AO = new music that brings nothing new to the table and it's basically a copy paste of the trendy sound of pop punk fake revival.

Already Over is definitely not a pop punk track. Obviously you don't know genres. It's clearly an alternative rock song.

Nice, he seemed to confirm there's more music on the way even though it's not an album on his discord post.

Yeah, more music is on the way which is awesome. Thank god Already Over is not a standalone track. I also read he's gonna tour at some point so it's not like somebody said here he's semi retired.

He hasn‘t said that LP is „not done“ in ages if I am not mistaken. Also it is totally possible that they were working on new material, they didn‘t liked it and later ob decided that it‘s not working for them anymore.
I am not saying that this is the case or whatever, just want to point out that those points are not a 100% indicator that they are not done.

I'm not saying he has said that but it seems like he's not interested in LP anymore. He's doing a milion things right now except LP. They could have done a small acoustic event over the past 2 years to let us know they're still here.  I agree with you. They've done some music in the studio but later decided it's not working anymore. Mike is still talking about "I'm looking for a new path for me in music". It definitely shows LP is not his priority.

i'm starting to feel like it's happening a Public Relationship shenanigan to increase Mike's mainstream acknowledgement.

It's just something that occurred to me right now, that management will find ways to make Mike look much more like a frontman and recognizable person on the mainstream media. That way he could gather more strength to carry and lead LP in the eyes of the general public as a rockstar frontman.

No. I think from his statements it's clear that LP is probably done. He's doing a lot of different stuff right now and making music with LP is not what he wants. Just my opinion. I hope I'm wrong but I think I'm not.

It's incredible how this is the perfect opportunity to LP settle the ground to a future comeback. They can make it as a full cycle 'closer' (in a very respectfull way). Make it big, make everyone know about it.

Then in the next couple of years they can come back like a rebirth. Great way to start a new beggining.

In the next couple of years? Next year hopefully. They will not be on hiatus until 2027. Anyway I'm really excited about the anniversary thing.

Here's to hoping that we're getting at least one reunion supershow.

In a situation like this, it would be kind of cool to have guest singers in rotation like they did for the Chester memorial show.

What reunion? They've been working on a new music so they're going to play shows again. Phoenix said they're not done. Or do you mean just Hybrid Theory show with multiple singers? Sorry I'm a little bit confused.

We need to start accepting that if they continue that is what LP stuff is going to start sounding like lol, or close to. How different can it sound really without Chester ?

you don't know anything, man. Why LP should sound like Mike's stuff? That's absolute bullshit. They can do pretty much anything. Hard rock, rock, rap, alternative etc. There is only one limitation with Mike as a frontman and that's screaming and really high notes. Besides that, he can do anything.

This is a sleepy setlist, right? I remember when Chester said during THP era they wanted to make an album with a lot of energy. They didn't want make an album full of mid-tempo songs, because the shows would be super boring and sleepy and they're known for high energy sets.

I don't think Mike wanna play sleepy and boring shows. He wants to play One Step Closer or Given Up, but they don't know how. You just can't ignore the whole catalog of music and play only 20 songs over and over again. It doesn't make any sense.

I don't wanna write my dream setlist cause we don't know who's going to sing. I hate when people say "they don't have to play heavier songs. LP could play only softer and radio stuff". Fuck this bullshit. Seriously.

  9.

I absolutely agree with Hahninator and graveguard. If they make a comeback, we're gonna get a new studio music at first. Anyway do you know anything about LPU19? Will they do a same thing like the last year? Just new LPU merch in online store and digital membership?

True but LP wasn’t a bubblegum pop act back then like they were in 2017. And Machine Gun Kelly might possibly be the worst musical artist of all time.

Are you deadly deaf? Bubblegum pop is the worst crap ever and LP will never play this garbage. Have you watched some interviews with Mike from OML era? He said in one interview if people think we made some music like „oh baby I wanna have sex with you“ then they are completely wrong. We would never make this kind of music. In another interview he said „a lot of songs on the album can make the listener think of old songs by The Cure or Tears For Fears.“ There is definitely some awesome stuff on OML. On the other hand there is some worst LP stuff ever. I like 6 songs and that's all. And if you're talking about genres, there is some rock stuff on that album. Talking To Myself is indie rock, Nobody Can Save Me is pop rock or Heavy is soft rock mixed with synth pop. So please, don't tell me LP is a bubblegum pop act.

seriously dude? how long have you been a fan of Linkin Park? he can't bring the rock energy in the band, that's totally a false statement. maybe it's your own opinion but for me, Mike's rock harder, his stage presence. if you watched their old shows back in 2000 till now. the hype and energy, totally insane.

doesnt mean he doesn act like rock n roll style, doesnt have a tatoo, he's not rock enough.

