Eh. I don't hate it, but lyrically its the same words over and over again. Kinda disappointing.

This is exactly how I've felt about his rapping lately. Lost In The Echo is a great example. Mike used to throw down on shit like Carousel and Reading My Eyes. High Voltage too. Burn It Down's bridge is really dumbed down...it seems to dumb it down to get the simple shit on the album for the radio. Why doesn't he toss on the nasty underground raps he used to have? Until It Breaks, I will admit, did have some good verses but the song is so all over the place it's easily my least favorite studio song they've done

A thought occurred to me - what if GATS is like the LGM or Wretches and Kings of this cycle?

 

I mean, it's definitely hyping the album up, but not with "mainstream" fans. This track was directed to the hardcore fans, who are gonna freak out about it and share it. "Old LP" fans are gonna see it and like it bc they're "back". Three months out, there's already a lot of buzzing around for the new album.

 

April would be a great time to release a radio friendly single and do the music video and everything for that, like they did with Burn it Down. This would target the people out there who are casual LP fans, along with people who aren't technically LP fans.

 

- The single gets traction in April, powerhouse in May with combined Hardcore, Returning (OldLP), and mainstream/new fan audiences.

- Album releases in June to built up hype. Transformers 4 song also released to promote movie, adds to hype and sales.

 

Actually, they may pull TF1/WID combo and have just an album song in the movie, combining the two songs I mention.

I actually was ready to go to Live 8 but last minute I couldn't go. I know it's not the same as the Meteora Tour, but I can somewhat feel your pain. Lol. Also in 2005, I had no idea I'd have to wait until mid 2007 for the band to tour again.

Wow. I mean wow. Definitely not what I was expecting from this. Chester's voice sounds like the damn overprocessed shit on the Dead By Sunrise album. What in the world? Same On The Inside and Cry Cry are perfect examples.

 

I've never liked STP so I guess this is not my type of jams. Not impressed one bit. Sounds as generic as it gets.

We are talking about band that their real name was Hybrid Theory, because they're mixing Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic music. They already did Rock and Hip-Hop collaborations, so it's not surprising at all.

 

People who don't like the song, just don't like it. No need to defend the band, it'll not change their thoughts anyway.

Well said, personally I like the lyrics and all, but am not much of a fan of edm, so the Aoki portion of the song kinda bores me. I respect how guys like Aoki or Skrillex (is that one person or a group?) create their own beats, sounds, etc... just not my thing! To each his own!

Chester's performance here is damn weak, especially compared to the performance on the LPU CD, but I guess you can't be on top everyday.

 

 

I can't believe some of you are whining about how it's getting released in pieces... I'm a part of the Deftones fans community, and if we had that kind of proshot rarity getting released, we wouldn't mind if it were in pieces. Just create a playlist when the full show is up, watch the full shit and that's it, won't degrade the experience at all.
