Jeez, now I feel bad for getting people's hopes up! It's probably not gonna happen guys-- but it is pretty fun to think about.

I know some bands do release a greatest hits compilation and include a brand new track recorded specifically for that release. So it's completely new studio recorded track and not taken from any previous recording sessions.
I think the user is specifically talking about in the case of a comeback. Not just a new thing recorded specifically for the release.

Could they accomplish that with a recent studio recording of Looking for an Answer?
They could-- I remember the last we heard about it was that Mike had in fact polished it up and done a recording but the rest of the band/maybe Mike himself too wasn't happy with it so it lingered. If they got over that hurdle, I'd imagine it'd be quite interesting.

Track 14 being a surprise new single from the band recorded recently would be the biggest swerve.
I'm not holding out much hope for that. But I can certainly dream. It would be a good place to re-establish something if you're not dropping an album soon. Like, "hey, we're active again, here's something we all like and are releasing as a statement of intent, see you next year". Or something.

This is exactly what I’m assuming it is. Unless the reason Mike pushed out the last few Already Over sessions in quick succession is because there was a development in the Linkin Park world, I don’t see this being part of any sort of significant project.
For whatever reason I always got the sense that Mike has been trying to stay "available" for whatever the past few months. Never going too far with his self promo. It's pretty easy to read into that, but he's definitely cooking something.
-
Yeah if they decide to kick off a new era by releasing some of those tracks we heard about that were finished but didn't make the album cut (If i recall correctly) as a bridge for a new era, that would be a really good way of doing it. You can't say hello without saying goodbye. It must feel like shit having a ton of material you thought was gold as songwriters gathering dust and doing nothing. And not being able to work on it anymore. Not being able to share it and say "Here's what we made with our friend".
My interest is piqued.

The only way we get more official Linkin Park stems is if there is a remix competition in promotion for something.
I could maybe see them doing this for M2M20.

Watch in real time as we witness one of the many potential reasons why Mike may not have been comfortable writing music for himself to sing recently.

While a reunion show would be A+, I hope they wouldn't do it in secret since I am not a huge fan of surprise/hidden reunion shows. Give people the chance to get tickets to whatever festival/concert where it will happen and give them time to plan.
When I mention promotional plans I mean letting the band announce it on their own terms.
I'm not convinced this is what's happening, merely entertaining the possibility.
-
All I'm saying is, it's a pretty good way to hide an LP reunion show if you need to mark out a slot way in advance without ruining promotional plans.

Just saw this on his website:
"In 2022, Jeff partnered with Mark Wahlberg’s production company to create two music docuseries and his best-selling book “One Step Closer”, (Simon & Schuster) is being made into a major motion picture."I really hope not. At least not without heavy, HEAVY involvement from the band members.

Listening to this and the little loops of the instrumentals in the background, just looping the same part of the track over and over, are driving me absolutely insane.

But Phoenix is actually involved in things lol, if they are writing music, he is a part of it so it's definitely happening. The band has said multiple times since 2019 they are writing music - who knows what it's for, it could be for them personally or it turns into a release one day. There's no doubt there is music happening; Mike's comment is referring to they have no music lined up for release, no album planned, and no tour happening.
Adding onto this, a year is a long fucking time. Especially for creative types. LP is a band of restless creatives. They're just taking time to figure out what the fuck to do.

I've thought about it several times, even I vastly dislike OML, musically it was the last thing remaining to do for them. They've done metal, alt rock, EDM, folk... But not a pure pop record
Tell me you weren't listening to pop music in 2003 without telling me you weren't listening to pop music in 2003
Or 2007... Or 2010... Really, the only time LP bucked the trend of what was charting at the time was The Hunting Party, and that was a concerted effort.

You guys make me laugh. LP is not releasing music this year, every time Mike mentions something you run with it to the max lol.
It's not just based on Mike mentioning something, but more of a gut feeling.
Him being super quiet these past few months doesn't strike me as something he'd do if it were a solo project. That makes me think the band's doing something. There was that outreach effort last year with the messages from the band. There've been all these little things that hint to the band toying around with things. My gut feeling is we'll have a song late this year.
I just get the sense that things have been slowly brewing over in the LP camp. I hope I'm not wrong.
If it's fucking NFT's I'll cry.

It certainly seems that way with what Mike is hinting at. His comments about LP needing a Discord for more than Meteora, Meteora 20 is only one of the reasons to get hyped, etc.... sounds like LP will be doing something. But no tour.
Personally, since some time last year I've felt like 2023 is the year we're going to see some kind of single and maybe one or two shows to promote it. I can understand them not wanting to tour. But a small, intimate show doesn't seem too out of left field. (And doesn't count as a tour).
Stuff to basically get the rust off, get people excited again, before they go back into the studio for an album or whatever.

well, maybe Shinoda compose 1 or 2 tracks for Scream VI, just like he composed 2 tracks for Medal Of Honor: Warfighter Soundtrack.
And no, LP is NOT making music as Shinoda stated on April 2022 via twitch.
A lot can change in a year. Especially when we're talking about 2022, that shit was five years long.

Throw dat shit on Mega. If I'm allowed to ask.

I'll listen to the leak when it comes out.
Because damn it, I preordered the album twice. I'm not gonna feel guilty. At all.

Wikipedia, no citation, and this is worthy of news?
I wouldn't jump the horse just yet.
My fake senses are off the charts. Anyone can edit wikipedia. However, props for mentioning to take everything with grains of salt-- but this should be taken with an entire truckload of salt. I'd be shocked if they were real, judging from the source.
And as for what they'd gain from it: Lulz?

My apologies for being a complete and total fucking worst of humanity jerk.

You guys are drawing conclusions based on evidence that isn't there.

I'm pretty sure that's what this means. Mike is being so vague. Though with the PreOrder of the album on Monday, its the only thing I can assume.
"LIVING THINGS"
Thoughts on the album title?
Mike is being so vague.
Mike is being so vague.
Don't freaking jump to conclusions where there are none. kthnx.
This. Is. NOT. A. CONFIRMATION.
Therefore why is this in the news section. I mean, goddamn.
