  1. Valentine's Day destroys the album version of Bleed It Out. There, I said it. I love Valentine's Day for its very unique song structure. BIO album version just does not bring it and doesn't do the song any damn justice. Now go listen to BIO from the best DSP ever (aka Auburn 2007) and THAT is a masterpiece. Slow -> fast outro at that show, DAMN.

BIO live is a monster. Well, it was in 2007. 2008 and 2009, it was cool, just not as epic. But BIO album version...yucky.

I hated it for it's unique structure. I give them props for experimenting with new things and not just doing "verse-chorus-verse" etc but unfortunately, the only catchy or fun thing about V-Day is the last 1 minute and 14 seconds, at least for me. The song grew on me but not nearly as much as the other songs on the album, including In Between. I will admit though that they made BIO a shit lot better for the live performances. I won't go as far though as placing BIO below V-Day. The only song I place below V-Day is maybe Qwerty but I won't even get into that because I know I'm in the minority on that one.

  2. I'm wondering when or if we might get a 30 second preview. I have no problem waiting a month but I wouldn't mind a sneak peek of what's to come. They gave us a preview for What I've Done (although if I remember, it wasn't very memorable. Just had the piano intro although I think they had a later preview with the chorus and solo) before it leaked so I hope the same happens with this.

  3. @ GraDon : You like BLEED IT OUT the most in M2M!! Oh Man!! For me that's the worst on the album!!

Are you saying that In Between is better than Bleed it Out? Really?

Wow, amazing. Not only that, but he's saying that Valentine's Day is also better than Bleed It Out. I didn't know it was possible to have such an opinion. Oh well, it's just a testament to how everyone's tastes are different. Anyone can think anything.

  4. I know I'll be the only one to say this but there's a part of me that hopes these aren't LP lyrics, mostly just because I don't want anything this big to be spoiled before the song or album comes. Kind of sounds like a 2pac song though. My reaction though if it's a song title is that I think the name is awesome.

  5. It's not an LP song without the word "lies" in it. I was in pure shock at Not Alone

You know what's funny though? I thought this was the case also but I just went through Meteora and only 3 tracks out of 13 use the word "lie" or some variation of it. And Minutes to Midnight has 5 tracks out of 12 that use the word lie or a variation of the word. I guess I was kind of surprised that Minutes to Midnight used the word more often than Meteora. Lul....

  6. I can't read the future so I don't know what's coming up. I just hope and believe though that A Thousand Suns is the name of the new single or another song, not the name of the album. IMO, it's just a weak or lazy/unoriginal name for an album. For some reason though, it feels like it works good as a song name. I'd love a song named that.

  7. I'm definitely not questioning the authenticity of the image. I'm sure the image was real, wherever it came from. One can't help but question the information though which was in the image, especially after the Blackbirds thing. I'm not too bummed out about that but I was really hoping it would come out on the 15th. Won't get my hopes up too much for this either...until more info comes...although the time frame for the release makes sense.

  8. After Mike's new message, you can pretty much guarantee that this release date is correct. Assuming that the LPA translated it correctly, the message is pretty much saying that the album will come out at the end of summer. The last official day of summer is the 22nd or 23rd of September. This release date fits in perfectly with what Mike's message was translated to. I'm done with hearing about release date crap now. It's almost certain that it's coming out late September. I'd just like to hear more about the actual music on the album.

  9. Sounds awesome. Maybe something will leak in the near future. I think most people knew that the music wasn't going to sound like HT or Meteora. They weren't going back to that. I'm still hoping for a M2M and HT mix (like Chester said) even though the chance of that actually happening is small. Absolutely hilarious how he talks about people who think that all three albums have sounded identical. The only people who still think that are people who have disliked the band so much from the start that they let their bias keep them from seeing that the band has evolved and changed. Or people that have serious comprehension problems.

  10. The difference I think is that the new album is going to have a constant sound and lyrical themes I guess, and the artwork relates to the music. We'll know when we hear it.

And that's exactly what I don't want. When they initially announced that the album was going to be a concept album, I was seriously afraid of that. I don't think it would be good for all the songs to follow a certain lyrical theme. In order for this album to be as lyrically strong as some of the past albums, I think it has to have lyrics that are about various different themes. If the lyrics are all related to one common theme, the meanings in the songs are going to not be varied enough and they might be too shallow or too similar. It really all depends on what the theme is. The problem with a concept album is that it's a hit or miss. If the lyrics are about a good theme, it's good. If not, then it's not so good.

With all the different things being said, we truly won't know anything about the sound or direction of the album until the first preview or song leaks.

  11. I recall Phoenix saying that they were considering naming M2M "In Triumph & Tragedy" along with a bunch of other names. That's what I was referring to. I seriously doubt though that they will reuse that idea or any of the other old name ideas for the new album.

  12. I can't wait for the news..

    Mike,where are you..??

    come on..

    everybody waiting for you..

    hahahha..

I look at chatbox just now..

there's some dude told that the new album name is "Point Of Divergence"...

    is it true..??

maybe he's joking or its true..

    :o

Not to mention that the fake title is pretty crappy.

Wow -.-. I didn't say that's what it would be called. I just said "watch it be called that." I was just joking though. That's actually the name of MY album which comes out in August (originally scheduled for July 15th). Sorry. I had to throw a Lee out. I actually fell for Lee's joke earlier when he tried to joke that it was called Subconsciousness and the first single would be Handful of Lies. And it turned out that was his album. Thanks for calling the name of my album crappy though <_< . I don't think I'll change the name though just for that. And I can't since it's the title track of the album. Luckily, the actual song is better than the name. At least it's better than "In Triumph & Tragedy".

