This 100%. People would have went nuts if the band chose LITE as the first single back March of 2012.

also in case LITE was lead single, i think that interactive video was more successful and get more attention.

I'm with everyone else. Lost In The Echo would have launched the hype for Living Things into the stratosphere if it released as the lead single. You would have the attention of the HT/Meteora purists along with the regular fans. In any case it would not have done any worse than Burn It Down.

 

As for the rest of the singles, I'd release them as such:

 

1. Lost in the Echo

2. In My Remains

3. Lies Greed Misery

4. Castle of Glass

5. Powerless

 

And there you have it - a successful album.

in my opinion Lies Greed Misery is not suitable enough to be single.

Since this is a thing in this thread, this is how I think shit should have gone down:

  Promo: BURN IT DOWN

• CASTLE OF GLASS
• IN MY REMAINS
• VICTIMIZED (I just feel something heavier should be contributed to radio like GU and Catalyst (Somewhat) was for the last two for the fans who enjoy stuff like that)

Releasing IMR and IBG as consecutive singles would have been silly, they're waaaay too similar.

LITE as first single would increase Living Things sales.

Yeah, LITE got completely screwed over by lack of promotion and a ridiculously long span of time between single releases. It would've BLOWN UP as a lead single, probably more so than BID.

BID is easily the worst "single" on LT. it's got all the pieces there, but I agree it was definitely not the song to lead the album's promotion.

No way should Victimized have been a single haha. Almost as bad as suggesting Until it Breaks...

The band effectively wrecked their cycle here. A full blown Euro tour with festivals, headlining shows, etc and like 5 new songs (aka the HCT sets) in Europe in May/June would be been perfect. Follow it with the HCT with additional shows in Florida and other places it didn't reach with 3 different setlists, do Mexico/South America, Australia (headlining shows) and another return to Europe and you'd have a good cycle.

 

And release the singles like this:

LOST IN THE ECHO, IN MY REMAINS, CASTLE OF GLASS, BURN IT DOWN
