  1. So "resolution" becomes "lost" "demo" because... There's... One... Sample.. that was.. re....used? Even tho there's a different guitar, drums, keys, effects, strings, vocals, structure... I mean, everything? LP re uses samples all the time. Sorry, this make absolutely zero sense.

It that's how we go, "into you" from dead by sunrise has a really similar bridge to lost. Maybe that's was a demo too

Edit: just heard "resolution" bridge a couple of times and that's not the same chord progression.

I see why Mike was so hyped about FM it’s dope af

Fighting myself IS SO F... GOOD. I would place it right between Somewhere i Belong and Lying From You.

More the Victim is kinda weird for me because everytime i hear Cumulus chorus the lyrics in my head say "If i just let you go, i need to let you go", so is kinda weird listening to something else on the chorus lol

I don't care how many audios it have. If the production value and amount of work put on ATS is miles ahead HT and Meteora, then why it haven't succes like HT and Meteora? Because it does not depend if one song has more audio tracks in it. Less is sometimes more. It's like when a chef cooks food and spends half a day decorating the plate and the food still tastes like shit at the end.

Maybe because HT and Meteora fans are the "rock" guys that only care about "rock" and guitar and noise and somehow ended up with a LP album, even that 80% of the songs are a mix between rock/rap/hip-hop/pop songs, but somehow they ignore everything and aparently only listen to guitars and screams. Thats why they hate everything after meteora, because there are no guitars and screams. Just like you :)

Lol. They are noobs. ATS level of quality sucks if I compare it with Meteora. I wonder how many ATS demos were rewritten milion times to get the best versions like we got on Meteora.

Depends on what you consider "quality", the production value and amount of work put on ATS is miles ahead HT and Meteora. One track alone, like "When they come for me" has more audio tracks than 3 or 4 Meteora songs combined. And this wont change, even if you dont like ATS (and thats fine).

"Quality" is not just what you like buddy.

  5. Just gave it a shot... I think the only song you can "compare" this to is "Easier To Run" and, at least for me, Easier To Run is way better. This song doesnt fit Meteora at all, it gave me a Living Things vibe, not a bad song tho.

As for the Meteora tracklist, to be completely honest i really don't like From the inside, so i could see this song replacing From The Inside at least for me.

Fun fact, on the bridge, the song has some scratchs made using the same samplers from the very ending of "A Place For My Head" (I think the same sampler is used in By Myself and Session)

EDIT: And the first scratch is the same sampler used in "With You"

EDIT2: I thought this was going to be more emotional for me... I think listening to "Out of Ashes" album yesterday and being amazed how good Chester's voice is and how much i miss him just spoiled everthing lol

EDIT3 and the final one: Probably just me being crazy but, I think i know why they left this song out of meteora... Couple of reasons, first, the key thingy is just too simple, also its more commom in Hip Hop songs, they added a second key to make it more powerfull but the second key was not common in the Meteora era (i mean, we know LP likes to diversify the style since Xero but HT and MT were 90% tied by the label, this kinda of key only became common in Living Things, this is why i said it gave me LT vibes), It also gets in the way of the guitars. LP is all about post production so they added key 3 (also more Hip Hop/Living things style) and strings (similar to BTH), since Mr.Hahn was the last one he added scratches but even with all the post productuion, the song still feels, idk, simple.

Second, this song has a different construction compared to the entire album, it is: Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2 Reduced, Chorus, Bridge, Bridge 2 mixed with Chorus and Chorus again), i can't remeber any Meteora song having similar construction.  Hybrid Theory and Meteora are 90% comercial radio albums, so all songs follow the same construction, Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Bridge and Chorus, the only song that doesnt follow this structure is Easier to Run (Intro, Chorus, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Brigde, Chorus). This is why i said "90%, because of Easier To Run and Session/Foreword). This kinda structure make the song repetitive, so that's probably the reason.

  6. So, sorry for the double post but the last one is huge already.

I think from Xero throught Minutes To Midnight, Mr.Hahn was more of a "post production guy", kinda like, he takes the song that's almost finished and just sprinkle his magic on it... And he made this until Minutes To Midnight, that would explain why some many demos doesnt have scratch, even that the released track does (like Somewhere I Belong, Breaking The Habit and so on).

After this album i feel like he was dragged to the room and the band said "Hey Hahn, no more scratch, you're producing now, cmon, lets go"' and thats it

Also, we definatelly should have a "Fun fact" topic about some songs.

