Is there a studio version of the Numb/Champions League mashup ?
-
The more I listen to the song the more I like it, it’s the exact example of what I wanted personally from LP comeback, it’s familiar without sounding like a 2.0 version copy pasted of an old song, but on the other hand doesn’t sound like a different band (I am the one really disliking the Paramore vibes of UFTB and the Rihanna - like chorus of Stained). This one FEELS like LP channeling their old stuff in new directions like TEM and Overflow. Not a top tier track but pretty good, like a 7/10.

Get rid of Stained and throw in Let you fade

I agree on the MTM vibes, it really sounds like an MTM demo, so good
I instantly thought of Wake, What we don’t know and NRL as soon as I heard the first 30 seconds of the song

Far better than the other 2 and Stained, I love Mike on this, the instrumental is very MTM. Don’t understand why it was not on the album. With Chester would have been ace.

Didn’t hear LYF but I find UFT pretty generic and uninteresting, and same for OEO. Stained is just plain bad, not for me at all. My issue is that I get that they wanted to feel familiar and don’t want to be nitpicky about that but I would want something that falls in the middle territory between “too familiar almost being a copy of old songs” and “blend of other styles and bands” (sorry to say it, but I keep hearing Paramore on some songs

I think I like LTF more than Unshatter overall. Mike's parts give me big P.O.D. vibes for some reason (not a bad thing). I like the way Mike's and Emily's vocals complement each other, and that bridge was simple yet effective for me.
How would you describe the song ?

The band has to remove some songs that aren't really working.
When they hear the next album it will be better for them because they will only sing the songs from "Emily" and the great classics from the LP.Some songs sound really strange and I even pass on them because they don't sound good.
Given Up is one that they can remove from the Set List.
But since it's there, either they like it or they're still testing it.That’s the main reason why I am not gonna see them on this tour, I am not feeling some of the Chester era songs sung by Emily, sadly, they sound “strange”.

I was crazy about new LP at first, but my hype toned down a lot in a few weeks.
I do think Emily does the best she can but I am not engaged in the new stuff as I was before. Been months since the last time I played FZ front to back or a consistent number of tracks one after another and I don't like UFTB and Unshattered that much. The feeling I get from this new era is that it's a competent and well crafted rebuilding of LP but it lacks the soul I would have loved to feel and I am not talking about no Chester tribute, but the fact that everything feels pretty "empty"and devoided of soul and that is the same issue I had with most of Mike's solo material in the years following Chester's passing. I will always check out new LP and care about what they do and never thrash them, but my level of intetrest is normalized as if they were another band and not my fav of all time, sadly.

Better than UFB, it’s like if BIO and Inside of me by DBS had a baby, quite grungy and very raw. Would have put this one in place of Stained which I terrible

Thanks for sharing my point, my biggest critique about OML hasn't been about being pop, they've always had great pop songs, the problem is that the songs in OML sounds too generic. LP has played everything and you feel that there's a trademark behind any song. OML for me is a creative crisis.
You might me right, but I think that this album repressents a comfort zone, a place where you feel safe after so many years of uncertainty. Think about a series that you bing-watch because it makes you feel like home. I'm pretty sure that songs like Overflow and Stained gives us a hint that experimentation will continue, they will not stagnate, but for now I think they really need a familiar sound, not for nostagia sake, but for themselves. Give them some space.
Agree on the fact that the album serves as something to put them back on the map, in fact I am not thrashing it as I would if this was their, say, third post - Chester album. It's a solid 6.5 nearing a 7 to me

To me it sounds trash. The Mike section in particularly is cringe. So bad!I despise the use of AI to replicate Chester and dead people's voices but to be honest this one, despite having many flaws, is not THAT terrible compoared to other AI songs and the chorus is pretty strong. Two Faced to me got really old super quick

Not even close. To me it sound more interesting than Two Faced as an attempt of recapturing nu metal. Scary what AI could be able to do in a few years

Extremely mediocre song, I don’t like the 2000s pop punky vibe at all, hope the other 2 don’t sound like this. The bridge is kinda cool, BMTH/Blackbear vibes. Overall it’s a pass for me but glad you enjoy the song.

Well-said! I don’t get how anyone can imagine this being something like a cash grab or sacrificing the integrity of the short album experience. I mean GTG literally has the bookend outro and the album has been out for 5+ months. Anyone who would listen to the whole thing has likely done so and this is probably just the band and label taking the opportunity to stoke the fires of the comeback.
Not to mention Mike's probably pretty excited about at least 10+ other tracks and sounds that he’s made over the last 7 years, and those who have listened to UFTB know this is not a track like Lost that feels redundant to anything on FZ. I expect all 3 tracks will be pretty fresh
Pretty much agree, except for the fact that Lost is a fucking fantastic track, arguably worth the top 25 in their discography

excuse me?..... Where did you get that info?
Some people here and on other sites said it, it’s probably a news leak

3 new songs ? Whoa! First time the band does something like this.

How is Overflow less a single material than Catalyst? It has a Travis Scott/ Twenty One Pilots vibe that sounds like it could have done very well on the chart. Tbh all songs on FZ sound like they could be singles.
Exactly, Overflow is more "single material" than basically anything on ATS except for WFTE and Iridescent. It has that bouncy pop/alternative attitude

Guys overflow is a great track for sure one of the best on FZ but Linkin Park can't release songs like that as single. Singles are supposed to be catchy and radio-friendly, that's the point of a single for a mainstream band.
The Catalyst exists lol. But yeah, aside from that, this is the comeback era so expecting a 6 minutes track with complexity was not the point

Totally agree with what other people here said, LPLIVE is family at this point: I have an account since 2017 (wow 8 years, I signed up when "Heavy" came out) but I am a lurker since like 2012 and I LOVE this site, some of the founders are like close to being band members in terms pof knowledege of LP. Thank you for your amazing work

I don't know. Personal and intimate lyrics don't equal for better songs. I've probably played most FZ songs more than Heavy already. I find them more fun and compelling to listen to, but it's also a matter of tastes and preferences.
My hype for FZ was crazy but it lasted like 3 weeks after the release, songs are pretty solid but to my ears got old pretty quickly, the fact that almost every song is a direct throwback to songs that the band released more than a decade ago made me feel like the album aged pretty quickly. It's still a fun listen from time to time but I think I will probably forget about the existence of some songs in a few years

It's ok if you feel like this song reminds you of Paramore. I don't but I wouldn't mind, I like Paramore. But "Paramore Park" has been used thousands of times in the past 6 months under almost every post on Instagram, X, TikTok etc to trash the band, just like Karaoke Park or worst. So it feels very wrong to see that in a place that celebrates LP

Heavy is better than most of From Zero because it has a SOUL and it's not something trying to replicate the succesful LP formula trying to make a "insert song name 2.0" song. FZ is competently made with some pretty good songs, but lacks that soul songs like Heavy have, (except for Good yhings go) it's intimate and personal
