There has been a lot of speculation and information over the past day or so regarding Linkin Park's show in Bern, Switzerland so we wanted to run down what took place on the day of the show.

The fifth show of Linkin Park's From Zero World Tour European leg took the band back to Switzerland, where they had not performed in 11 years - since fall 2014 in Zürich. The band kicked off the tour with two big festival appearances at Nova Rock in Austria and Rock for People in the Czech Republic before heading to Germany for two massive stadium shows in Hannover and Berlin. To date, the Berlin show was their largest headline show in their career that was not a festival. Yes, the Chimera Music Festival in Brazil in 2004 was a larger show and was technically branded as a festival even though just LP played with an opener.

Moving from Berlin to Switzerland, Linkin Park was set to make their first-ever appearance in Bern at an open air location, the Bernexpo Areal Openair venue, to a sold out crowd of 30,000. This was set to be the band's largest headline show ever in Switzerland. With only seven previous shows in the country, only OpenAir St. Gallen in 2011 would challenge this 30,000 number in terms of a crowd size.

Shortly after the LP Underground Early Entry and From Zero Pit Early Entry lines were let inside, the band posted an uncharacteristically long note on social media that says a medical issue in the band has forced them to postpone the show to 2026. Just after the cancelation, the venue staff let fans inside who would like to buy show-specific merch.

Of any of the band cancelations we've covered, this is certainly the longest post and explanation we have seen from them in regards to one - perhaps one of the ways the new era of the band will operate. It is natural that show cancelations will happen, especially with so many shows in so many areas across the world, but it is nice to see the band already saying they want to reschedule the show to 2026. This does not always happen, in fact we'd say the band doesn't make up shows MUCH of the time they are canceled so it is a classy move to see they already want to add it to next year's run.

With that said, Ticketmaster has updated tickets to say June 20, 2026 for the show... we cannot confirm if this is correct or is just a placeholder. It is exactly one year out from the concert date in 2025, so it may just be a placeholder, but Linkin Park also is off on June 20 as they perform at Rock in Rio Lisboa on June 21, 2026. More information is coming on the new date from the band.

Colin has replied to a fan's direct message saying, "Hey man – thanks so much for coming. We hear you guys – definitely working to reschedule. <3"

Reports from those in attendance were that the band conducted a soundcheck at the venue before the show was canceled. Upon reviewing multiple videos shared to social media and Discord, we cannot confirm that a real soundcheck took place - in fact, it looks to us like the exact opposite... a standard crew soundcheck to test the gear and PA. In the video of 'The Emptiness Machine' blaring over the PA, no one is on stage at all. Clips were shared of that song, 'Let You Fade' and 'Given Up', while 'Let You Fade' goes from the full song down to just guitar and back up to the full song... a possibly/likely test with live multitrack recordings of the songs. Most importantly, there is zero footage (video or photo) circulating of any band members on stage for the soundcheck and there are videos circulating showing the *opposite* (no band members on stage), so we cannot confirm a soundcheck took place by the members of the band like Hannover and Berlin had. As the band routinely plays 30,000 venues across the world and not 60,000+ like Berlin, it seems unlikely they would soundcheck in Bern anyway, in our opinion.

After the show cancelation in downtown Bern, local violinists performed Linkin Park songs for a large group of fans that had gathered in one of the best "feel good" moments of their return as a band so far.

So who was it? No one is sure which band member was affected and while they have performed with "replacement" techs before over the years, we aren't going to speculate on anything that isn't said publicly by the band. Reports from the security and venue staff in Bern say that it is not a super serious situation, so take that as you will.

Mike shared on social media that he is excited to get back on stage again, perhaps giving fans a nod that the tour will proceed as normal with Hellfest.

Has something like this this happened before? Yes, several times. In 2008 alone, Chester being sick resulted in Albuquerque and El Paso being canceled mid-tour before the band resumed in Los Angeles and an ear infection with Brad lead to a Sweden and ironically a Switzerland cancelation mid-tour before the band resumed in the Czech Republic. Dating back earlier, Inglewood 2004 was moved to the end of the tour due to Chester being sick and Evansville 2003 was canceled mid-tour for the same reason.

So, medical issues happen and people get sick. It is good that Linkin Park will plan to return in 2026 to make the show up, and it is also good they seem ready for Hellfest.

Sending our good vibes and well wishes for the band, hoping they get better, and we're looking forward to the tour continuing!

One of the biggest flaws in LP's history was to barely reschedule cancelled shows, with one particular winter tour being the prime example of it. I'm glad that in this new era they aim to correct that

Agreed big time. So many shows they never made up. It is crazy they canceled arena dates in 2011 and only made up 2, leaving 3 without makeups (they did hit them next tour though in 2012, but that's a different album era). And pretty much the entire 2015 arena tour.

Since the band is already performing again, the reason for the cancellation doesn’t really matter if they reschedule the show for next year. I just feel bad for the fans who traveled to the concert and had expenses like hotel and transportation that won’t be refunded.

I can imagine how frustrated I would be if they cancel the Vancouver or Seattle show after everything I’ve already spent.

Another thing I keep thinking about: whoever managed to buy the exclusive shirt from the Bern show is holding a real treasure.

If I remember correctly, fans were allowed to get on the venue in order buy merch there as well. Therefore, not too unusual to see people with that shirt.

According to the post, the fans who were already inside the stadium because of the LPU Early Entry were allowed to buy merch.

Ok that I didn't know. I thought that people were let in to at least buy some merch from those booths.

That's what the social media posts and Discord comments said.

LPU Early Entry and From Zero Pit were already inside, before normal doors (where they can get merch), then the show got canceled, then they let fans in to buy merch at the merch booth to buy the stuff.