I've been a LP fan since March 2003. So 16 years. That's a very long time. I know what you mean, but I thought something different. Mike is awesome and he's very energetic live, but I would rather see a typical rock vocalist fronting the band. That's just my opinion. By the way a lot of songs were made for two voices. How can they play In The End, Bleed It Out or Faint without a second voice? It's impossible.

  12. I don't think LP will continue only with Mike as the lead singer. He said many times he's not able to sing all LP catalog. And no, fans won't sing Chester's parts. That could work only at Hollywood Bowl, but not as a permanent thing. LP needs a strong rock vocalist. Somebody who has a wide range like Chester, but great person at the same time. I don't know who is gonna be that dude, but they definitely need a new guy. I love Mike, but he can't bring the rock energy and vibe into the band. Before OML he said in some interview „I'm not a rock guy who raps, I'm a rap dude in the band.“ I've seen him twice on PT Tour and he was awesome in terms of vocals and energy, but it's not enough for being a LP singer.  We'll see what happens in a next few months.

  13. I agree with Kilmer. Each album is really different. THP is the heaviest album, for sure. It's heavy and definitely enough agressive. I love this album. GarretLP, I don't know man, but you can't expect from Linkin Park heaviness like Suffocation or Behemoth. Besides Mike said THP was influenced by 90's rock and hardcore. Nu-Metal is simple on playing, but it can be heavy as other metal genres. Meteora is heavier than HT. You can hear it. Mike said at the time they wanted to be heavier on Meteora. Don't Stay or Figure 09 bridge? Heavy as fuck. Figure 09 demo is even heavier. Most brutal screaming from Chester ever. Since MTM every track on the albums is different from the next one, but each album includes rock songs. Yes, I count OML as well. Has anyone heard separate tracks from OML? Like guitar tracks? Guitars in Heavy and Battle Symphony sound great, but electronic sounds and mixing totally killed them. I definitely want more rock from LP in the future. I hope they're gonna recruit a new killer singer. I love Mike, but he's not a rock singer. I've thought about it like 100 times, but he's not able to sing like a rock singer. He can do his own shit (love PT), but not LP songs.

  14. Sorry...but OML is a full blown pop record. Theres nothing rock or alternative about it. Its as radio friendly and generic as it gets. Its the record they chose to make. I personally hate it, but there are millions of people who like it, and I get that. But to claim its not a pop record is just crazy.

OML is the worst LP album. I agree. It's a pop record in a way that every song can be a radio single, but it doesn't mean it's Taylor Swift album. Mike said in some interview that couple songs have Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears vibe. Anyway, what genre is Talking To Myself or Nobody Can Save Me in your opinion? TTM sounds like something from The Killers and NCSM is like new LOATR.

  15. I wouldnt even say they are in a rock band. Lol. One More Light was like Disney Radio pop with every track. Like pop music that little kids listen to type stuff. Living Things was like half rock. ATS wasnt rock. But I guess you are right cuz the majority of their albums are rock (HT, M, MTM, THP). But good point. They arent equipped to play metal. I like ATS and LT a lot but I wouldnt call them rock at all. It just comes down to Brad and Rob not really being able to play metal. Phoenix, not sure about him, you dont hear his bass anyways in anything besides like Given Up. He definitely seems like hes more into metal than Rob and Brad though. Chester of course he was the most metal but hes gone now. Mike is weird like he used to like heavy stuff but hes basically gone full pop and doesnt look like hes going back ever.

Are you really LP fan? You sound like metal elitist. What LP play in your opinion? Jazz? They consider themselves as a rock band. OML is definitely not Disney pop. Whole album is soft, but it doesn't mean it's full pop. There is some indie rock, indie folk, synthpop etc. ATS is electronica/alternative/rock. LT is pretty much same, but it's more hooky. None of the band members is metalhead. Brad grew up on thrash metal, but he likes more alternative and rock stuff. Rob is definitely more into jazz and rock. Phoenix..It's hard to say and Mike? He is a rap dude at first, but he loves everything. You know that. And he's gone full pop? LOL. K. Flay, Grandson or Phantogram is definitely not pop music.

