Tour Diary:Somewhere In Middle America - Tuesday, August 8th, 2000:
We're sitting at a TA Travel Center eating and playing video games. Something is wrong with our RV, and our mechanic has ordered a new part. Last night we stayed in Oklahoma City enroute to Texas, where we will be playing four shows. We are on the home stretch of this tour, and are totally inspired by how much fun the shows have been. Kitt's Korner in Madison, Wisconsin went off extra hard as did our show in Grand Rapids. Systematic, who joined the tour in Michigan, is a rad band and is super fun to play with. Off-stage they specialize in home-made fireworks displays. Let's just hope all our gear remains in tact until our Roxy show August 16th. We'll see our LA people soon. - From the Kerrang interview in 2008, "FOUR MONTHS later, on 23 October 2000, the band found themselves in Washington State just outside Seattle. Their debut album would be released the next day and, thanks to the support of the Warner Bros radio pluggers, its songs had been riding high on the airwaves. Bassist Phoenix Farrell, who had missed the recording process after temporarily leaving the band to fulfil a commitment to his old band Tasty Snax, had rejoined.
Parked outside a 24hr record store, waiting to go in on the stroke of midnight to buy the first copy of their new album, they started dreaming about what Hybrid Theory might sell in its first week of release.
“I thought it would be awesome if it sold 3,000 copies,” says Farrell. “I thought that was something to build on. But Chester said he thought it would sell 8,000 copies. My gut reaction to that was panic. You’ve got to set your expectations high but you don’t want to be stupid.”"

Tour Diary:We just got done playing Laga in Pittsburgh. The show was awesome; there was a line of kids around the block to see the show. The place was packed, and we did our best to entertain. It all went well, the crowd was probably one of the largest and most energetic yet, and subsequently we spent the next two/three hours after the show meeting all the (mostly new) fans and giving them tapes to listen to. But that's not to overlook all the other shows on this tour; the crowds have been totally receptive. We've had a great time playing in every new city. We've never played in any of these places before, and every new fan we meet makes us that much more energized to play harder and better every time. So, to everyone who's supporting the band: thank you. And we'll see you in Grand Rapids on July 31st. Thanks-Mike
