NickDuffy Posted July 25, 2011 Share Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) Sorry if this is really late but I noticed Linkin Park put the official lyrics to And One up on their website, and the freestyle (at the end) lyrics are: Spit drips from the jaw of the witless witness Cryptic colloquialisms shift your mid rift Dog paddle through a bog of shadows and smog with my Thought catalog: analogue rap battle log Keep my distance, and fear resistance, hurt by persistence The twisted web of tangled lies Strangles my hope to waste and numbs the taste And I'm forced to face these hate crimes Against the state of being Feeling the weightlessness press me to the ceiling Reeling around rooms Riding a bubble of sound Tuned to the frequency making your Chest shake with every boom Involuntary muscle contraction Ignoring your neck’s breaking Musical gas fume euphoria The sound pounds to make the dead flush To hand you a head rush with read thoughts and said stuff The lyrics to that section of the song have been incorrect for years and years. Astat Posted July 25, 2011 Share Posted July 25, 2011 Those LP.com lyrics definitely are more accurate, but they're still not 100%, for example, the last line is clearly "read RHYMES and said stuff" on the recording, not "read thoughts." It really confuses me how Linkin Park messed up their own lyrics. In The Rising Tied's booklet, Tak has two bars that are completely different from what we get on the actual song, so who knows. The lyrics in the booklets are usually sent in on paper before the album is completely finished to give the record company time to start the manufacturing process, so if lyrics end up being changed at the last minute, it isn't always reflected in the booklet. Alternatively, they could've just ad-libbed a line while recording vocals that wasn't identical to what was on the lyrics sheet, so it never ended up on paper.
