like it that’s fine, but it does not change the fact that “Linkin Park” will continue to exist without Chester. Just because it isn’t the exact same, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist at all anymore, and nobody here was trying to say that it would be the exact same. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, and it’s completely fine that you feel that way. Just don’t be that weird guy that tells other people how to be a real fan, and that anyone who disagrees is wrong. Let those who are excited be excited. And then nobody will come back at you heated and we can all respect each others opinions and move on.

and factually the next iteration of the band is what gets announced Wednesday.. and it will be Linkin Park.
