Hi, it's Ben, co-founder and co-admin of https://www.facebook.com/LPPoland. A fun fact related to the anniversary of Linkin Park's concert in Gdynia, Poland, which falls tomorrow.
A year ago, we prepared a giant crowd banner featuring the words "This is what WE asked for" along with the band's logo. Our plan was to unveil it over the audience during one of the songs at the concert. We made the banner ourselves using a special safety-approved material designed for this purpose. It measured 12 meters wide by 8 meters high (approximately 39.4 ft × 26.2 ft).
You can see it in our YouTube video: https://youtu.be/DbksdPQwZj4?si=g3r3TvCj3kobx1U3.
We believed it would be the best possible way to show the band how much we appreciated their return to performing and to thank them for coming to Poland.
After a long exchange of correspondence with the festival organizer, we were granted permission to use our banner during Linkin Park's performance. Unfortunately, that permission was withdrawn at the very last minute. The organizer explained that the decision was made for logistical reasons.
Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment for us. Although the concert itself was amazing, this situation left us feeling that our experience was somehow incomplete.
P.S.
We also made a similar — but much smaller — banner for Linkin Park's concert in Warsaw in 2012. It featured the words "Poland loves LP" along with the band's logo. You can see it in this video at around the 15-minute mark: https://youtu.be/MCOg8F5bHDE?si=du4yhNrqkhoXuHtE&t=900. We highly recommend watching the band's reaction when they spotted the banner. 🙂
