Certainly... I'm so disappointed that we haven't got a song about Chester at all. Honestly, I expected something like Black Gives Way to Blue from Alice In Chains comeback album. But to be fair, we shouldn't expect specific subjects from the band. When you are a songwriter, certain topics just don't come easily to you, and you need some inspiration to write a song about a specific subject. Quote
xxHybridXeroxx Posted Tuesday at 03:46 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:46 PM I still miss Chester too, we all do, but the unfortunate reality is he isn’t here anymore and there’s nothing we can do about that. What we can do however is support the band in this new chapter. Emily and Linkin Park aren’t trying to replace him, because he is irreplaceable. The best vocalist of his generation imo. She’s very talented in her own right and does great on most songs but the only two songs I think they should drop that she kinda struggles with is Given Up and Crawling. As far as the new songs go, they SOUND amazing, the lyrics do feel kinda bland at times but overall I like From Zero a lot, I love Emily, and am extremely grateful for the band being back because it feels like the hole that existed when Chester passed away has been filled a little bit. That doesn’t mean it’s still not there and I don’t miss him, of course I do, but the fact is change is hard, we’re all gonna struggle with it in ways. This was also very unexpected as I never expected that LP would come back EVER. I thought maybe we’d get vaulted releases every once in awhile but new music and playing live again? No way. This all being said, I guess it goes back to the question, ‘are you better off with or without the band being back?’ I’d say with. For sure. I’ve gotten so much enjoyment from following the shows online and getting to see them in Dallas, and i can’t wait to see them again in a week. Quote

The only song that seems like Emily its having a hard time its Given Up, seems like its a song that must be played due to its popularity in the rock world. There are some songs in which Emily doesnt struggle but she sounds bad, they just dont suit her voice i dislike how she sounds on Numb and Breaking The Habit, she sounds bad on SIB too i dont know its jsut that there's sommething that sounds off. Its good that BTH its gone. The only way to make Numb sound a bit better would be if Mike does the verses, i love his voice. Quote

The band has to remove some songs that aren't really working. When they hear the next album it will be better for them because they will only sing the songs from "Emily" and the great classics from the LP. Some songs sound really strange and I even pass on them because they don't sound good. Given Up is one that they can remove from the Set List. But since it's there, either they like it or they're still testing it. Quote

That’s the main reason why I am not gonna see them on this tour, I am not feeling some of the Chester era songs sung by Emily, sadly, they sound “strange”. Quote
KeysToTheLinkinPark Posted yesterday at 07:17 AM Posted yesterday at 07:17 AM It's probably hard when the basis of your songwriting is no longer there. 90% of the songs were written about things from Chester's life. Many of the new songs can only be roughly interpreted in terms of Emily's past. But we know too little about her for that (for obvious reasons). To put it bluntly, would we know how terrible the influence of a certain church was on her or that she has now reflected that she was brainwashed by it. Then of course there are topics you can sing about that are very authentic. But since we don't know very much, interpretations of the lyrics of more recent songs are based on speculation (e.g. Casualty). Quote