I actually haven’t had a chance to listen through all LPU CDs

Well, lets see... I don't have all LPU albums since i'm not a member, so i'm giving this one based on Linkin Pedia tracklists and Youtube

    Big Pimpin'/Papercut

    One Step Closer Live

    Numb Live

    Crawling Live

Sweet Hamster Like Jewels From America! LPU 8

    LOL

    LPU 9

This CD has some demos of songs that do have scratch, but since they're demos:

A.06 short has scratch but the longer version doesnt.

Sad (By Myself Demo) is a short sample so no

Figure.09 Demo kinda, if you consider everything from 2:00 to 2:16 as scratch

Stick And Move (Runaway Demo) also a short sample so no

Drawing (Breaking The Habit Demo) doesnt have scratching even that it has some effects that made in the final version (the explosion sound and the back and forth sound at the ending).

    A Decade Underground

Compilation of previous LPU songs so let's just ignore this one

    LPU X

    None

What ive Done Mike Shinoda Remix (the scratch was removed)

Oh No (Points Of Authority demo) it's just a drum demo

Divided and Halo are such good songs lol

    LPU 11

Bang Three (What I've Done  Demo)

Esaul (A Place For My Head Demo)

Fun fact: The ending of "Blue" has the same melody as Crawling

    LPU 12

    Points Of Authority Demo

Bunker (Funfact, is the same sampler from Points of authority)

    So Far Away ❤️

    Forgotten Demo

Fun Fact: So Far Away has some elements from "Soundtrack"

Mom, can we trade Runaway for So Far away? Pleeeeease

Mom, can we trade In Between for Debris? Pleeeeeeaseee

    LPU 13

None, even that we have a "Somewhere I Belong Demo"

MOOOOMMM CAN WE TRADE ILL BE GONE FOR PRIMO? PLEEEEEEEEEEASE

MOOOOOOOOOOOM CAN WE HAVE THREE BAND TERROR AT HOME?

Three Band Terror at home: (the boring ending of Until It Breaks lol)

    LPU 14

None, even that, again, we have a "Original Mike Shinoda Breaking The Habit" demo from 2002 (lol mike's voice).

Fun fact: Some pieces from "Malathion+Tritonus" sounds similar to the extended ending they use in Points Of Authority Live

Fun Fact: The piano from "Berlin One Version C" is the same as "Jornada Del Muerto", so maybe this song is a demo from it.

    LPU 15

    None

Fun Fact: Hurry, again, has elements from "Soundtrack" and "So Far Away", this melody was definatelly explored by the band

    And finally, LPU 16

    The Catalyst Demo

    Symphonies Of Light ❤️

omg, this thing is huge already, sorry

Don't forget of course his DJ sets during THP tour where he did some scratching over a mix/mash of a lot of LP beats, if you're also interested in prominent live scratches that is

Also, my gut tells me there's some buried in Skin to Bone, but I can't make it out clearly enough to be confident lol. There are so many harsh sounds/synths there, I could definitely imagine it fitting in. Especially because I had no idea how much grit Chester was putting into some of the BG vocals until we got the acapella.

Wait, i'm considering scratchs only... of course Mr.Hahn has another roles in every song, he plays a big role in A Thousand Suns and Living Things, specially live since he play's strings / additional instruments.

THP is more raw but he's present too with some strings, rebellion for example has "strings" buried in the mix.

About Skin to bone, nope, nothing. I thought i was going to hear something in Unitl It Breaks too but nothing, unfortunately

  9. List of LP songs that have scratch:

    Hybrid Theory:

    Papercut

    By Myself

    Dont Stay

    Somewhere I Belong

    Lying From You

    Hit The Floor

    Easier To Run

    Figure.09

    Breaking The Habit

    From The Inside

    Nobody's Listening

    Session

    Numb

    Minutes To midnight

    What I've Done

    In Pieces

    The Catalyst

    Living Things

I really like the way that you have explained it, it was a good read for me.

Well its the same with every fanbase, there are always some morons that expect the artist to deliver exactly the same album as they think was „the best” only in their opinion and the rest sucks. I listen to a lot of different artists in different genres and i sweat its all the same story everywhere.

Maybe LP should go independent now but that of course means more money for promo and everything.