  13. I'm probably going to bed soon. I have a feeling Mike is sleeping right now so I might as well get the sleepies also. He'll probably post something in the morning or early afternoon. He did say though recently that he was living on trailmix and coffee so I guess there's a chance that he still might be awake but....doubt it. I wonder how people would react if Mike came out and said "Ok guys, here's the big news. Razor Red Noise IN COMA IS COMING JULY 9TH!"

  14. I can't belive he said that. I want those 8 hours of my life back.

Holy shit dude. I feel bad for you. I just went through over 700 posts in about 30 or 40 minutes and nothing...but it must have sucked to wait the whole day. I just noticed this thread like an hour ago and I was like "Holy shit, 700 posts. I must have missed something big." I kept searching page after page and still saw people saying "WHAT IS IT?!". And now, still nothing. Well, at least I found out some new big things. They're filming the video for the new single and the album will supposedly be out in September. I really hope that the announcement is something else besides what we already know.

  15. How exciting. It's about time. No more listening to the crappy version that I burned onto a CD. If it's a 256 KBPS from Itunes, it will sound muchhhhhhhhhhhhhh better than the best quality version out there now. For me, once you get up to that bit rate, it sounds just as good as 320 for the most part. 6/15/2010...I hope thats right.

  16. Am I the only one that saw something like this coming? This is a repeat of last summer. Last summer was Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, Steve Mcnair, David Carradine, Farrah Fawcett, etc. Now this summer is Dio and now this person. And I'm sure I'm missing other celebrity people who died last summer and in the last month. The curse from last year has returned o.O. And we still have 2 or 3 months to go.

  17. I agree with his overall argument and point. I disagree with some of his individual points though. I agree that we are in an age where we have the lost the performer. There are way too many bands that rely on all sorts of effects in order to replicate their sound when they play live. And some of them still sound bad live even then. Rather than blaming the technology though, I would prefer to blame the people who use it. You always have control of what you do in the studio. You don't have to use auto-tune or samples from a drum machine and I know plenty of people/bands who don't.

Saying that the tools to record are as cheap as free and that anyone can make a quality recording is a bit of an exaggeration. And creating a quality recording in Garageband is not always ideal. Garageband has many limitations. It depends on what you want to do though. It depends on what your definition is of a "quality recording" which is completely subjective. Generally though, to make a quality recording, you need a good studio mic, instruments, a good computer, and some sort of mixer/studio interface. And those things can be expensive. You can always download better software but you can't download hardware. It's not something that anyone can afford. It's not as cheap and easy as he makes it sound. It takes money and it takes time to learn a new program. I agree with him though that most bands don't have a problem doing this and they tend to struggle more with their live performances.

  18. I'm going to edit my post later and add in the reasons why I ranked the songs the way I did. For now though, from best to worst, I will just say:

    1. No Roads Left (I don't count this as post M2M because it was made during the M2M recording process. I'm throwing it in the mix anyway though since you gave us the option.)

    2. New Divide

    3. Across The Line or Blackbirds (haven't decided yet which one is better. It might be a tie.)

    4. Not Alone

    5. Lockjaw (Poor lockjaw. Not sure if it belonged with the rest of these. I have to rate it last because it's an instrumental, even though it's a bad ass one)

  19. Eww...so our BEST case scenario with this song (depending on whether or not it ends up on iTunes) gives us 2 options:

    1) 128kbps crappy version from 8BR that can't be directly transferred to another device

    2) iTunes .m4a slightly less crappy (but still super lossy) version with DRM protection.

This isn't helping the song grow on me. For once, I'm sincerely hoping they decide to release this song as a b-side on a single later on.

You know, I find it really ironic that so many people talk about LP "selling out" with MTM, yet if they were to go back to a nu-metal-ish sound, that would be the absolute EPITOME of selling out: Sacrificing your artistic integrity (making the kind of music you want to make) and making music you don't have any personal connection to just because it's what people want to hear. That's the same thing all the mega-corporate Disney pop stars do.

Golden rule of writing music (as far as I'm concerned): Whatever people want/expect you to do, do something else. If you're good, people will learn to like it.

I was worried about this before the song came out. I wasn't sure whether we would ever get a high quality version, especially those of us who don't have the game. I still believe though that the song will be put on itunes and we can get a 256 Kbps aac like we did with New Divide, etc. And at least there is software that you can use to remove DRM protection (if it has that), even though it can be a pain.

And I've been waiting for someone to finally say that they would have been selling out even more had they made a third album that sounded like the first two. I think the reason people still insist that they sold out with M2M is because people believe that they became more mainstream and that the music was less innovative. And I don't necessarily agree with that. With all this being said, I still wouldn't have minded if they would have made one last album with the same core sound as the first two.

  20. Just out of curiosity, do any of you know who MusicFREAK20 is on songmeanings.net? I have a feeling he's probably a member here on LpLive because he usually submits the lyrics for DBS and LP songs as soon as they become available. And I'm pretty sure I've seen him here on LpLive before.

  21. The song has gotten better now with more listens. Still some certain parts that sound mainstream like New Divide. I know it will just get better each time though and hopefully we will have a high quality version soon to judge it even better. In some ways, I'm kind of glad that the song ended up being sixth string song. And even though some people are saying it wouldn't fit in with the rest of M2M (which may be true), it does sound a bit similar to Valentine's Day. Not just the tone of Chester's singing, but the guitar sounds similar also. I already like it better than Valentine's Day though which was my least favorite from M2M.
