Actually was pretty cool. They sold it as endstage then the show sold out, then they opened seats behind the stage a few weeks before the show because their production allows it. Those were discounted tickets of course. But the band played to them quite a bit - they were back there a good amount of the show. I'd absolutely do that if I had no other way into a show. They can't do 2 nights in Austin so it made sense to do this.

    I really like the endstage.

Anyway, let's talk Austin. This city has one of the best food and drink selections around and is just easily one of the top USA cities to visit. The From Zero Fest events before the show during the week were really cool and they played From Zero Deluxe Edition multiple times. I got a custom From Zero Fest LP hat with LPLive embroidered on the side with the state of Texas. Where else can you do that at an LP event? lol

@LPPanther, Stefano, and @Numbrocker hung out for days in Austin and they were so much fun.

Show day: LPU Early Entry was a massive queue and even with that, their team nailed it and got everyone in easily and quickly. Talked with Lorenzo a bit and it was great to catch up. When I walked onto the floor before the band came out, there were still only 2-3 rows of people so you can get VERY close at the show if you really want to. I actually recommend getting a bit further back because of the sound being better and you can see the production. I was too close to see the screens very good so I will back up at the next few shows.

The pits were awesome and what a passionate crowd. In Texas you get just some of the best USA crowds for LP, I think the 25-30% of the crowd being Hispanic has a big influence on the intensity of the crowd. One thing I noticed is it seems people like us are in a huge minority now, more than ever and by that I mean that every single person I talked to that I DIDN'T know at the show had never seen LP before. Someone from Spain was next to us in the crowd. Someone else flew from Utah. People were there from all over and had never seen the band. It was pretty cool.

The crowd was intense and fucking rocked where I was on the floor (dead center a few rows back) - the surging and pits were awesome. And it was LOUD, people sang everything. I saw Arlington and now Austin and I can't say how awesome it is to see LP in Texas.

The show itself! Holy shit Somewhere I Belong into an explosive Lying From You is an amazing start. What is this, 2003? That's one of the best Lying From Yous I've seen with Mike's swagger on the verses and then he blew the fuck up on the bridge - watch the video. Badass as hell and Phoenix and Joe were jamming huge. This is what I meant by my comment that the "new" setlist needs another rock song at the start and they delivered with Lying From You. AWESOME LIVE SONG and they need to play it as much as they can! Seriously go watch LFY from this show, you'll love it. And Somewhere I Belong opening is just too good.

The set was solid overall, not many comments otherwise. Two Faced live is a monster and the band has big energy on it. The crowd SURPRISINGLY was the craziest on: Two Faced, BURN IT DOWN (?!? What is this? lol), Casualty, One Step Closer, Faint, A Place for My Head, and Heavy Is the Crown. Aka, people love love love the new stuff. Until It Breaks was cool, the Enjoy the Silence intro on Overflow was cool.

It was a shame that Good Things Go got cut but it'll be in another set. Up From The Bottom sounds really good and I am glad they played it. Due to Mike's comments earlier in the show about "new songS, we have NEW NEW songS and we'll get to those later" or something, I thought they'd for sure play Unshatter. But no big loss there. Overflow rocked.

Just really love Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You, Faint, In the End in there. Would love From the Inside and Breaking the Habit.... Meteora bias showing, much?

My only real complaints are Alex still REALLY bothers me on some of the older songs with how the guitar sounds but there's nothing I can do about that so I'll have to get over it. He is completely off on the Papercut rhythm... stuff like that. And Emily lets the crowd sing a LOT - I hope she will do less of that over time. Overall the band sounds good and I'm glad they are out there. More shows soon. GREAT CROWD (don't let a video fool you - I was right in the middle of it and it was a complete blast... intense fans). Please return to Austin some day... amazing venue and despite the bullshit you see online, the show was PACKED, you couldn't move a muscle in there and they sold that thing the hell out. Awesome.

