  1. Awesome idea. Kinda reminds me of what Poets of the Fall (a really nice rock band from Finland, definitely worth checking out, by the way) did with their video to "The Ultimate Fling". They too let the camera duties to the fans and their equipment and the result was quite decent :) I'm expecting something

    :)
  2. This scatting/rapping/chanting/what have ya by Chester is far beyond awesome. I don't know what the whole song will sounds like, but I'm expecting (judging by how The Catalyst turned out in the end) something unusual. Like a ballad or something :P I've been dying for some time to hear Chester screaming over something mellow  I know it sound like a blasphemy, but that would be epic :D

  3. The only person / project that comes into my mind as far as dream LP collabo is concerned is... Klayton of Celldweler. Collabo between him and LP would be absolutely sick and one of a kind, I think. Either in terms of a remix, a vocal contribution (that, i think would suit LP style very well) or something completely new. Anyways, I'd love to hear these guys collaborating one day :)

Gosh, it's just a contest, so chill. Your life ain't gonna end if you end up second (my mix is somewhere around 30th spot and I'm not whining). This rant against Alex's mix is just beyond me. But if you have some pieces of evidence that he's faking, then show it to everyone. Otherwise you're just wasting your time.

    Also:

Sorry we thought the most outside the box and didn't put breakdowns throughout the whole song, or make it dubstep or techno, and actually made a melody with VOCALS ON TIME!

What makes you better than dubstep or techno guys? The fact of being a rock band doesn't make you any better. Music is music. No better or worse, but different. Variety of entries in this contest is what makes it awesome.

    And less seriously:

We have huge myspaces and promotion companies telling our fans and their's to vote for us

So...? I have an elephant and two cats.

(@staff: sorry, but I just couldn't resist it)

Well, thanks a bunch. Really enjoyed what you did with your remix. A nice job with the vocal pitch-shifting, which, I think, added a different twist, dimension (call it as you like) to the original.

Thanks again, buddy. As far your mix goes, great job again. A nice idea with this guitar-wall pattern. Overall your version sounded to me like some sort of symphonic-metal track. I dig the piano melodies. Especially in the end :P A jumpy-folky kinda thing :) What I didn't like, though, was the lack of power / kick / room in the drum section. Apart from that, pretty good take on the track :)

Here's my take on it. Some of you have heard the previous version. This is the improved one. I changed the overall tone ('cuz it sounded a bit out of tune) and I messed up a bit with the initial beat sequences. Apart from that everything was left as it was. In case you didn't hear the previous version, there's some synth / industrial touches here and there and the piano give a slight futuristic feel to it.

Hope you like it, guys! And of course don't forget to vote if you enjoyed this little mix :)

  7. Whoa. Glad that turned out fake. That online mixing thing was a piece of garbage anyway. I'll be making some slight improvements to my remix posted in the other thread (those who listened: thanks for your opinions! really appreciate it) in the couple of days. We'll see what happens. Good luck to everyone :)

  8. 1. Lockjaw.

Even though it's an instrumental it has become my favourite track out of all post-MTM ones. Why? Love the melodies, the mood and overall track progression that I wouldn't really expect from LP. Also it sounds like a perfect blend of HT and MTM elements. If LP goes in that direction with the new album, I'd be more than satisfied :)

    2. New Divide

Again, very nice track progression. Atmospheric, yet very energetic. Gotta love the bridge part. Epic.

    3. Blackbirds

Probably the most oddly structured LP song to date. Like almost everyone here, I expected rapping in the verses, but we have them in the bridge part. The beat is really groovy, it has that FMish feeling I really like. Mike's flow reminds me of... Hands Held High. It's almost the same kind of vibe. That verses from the bridge, I think, would sound excellent over intros to PoA or Crawling. The downside of this track is that it ends way too early. I'd like too hear some sort transition into sort of a heavier part, similar to one we have in Across The Line OR some rap-singing trade-off by Mike & Chaz over a chopped beat. That would be awesome. And lyrically it's one of the best efforts I've ever heard from the band.

    4.Across the Line

Again, a nice track. Love the transition into a heavy part. Pretty energetic song with great lyrics.

    5. Not Alone

Pretty much fits "the charity song" definition. Nice to hear once in a while, but it's nothing special.

    6. No Roads Left.

Probably the only song by LP that I really dislike. Sounds so plain and uninspired to me. Hate the guitar-work, hate the beat, hate Mike's vocals (he should stick to rapping and leave the singing duties to Chester).

  9. Awesome song. Sounds like "Hybrid Theory meets Minutes To Midnight" with a some kind of dark vibe to it. I like it a lot, because a combo of styles is what I wish for next LP album. Although it's probably not going to make it for the next record I think it sounds very promising. Can't wait for more :)

  10. Possibly the most overrated song in LP's short history.

Totally agree on that. But my opinion is a bit more radical. I think that NRL is one of the worst songs that LP has ever recorded. Mike's vocals are, well... poor. Music, comparing to other LP songs, is nothing unusual. Lyrically, however, it is one of the best songs I've ever heard from LP.

  11. Here's a bunch of my ideas:

    1. Remixes. It would be nice for LP to release a remix kit (not only an acapella / instrumental of a given song) from time to time. There's a lot of skillful guys among LP fanbase that could make a damn good use of that. And the same time bring fanmade LP remixing to a higher level. A remix contest once in a while would also sound fine (putting a winner-remix on an LPU cd would sound awesome to me).

    2. Live. Almost everything has been said already, but I want to add a few things. An idea of hip-hop medley could be brought back to life and refreshed a lil' bit. For instance it can be turned into a... Fort Minor medley. Yeah, I know that FM and LP are totally different things, but in that way an LP show could be more varied. Piano (or mellow / acoustic in general) versions, in my opinion, can stay as they are. However, it would be great if LP decided to make mellow version of their more hardcore songs (I'm dying to hear "Given Up" someday in the same piano / mellow vein as "Pushing Me Away" {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif).

    3. Studio. I'm an LP fan since releasing of Hybrid Theory and I like MTM as well. A perfect cd, at least for me, would be a compromise between the two "styles". Mike rapping, Chester singing / screaming, Joe / Brad having trade-off turntable / guitar solos (I didn't count Phoenix and Rob since they do their job perfectly {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif ) Can you get something better that that? {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif

That's all I can think of right now.
