lpliveusername
Knifes, a band founded by former Linkin Park roadies Ben Young (vocals and guitar) and Warren Willis (drums) with Fall Out Boys roadie Brian Diaz (bass) has put out their debut EP, "Proof of Concept." Ben, known to Linkin Park fans as Benjamin Chandler, started working as Brad Delson's tech in 2014. That same year, he stepped in as the lead guitar player for Linkin Park after Brad got sick. Playing in front of 50,000 people in Belo Horizonte and Brasília got him the confidence to start writing his own songs. He teamed with Warren, known to fans as Warren Willis, and started experimenting. After Chester Bennington's passing, they both started working for Fall Out Boy and recruited Brian, Pete Wentz's long-time tech, to play bass. Ben and Brian first met back in 2005 on the Epitaph Records tour while they were working, respectively, for The Matches and Motion City Soundtrack. The 5 songs on "Proof of Concept" were written when Ben and Warren were still working for Linkin Park and were self-produced alongside Linkin Park engineers Josh Newell and Ethan Mates. Drums for these songs were recorded in secret using Linkin Park's time in the studio while they were recording "One More Light." The fact that Ben had to learn Linkin Park songs on guitar had a huge influence on his song writing, he told us: "The chorus in The Comedown are very similar chord phrasings to One Step Closer. The chromatic nature of the bridge of Standard Issue Frustration would not have existed if it wasn't for the bridge of Given Up." Check out the lyric video for their latest single, 'Disambiguation,' below. Knifes will play an acoustic show at the Bleeding Audio and Sound Unseen virtual music showcase this Saturday November 14 at 9pm/CST. Tickets can be purchased here.
