Theres always a reason to criticize... some of you guys deserve the band just calling it quits and going silent

I'm glad they are releasing new/unreleased music and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

But that's an ugly-ass graphic design work.

Band member, management and label are fully aware that leaving this blank space in the 14th track would create some mayhem in the hardcore fanbase.
Do they have something to live up to the hype they are creating?

The artwork in all of this feels so amateur it doesn't indicate anything big coming up.
But we already have the confirmation of Friendly Fire.

    Odd stuff.

That's exactly my line of thought. It feels too deliberate.

  3. What I should do: manage expectations, Track 14 is probably just another demo they want to save for later in order to extend the marketing campaign of the GH.

What I will do: obsessing over the thought it might be an actually new track from the band.

Guys, it will be a lot of songs that we've known since forever and 1 (or MAYBE more) unreleased song(s). The hype level feels a bit over the top to be honest. Like, with M20 or HT20 we had at least a lot of possibilities. I don't quite get it. But that's ok of course because you all are getting so hyped up. Good for you!

I think the hype is more about possible implications for the band's future than about the actual release. But it's not to be taken for granted that we'll actually get something out of it.

That being said, a new song (with Chester!) is still a new song and as other said above, I'll take any unpublished material from the band at this stage.

Honestly, the only way this could be an actually interesting release as a whole is if it's a live compilation from rare shows, or some "Best Performances" kind of thing, but I don't have much faith in that.

There is no need to be this disrespectful towards an album. Or I guess you can be, but as a reminder: there are people out there who do enjoy the album, and have great memories linked with it - and that'd include me.

Like, OML is a record that doesn't appeal to me as much as the rest of LP discography, but I know some other enjoy it, and I can respect that and simply say "well yeah, this specific record wasn't my thing".

    Preach!

  6. There is no chance that either Final Masquerade or Wastelands (or both) don't end up in the Collection. The former still enjoys occasional radio plays internationally on rock/alternative stations, the latter was the one song from THP they kept in the setlist for the OML Tour (and I'm gonn say that's a shame, to balance the THP hate a bit :P).

  7. The last posts on this thread are rightfully somewhat negative/disenchanted about a possible LP8, but reading the progression of Mike wordings on the first post plus the big mainstream success of Lost (and M20) plus the chance of a Singles Collection coming this year... I don't know, I'm feeling kinda good about this for the first time in years. Like I'm not expecting anything this year or even next year necessarily, but I also don't think we will actually have a ten years gap. Mike saying that there isn't much off the table last year reads quite nice now, considering how much the band has been careful about managing expectations.

  8. I'm assuming The Singles Collection (w/ Friendly Fire) is a legit thing because lots of credible sources are either reporting it or hinting at it, even though we have to wait for an official announcement of course.

Having experienced live only the latest two album cycles, I (selfishly, I admit) do hope this can be the start of a new era for the band. I miss the boys and I miss the feeling of a new album coming out. Even though it won't be the same without Chester and his energy.

But regardless, I'll be grateful for whatever the band feels comfortable putting out. I really liked M20 (even though I'm really not a fan of the use of AI in the videos) because it lit a spark back in the community.