So good to see you and @Numbrockerand to meet Stefano! From Zero Fest was so cool, really enjoyed chatting with you guys as well as Adam, Lorenzo, and Fiore. Really hope they keep doing fan events like these in the future. And the show was great as usual! First LP show ever for me not being on the floor, but it was because I had my 9 year old son with me! He had a blast but did get tired about halfway through so I definitely made the right call with the seats haha. His favorite song is Castle of Glass so I was so stoked for him when we got the COG version of the set. I was excited to hear APFMH again, my favorite song. Debut of UFTB was excellent, as was my first time seeing Two Faced live. All in all, an amazing weekend of friends old and new, and another great LP show for the history books! I'm almost at double digits finally lmao, this was my 9th LP show.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to these. The Hunting Party had both acapellas and instrumentals released, One More Light had nothing, Papercuts had instrumentals only, and From Zero has acapellas (at least first).

Living Things also had both acapellas and instrumentals officially released!

  3. Got a lower level seat for San Antonio and my sister is buying us lawn seats next week for Dallas. I've never NOT been in the pit for an LP show so this will be 2 new experiences for me. Anyone else think it's weird that they're doing some shows in arenas and others at amphitheaters? They usually stick to one venue type on these tours.

  4. Actually according to Almamu's scans, the full track name is "F/007 Fiends". Thanks so much to everyone involved in finding these tracks!

As the one who discovered these songs (i posted the original thread)
    https://www.reddit.com/r/LinkinPark/comments/5xb1t1/urban_networks_rapology/

here is some more info about the tracks:

    https://www.discogs.com/Various-Urban-Networks-Rapology-13/release/9521613
    https://www.discogs.com/fr/Various-Rapology-14/release/9622841

I first found them at discogs, if you click on artist the links will lead you to Xero's and Mike Shinoda's pages, further more both collections credit Mike Shinoda as the graphic designer.

also the songs are about 1997-98 even though there is no info of it, thats my belief due to the fact that Rapology 16 was released at 1999 and since Chester joined at 1998-99 (its not sure, at interviews they say 99 but they have released some Hybrid Theory demos at LPU's that are from 1998) these demos should have been released at about 97-98.

*Note: Xero's song is called "Fiends" not "Friends".

  5. I'm talking about taking either the same take of the vocal and layering or different takes and layering it. Like 3+ vocal tracks. This sounds like just 1 by him. Listen to their acapellas, you'll see what I mean.

Absolutely, I thought you were referring to layers as something to do with autotune haha.
  6. I hear slight reverb. More reverb wouldn't of done much on these vocals other than accentuate the cracking and strain, and would've only made the mix less solid and sloppy.

I'm assuming he meant layers as in backing vocals, which I agree on. There is a huge absence of them on this song. Notice how much better he sounds with backing vocals on the parts that have them. And I also guarantee these vocals are NOT unedited, there is basic correction throughout. It is simply more raw than we are used to, and I kind of like it.

I didn't mean to say they were untouched. We are used to LOTS of vocal effects and there are very few used here, but slight pitch correction is certainly likely. I disagree with your thoughts on more verb but that's okay! I like the song too!

  7. Astat covered the guitar and mix aspects of this song well but let me clarify a few things on Chester's vocals. As Mark said earlier, we are used to hearing Chester's vocals be pitch corrected. (Not sure what you meant by "layers" Mark, AutoTune and Melodyne simply shift pitches up or down to be perfectly on the correct note). Now I don't believe they do as much to his vocals as a lot of singers out there but there is something else that is clearly not on the vocal track and that is reverb/delay. Ever wonder why you sound way better when you sing in the shower? It's because the early reflections coming off the tile in a small enclosed space cover up the little inconsistencies in your voice. That's basically reverb. Most vocals have at least a little bit of reverb and often a bit of slap delay as well to create a fuller spacier sound. I hear neither on this song. And I prefer it that way if the goal was to have a raw, natural sounding mix. I expect Chester to be able to NAIL this song live because he doesn't have to try to match an overproduced pitch corrected album track. I'm interested to hear the mix on the rest of this album.

  8. Mmmm something popped up in my mind..

What if ''The Carnivores'' is not referring to the bands in the tour, what if it really is the title of the new album?

I think from a marketing standpoint it would have made sense to go ahead and announce it as the album title if it was. Not saying it couldn't be but I doubt it.