  16. While I really like The Hunting Party and really appreciate what Mike tried to do there, I did expect a lot more from that album based on their commentaries before the album came out. I agree it wasn't that heavy and the thing that got me excited about Cross Off is that I finally got to hear Chester doing the kind of music I was hoping from The Hunting Party (or a follow up album). In terms of technique, the band had evolved a lot while recording The Hunting Party and I felt like One More Light was such a disappointment because I hoped the band would try to push themselves further. Anyway, back to The Hunting Party, like Geki said, Rob and Brad aren't metal musicians, they would never be able to handle a song like Cross Off (hell, they got hurt while playing The Hunting Party songs live) and Mike is the kind of guy who thinks every album needs a ballad every few songs and every song needs a slow part. Just read that interview where he is listening to Reign In Blood by Slayer and you'll see what I'm talking about. I guess it isn't even a fair comparison because the guys playing Cross Off (from Trivium and Lamb Of God) spent their entire careers playing this kind of music, so it's no wonder they delivered such a good product.

Rob and Brad are not metal musicians, because they're in a rock band. They're not top musicians, but they're good. They did a great job with THP. I didn't know they are able to play like that. THP has the best riffs in a whole LP catalog. A Line In The Sand, Mark The Graves, Rebellion or GATS...all fucking great songs. Drumming is also outstanding. I think they're more „at home“ if they play songs like No More Sorrow or Given Up, but like I said they did a great job with THP. What did you expect from THP? To be heavy like Death or Slayer? It was enough heavy for LP. How can you compare guys from Trivium (my favourite metal band ever) or Lamb Of God to LP? They're playing metal all the time and they have unbelievable technical skills. That is another level of musicianship. LP guys are comparable to Papa Roach or Korn, but definitely not to metal masters like Metallica or Slayer.

  17. Uhm, source? Havent seen anyone of the 5 saying that he doesnt want to continue at all.

http://loudwire.com/mike-shinoda-linkin-park-future-ac-dc-situation/He didn't mention anybody, but it was just model situation how would they react in real situation.

    And from Billboard interview:

So where do things stand with Linkin Park right now?

We'll let everybody know when there's a clear message. We all have different, varying degrees of interest and stamina right now, and I don't want to hold anybody to anything they can't or they don't want to do. We still talk all the time.

  18. Castle of Glass at KROQ is literally exactly how we'd get it at an LP show. Add the band in and it's good to go. I love that performance.

Mike's singing voice just from May to right now has improved. I wonder if he has done extensive practicing between Identity and now.

Give the man the full world tour to work up these other LP songs and we are going to be set. I've been very observant of his singing over the years... remember when he'd kind of shy away from the mic on Victimized in 2012? Now he is all over the mic and is embracing the "lead singer" type of role on stage, even in his solo shows. I mean the difference between Identity and now is significant enough to mention for sure.

The confidence is growing, look at him on Ghosts. He used to only have this confidence when rapping or behind the keyboard, when he did vocals. Now it's across the stage singing. I'm seeing a transformation happening with Mike and it's great.

Guys, why are we still talking about this? Mike said it's not feasible to sing Chester's songs including him. Next thing, even more important is the band is not on the same page in terms of continuation without Chester. They can't continue with only 3 or 4 members. It won't happen. From Mike's January statement I thought all members want to continue. Apparently we were wrong.

  19. It indeed sounds like he is not interested in a replacement vocalist, he is really blunt with his words. He says there is just simply no one that can take Chester's place or sing his songs. "No one is Chester." We have to remember it's not just a singer they would have to replace, it's a soulmate, a literal best friend (hell, more than a best friend, like a brother). It reminds me of Mike talking to Zane Lowe last month saying, "you'd have to go on tour with the new person....ehhhhh."

I don't know, man. I have a weird feeling. I feel like in few months or maybe year Mike might say „We can't replace Chester and we don't wanna play without him. We're done.“ :'(

  20. Liked his thoughts on replacing Chester. Nobody can. Continue the band as a 5 piece and I'll support it 100%. Mike is fully capable of fronting the band, which we've learned even more so now with Post Traumatic, he can sing well. He has sang well for a few years now, though. I would never support replacing Chester as a 15 year fan of the band who has seen them 19 times and owns thousands of dollars worth of merch. Can't be done.

It's also funny that Mike said he wasn't very good with hip hop. One of Chester's absolute BEST vocal performances of his entire career was the ending of Slow Ya Roll after the last chorus, the Young Buck track. I also loved his verses on Blackout and Sorry For Now, they were fantastic to me. I also loved him rapping Sabotage in 2012. B12 was also great. Hmm. Lol. Chester was just great at anything.

What did he say? I can't listen this podcast because of snippets of new songs. So new singer is not an option for the band?

  21.

personally i think he's fine as he is and shouldn't change. just continue with new ways to play specific songs

Playing 90 minutes show full of medleys is better in your opinion? He can do that in his solo set, but not at LP shows. I didn't like THP set from 2014. That set was full of medleys and shortened songs. I think what they did in 2015 was way better.
