I've thought about it several times, even I vastly dislike OML, musically it was the last thing remaining to do for them. They've done metal, alt rock, EDM, folk... But not a pure pop record

Tell me you weren't listening to pop music in 2003 without telling me you weren't listening to pop music in 2003

Or 2007... Or 2010... Really, the only time LP bucked the trend of what was charting at the time was The Hunting Party, and that was a concerted effort.

You guys make me laugh. LP is not releasing music this year, every time Mike mentions something you run with it to the max lol.

It's not just based on Mike mentioning something, but more of a gut feeling.

Him being super quiet these past few months doesn't strike me as something he'd do if it were a solo project. That makes me think the band's doing something. There was that outreach effort last year with the messages from the band. There've been all these little things that hint to the band toying around with things. My gut feeling is we'll have a song late this year.

I just get the sense that things have been slowly brewing over in the LP camp. I hope I'm not wrong.

    If it's fucking NFT's I'll cry.

It certainly seems that way with what Mike is hinting at. His comments about LP needing a Discord for more than Meteora, Meteora 20 is only one of the reasons to get hyped, etc.... sounds like LP will be doing something. But no tour.

Personally, since some time last year I've felt like 2023 is the year we're going to see some kind of single and maybe one or two shows to promote it. I can understand them not wanting to tour. But a small, intimate show doesn't seem too out of left field. (And doesn't count as a tour).

Stuff to basically get the rust off, get people excited again, before they go back into the studio for an album or whatever.

  5. Wikipedia, no citation, and this is worthy of news?

I wouldn't jump the horse just yet.

My fake senses are off the charts. Anyone can edit wikipedia. However, props for mentioning to take everything with grains of salt-- but this should be taken with an entire truckload of salt. I'd be shocked if they were real, judging from the source.

And as for what they'd gain from it: Lulz?

  6. @m_shinoda ALL CAPS EVERYTHING #BurnItDown #LivingThings @linkinpark

I'm pretty sure that's what this means. Mike is being so vague. Though with the PreOrder of the album on Monday, its the only thing I can assume.

    "LIVING THINGS"

    Thoughts on the album title?

    Mike is being so vague.

    Mike is being so vague.

Don't freaking jump to conclusions where there are none. kthnx.

    This. Is. NOT. A. CONFIRMATION.

Therefore why is this in the news section. I mean, goddamn.

  7. Well seeing as how that radio station (Hot 99.5) said the album was almost finished and coming out in 2012 when the album actually IS almost finished and coming out in 2012, logically I see this as Adam's way of saying that WAAF is correct! ;)

    So true!

  8. And this is coming from a person that thinks that "Meteora is one of the greatest albums of all time"..

    *facepalm*

And had large obnoxious horrible blue text in his sig saying we should all forget ATS for a long period of time. Egotistical? Yep. Elitist? Yep.

    *headdesk*

  9. yeah but Blink-182's album and Foo Fighters album were better

this argument always comes up. I'd say technically they aren't selling out because the album sales were weak compared to last three albums but it still was a "bad change" imo

so not selling out, but still

I liked MTM much better than ATS

However-- that is indeed your opinion. I, and a lot of other fans, don't think it's a "bad change". Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a bad thing.

Just because a band puts out something that you don't like doesn't inherently make it bad. It's good music. Just not your kind of thing. It's still Linkin Park.

I, for one, love everything LP has come out with. HT/Reanimation/Meteora/MTM/ATS. I want them to keep on doing the music they want, and not listen to what people want them to sound like. It's just more exciting that way-- you never know what they're going to do next.

Love it, or hate it, you can't deny that Linkin Park is a unique band in how they change from album to album-- even with keeping the same kind of sound between Hybrid Theory and Meteora, they pulled off plenty of new, exciting things that kept everything fresh. They know how to make good music, regardless of genre-- but the genre hopping I think is what people complain about, because not many other bands ((That I know of)) change constantly each album, constantly reinventing their sound.

I think you're in it for more "Rock" than anything else, which is why you hated ATS-- because it wasn't in your genre preferences. It came completely out of left field. I, for one, just like to sit back and enjoy the ride. I was originally in it for the rock too-- but Linkin Park have brought so much more to the table than that in the past few years, it really is quite amazing. I want them to keep on doing what they want to do, without constricting themselves to a single mindset. However-- As such, I don't mind if they work in some of their old sound into anything, because I know that Linkin Park will keep things fresh. The most exciting thing is that you just don't know what to expect with new songs. I love that feeling.

  10. They sold out but wait to listen the album, maybe we will have a good surprise.

No, they didn't sell out. Anyone who suggests such a thing is... Well, to put it frankly, an idiot. They're making the music they want to make. That's the opposite of selling out.
