RogueSoul
The Carnivores Tour is finally winding down, but is still on fire! Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and AFI will be rocking the stage at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California tonight for the third-to-last show of the Carnivores Tour. Last night in Los Angeles, the band streamed the concert via VyRT - there were technical difficulties (mostly during MARS' set - there was some sort of hijacking occurring), but it ended up being a great experience. Linkin Park has performed in Chula Vista plenty of times before: in 2001, 2004, 2007, and 2012. They also played in the area back in July for the mtvU Fandom Awards at Comic Con. The band performed there for the first time back in 2001 as part of Rock 105.3's When Bands Attack, alongside Deftones, Staind, P.O.D, and more. Brad became frustrated with his gear after the show, kicked an iron door, and managed to break his foot. Karma! In 2004, the band performed on Projekt Revolution with Korn, Snoop Dogg, The Used, and Less Than Jake. Jonathan Davis from Korn came out to sing during the extended bridge of 'One Step Closer' and Ivan the Urban Action Figure danced during 'It's Goin' Down'. In 2007, the band dropped 'Given Up' and 'QWERTY' for an unknown reason, but this ended up introducing an interesting combo: 'Wake' and 'From The Inside'. Awesome! In 2012, the band ended the Honda Civic Tour with a show in Chula Vista. Recently in San Diego the band performed for the mtvU Fandom Awards, performing an interesting setlist for concert-goers. This show was extremely close to the venue they're playing at today - more or less than 10 miles! Yesterday, the band performed at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, and boy, was this a show for the record books! The band performed a standard version of Set A (the first time they've broken the regular setlist rotation on this tour), but with a few twists. For one, a very minor change - Mike rapped 'Points Of Authority' over the extended intro of 'Until It's Gone' instead of the first verse of 'With You', presumably by mistake. Mike rapped 'Remember The Name' by Fort Minor over his solo medley, keeping it safe. Mike hasn't varied his medley up too much recently - what songs do you want to see him rap? According to that poll, you guys want to see 'Dedicated', 'Carousel', and 'High Voltage'! Though the band didn't make any major changes to the setlist, they did have some additions - guests, that is! Daron Malakian from System Of A Down came out to perform 'Rebellion' with the band, and Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men came out to perform 'Faint'! Linkin Park will be touring with Of Mice & Men later this year for their European Tour - can we expect anymore collabs with Austin soon? Check out this beautiful performance of 'Final Masquerade' from a few days ago in Quincy, Washington. The band has been keeping their setlists the same all tour - do you think it's time for a change? The band has rehearsed songs like 'A Place For My Head' and 'No More Sorrow', two songs which you really want to see according to our 2014 Live Poll, but they didn't make the cut. Whipping out one of those songs would really end the tour with a bang! The other bands on the Carnivores Tour are still killing it, too! AFI performed their standard setlist, opening with 'The Leaving Song, Pt. II', including hits like '17 Crimes' and 'I Hope You Suffer', old favorites like 'Silver and Cold' and 'Love Like Winter', and an epic closing with 'Miss Murder'. After dropping it for one show, the band brought back 'The Days Of The Phoenix', the oldest song in their setlist. Thirty Seconds To Mars performed a shortened setlist do to the delay cause by Jared helping out with the VyRT incident that crashed the site - props to him for still delivering to us! They ended up streaming the concert for free (and part of Linkin Park's set, too), but those who paid will be accommodated soon, so don't worry! A ReVyRT of the show will also be happening soon, in case you missed it. The band opened with the old school opener of Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana: O Fortuna' and their new hit, 'Up In The Air'. They performed hits like 'This Is War' and 'Kings and Queens', as well as new singles like 'Do Or Die' and 'City Of Angels'. Jared dedicated 'Do Or Die' to a fan from Iraq who was watching on VyRT. He went deep into the crowd during 'Kings and Queens' and giant balloons went everywhere during 'This Is War'. Jared had to shorten 'The Kill' to the first verse and second chorus because of time constraints. They closed the show with a tease of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' and Jared inviting fans from the crowd onstage for 'Closer To The Edge'! If you're planning to see MARS on one of the remaining dates, expect to hear 'End Of All Days', a longer acoustic set, and possibly 'Bright Lights', which recently made its tour debut back in Quincy, Washington. Who's heading to the show? The band will likely perform Set B tonight - there's a decent chance the guests from the previous show may come out again! A fun fact - this is the only time in the band's history that the band will be performing at two completely different venues that have the same name (the next is at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Wheatland, CA!). If you didn't read it before - the Hollywood Bowl VyRT will be ReVyRTed some time in the future, so be no the look out for that. Stop by the Music For Relief booth in order to help end to the ebola outbreak taking place in Africa. At around 11:00PM PST, Linkin Park will be performing on the 24 Hours of Reality livestream, so stay tuned for that! It's currently unknown whether it'll be an actual live performance or a pre-recorded track, but it's more likely than not the latter. Watch the stream too, and learn a thing or two about what we're doing to our environment, and how we can help it. For updates on the show, check back here later or follow us on Twitter! hahninator
Hey great post. I can't blame you for the timing either because I was super busy today too. Crazy. Excellent info in this one. Wish they'd do APFMH. Maybe in 2015. I am really disappointed with how little variety there is in the setlists. Set B. Not sure what was over Mike Solo yet. RT'd a few setlist pictures on the LPL Twitter.
