  1. Guys, you do know you were supposed to judge the remix work and not the original tracks, right? I mean, you obviously love Place To Start, but I actually remixed Over Again.

Anyway, thanks for the votes and congrats to other contestants!

How exactly does it work now? Mike gets the top 5 tracks from each commetee or the entire list?

  2. Here's my last minute entry. I'm truly exhausted but at the same time very happy. The track has been in the works for over 5 weeks and I feel like I've poured my entire soul into this. I'm glad I actually started even before the acapellas were out because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finish it on time.

This is the first time I wrote proper lyrics in English and my first serious attempt at rapping so I still can't believe it actually sounds exactly the way I wanted from the very beginning. Hope you'll enjoy it!

  3. When I started working on this project a few weeks ago I had no idea it would turn into a tribute to one of my biggest idols.
I've seen Chester Bennington performing live 3 times and was lucky enought to talk to him twice in 2012 and 2014. We've only exchanged a few words but somehow he managed to amaze me with how kind and friendly he was. Honestly, I've never seen anyone to seem so happy just because he could talk to me. But that's how he was. And as much as I'm happy I got a chance to meet him, it makes it even more difficult to accept what happened last Friday. I mean, he wasn't just another celebrity from the TV. He was a real person. I talked to him, I shook his hand. And the fact that he decided to end his life that way leaves me heartbroken.
I guess it's needless to say how important Linkin Park is to me, even if I don't listen to them as often as I used to as a teenager. Without Chester and LP I would be in a totally different place as a music producer and probably as a person. So I guess the only right thing to say right now is thank you for everything, Chester. We're all gonna miss you, you freakin' Legend.

  4. Fan remixes are automatically the intellectual property of the original artist.

I'm no expert but I really don't think it's true. As Broman said, contrary to what some people think, remixing is also about writing new music from scratch. Some remixes are basically brand new instrumental songs mixed with somebody else's vocals. So technically none of the sides owns all the rights until they make a deal.

  5. I really doubt this track is gonna be on LPU CD. It wasn't "LPU Sessions vol. 2" but a completely new competition held by Open Labs (creators of Stagelight). I actually won one of these monthly contests myself and I'm pretty sure the rules didn't say anything about LPU CD.

  6. You guys make a lot of confusion. You are GMT+1 aka CET (Spain also got same time as yours and I'm 50km from there).

GMT (Greenwich meridian time, Portugal and UK as examples) is less 1h than central Europe

edit: maybe you're making confusion because summer time, but it's the same thing :)

Umm... I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're wrong. Because of the daylight saving time London is now in GMT+1 and Poland, Germany, France and Italy are in GMT+2.

  7. Thanks for the link MacGyver!

Kind of annoyed that they're mixed in with the guitar and bass tracks though. Kind of hinders the "remixability" of the stems.

True. Also the quality of bass & guitar tracks is really low but I'm glad that we got a perfect acapella.
  8. The drums completely turn me off from Primo. I literally couldn't enjoy it past the first chorus. That being said, I like the lyrics and vocal melody, and obviously it turned out great as IBG.

THIS! Didn't like the drums either, although it's always nice to listen to that kind of stuff and that's what I expect from LPU in the future.
  9. For me the main reason for not buying DSP's is the sound of them since 2010. I have here shows where Mikes guitar parts aren't to hear. And some DSP's where Brad's guitar parts aren't to hear very well. I think if the sound (e.g the guitar sound) would be like 2008, they would getting more purchaser. I dont know, am i the only one who is scared about the sound? It's getting better with the Living Things tour, but 2008 was the best sound i thing.

To be honest, I never really liked the sound of DSPs. The drums and guitars sounded just awful. I always liked to check out the TV/radio recordings, because they very often sounded better than DSPs.

The answer I just got is that they were not selling well and the program has been stopped as of very early this year. I apologize for not realizing this sooner and checking it out months ago. Doesn't look good.....

That's what happens when you play the same songs again and again and again. And again.

Yes, it might not be the main issue, but it definitely made the product much less interesting. I remember when people here were all excited about DSPs and collected them like crazy. But I think that we all became really 'meh' about this whole thing recently, because it simply got extremely boring.

  10. What? An LPU contest involving LPU members collaborating with Linkin Park on original music?

What? Anthony's been working on his own original material for the last several months, has a bunch of instrumental songs written that just need to be fleshed out with vocals and proper production, and just needs to pick which one he feels is the strongest and record it sometime within the next 13 days?

Don't mind if I do, Linkin Park. Don't mind if I do.

    Good luck, dude!
