Report: Local soccer clubs affected Linkin Park's Brazil 2025 shows & schedule

Linkin Park recently restructured their 2025 South American Tour for this fall and notably left off two shows originally announced in 2024 - Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre. With Rio being the second-most populous city in Brazil, it was odd that it was left off of the tour.

Now, a new report from FogãoNET sheds some light into the cancellation of the concert in early November 2025. With Live Nation looking to host Linkin Park at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio, the Botafogo de Futebol e Regata soccer club in Rio has denied the show, citing scheduling concerns with its 2025 season.

Linkin Park will perform in São Paulo one day before the second game of the Copa do Brasil final, interestingly. So if that show is going to get two nights, it will have to be on the 7th (the day prior. The report also says that the Palmeiras club rejected a concert by Linkin Park at Allianz Parque, the stadium they played two shows in last fall.

The report says, "Botafogo rejected an offer from promoter Live Nation to host a concert by the band Linkin Park at the Nilton Santos Stadium in November, fearing it would be without its stadium in the decisive stages of the 2025 season, reported “Canal do Nicola”. In addition to Botafogo, Palmeiras also rejected hosting a concert by the band at Allianz Parque."

Linkin Park ended up adding a show in Curitiba on November 5, 2025. It looks like if they want their selection of cities and venues in Brazil, they will have to visit in a different time of the year.

This seems like a mistake by the management, soccer its the #1 priority in Brasil.

I wonder if there's another big place to do a big show at Rio de Janeiro.

Some place like a huge park similar to Parque Fundidora at Monterrey or the place wher3 they shot Road To Revolution.

First of all: it was very unprofessional of Live Nation to announce dates for cities without securing venues, fail to find those venues, and then have to cancel.

Second: It's strange that they didn't consider moving the show to the Praça da Apoteose in Rio (the venue where the Carnaval parades take place), especially since it can hold over 40,000 people, has a very open schedule, and is in a great location. Many major artists have performed there, such as Pearl Jam, Maroon 5, Bon Jovi, Beyoncé, among thousands of others.

Isn't it possible they had agreements for shows a year out and then something changed (local clubs changed their minds) and then told Live Nation no? Things do change over time... a year out for a stadium show is a long time.

If that’s the case, I think it shows even more incompetence from Live Nation for not securing proper contracts with the clubs to guarantee the stadium rentals.

I believe there were no confirmed venues with signed contracts for those shows when the official announcement was made. If that had happened, the venues would have been announced along with the dates.