    Thanks 😃

My relationship with LP fans is hard because, 9 out 10 people  that are "LP Fans" dont really understand what LP is, take Hybrid Theory EP for example, is "My december" nu-metal? "So Far Away" dates from 1998, is that "nu-metal"? "Step Up" is an incredible song... and is pure hip hop.. delivered by a band that can have a scream heavy song like A Place For My Head, but at the same time, an incredible song like Easier To Run, or a "out of a normal structure 3 different parts hip hop, pop, rap and underground vibe" song called Until It Breaks..

By the way, how you classify "The Little Things Give You Away"? is that "pop"? See? thats why LP is so special to me, those guys are creative AF when making an album... And when someone take this 10 songs album, with 10 songs beeing completely different, made with a lot of care and a huge level of production and say "no scream, no guitar, its trash..." makes me insane.

And is not just "creativity", is the production level too... and BTW, when i say "production level" i mean the "care" that they have with their songs, and that "care" translates do creativity instrumentally speaking, i was taking a look at When They Come For Me multitracks and the thing has almos 40 tracks with different instruments, not couting vocal tracks... 40 audio tracks mean 40 different instruments in the same song... think about the "common" ones.. Guitar, Drums, Bass, sometimes a little piano... alright, what else? A lot of bands are based only on those "common" ones.. now i will repeat: 40 audio tracks, 1 song. (the multitrack archive itself has 122 tracks, but some are Left / right tracks, and some tracks used on mastering, but pure instruments, 40, not counting vocals)

That's the "production" that i'm talking about, some of those instruments are almost inaudible when you hear the full song, but they care enough to put it there.. Up to this date (and i'm not kidding, i listen to LP since i was 9, now i'm 27) i still listen to some LP songs and sometimes i hear one instrument that i've never heard before on the song, and my reaction is like: "WTF, theres a war siren in this track?? Whaaat???" (WTCFM has a siren, pretty cool)

And since i love the way they "produce" their songs, imagine how hard is to me when someone say "OMG chester doesnt even scream anymore, what is that pop trash? ew LP is over"

Sorry For Now by itself has more production and layers / creativity that most other bands entire album... First time i listened to Sorry For Now i was like "Holy crap, thats some Trap and Chill step sutff with some sprinkles of pop but then comes a super cool guitar, man what is this??" it was incredible.. One More Light hits you in the feelings, chester's voice is amazing, Invisible is "No Roads Left" level, ok, not that high but how many times Mike sings like this? hitting those notes? Sharp edges cool uplifting acoustic guitar (instead of that "the messenger" sad/hope vibe). Heavy... first Chester plus a female voice ever, i get that some people dont like Kiiara voice (i do), but what if that girl was Amy Lee instead? Same song, but Amy Lee singing.. or Hayley Williams from Paramore? A lot of people dream about a Linkin Park and Evanescence colab, or Linkin Park and Paramore collab.. Would Heavy be hated like it was? just because is "pop"? It is a creative album, but unfortunatelly is exactly what i've said.. people throw under the "no guitars no scream just pop shit i hate it LP is dead" bus.

  11. I think Linkin Park has a main problem, and that problem is.... Warner, this is why:

Back in the days, LP had some trouble to find a label, so after a lot of attempts, they had a deal with Warner.

HT was a instant success.. Warner was amazed on how well the album performed.

So warner was like "OMG, we won the lotery, LP is a huge success, alright, we need more", and LP was like "Hold on, we were thinking about making a...." and warner was like: "NO. WE. NEED. MOAR.", so here it is.. Meteora, and is funny because you can see that warner "invested" a lot more on LP, so the songs are more produced than HT, keeping the essence of LP but adding more sutff (Breaking The Habit orchestra, Nobody's Listening cool and different instruments, etc...)

Another huge sucess, so after Meteora, LP was like "alright Warner, sit here, let's talk.. both of our albums were a sucess, right? Cool, now we want to do something new" and Warner was  like "But.... But... The sales... the numbers... You know what? NO. We want Meteora 2.0" and LP "What about 50/50? We do some old style songs (Given Up, No More Sorrow) and we also do something new", so there's Minutes To Midnight. The album had good sales, good numbers..

So, after 3 albums, LP was like "Alright Warner, this is the deal..3 albums, huge sales, good numbers, So... Next album, we are doing what we want... Alright? Ok Byeeee", and considering the Meteora / Hybrid Theory style was dying at this point, Warner was like "Ok than... You have credit, do something good" So ATS was a pure Linkin Park production, ignoring Live format, Radio format, it was 100% on LP hands, and the album was amazing, it was creative, really creative, it tells a story, the production level is INSANE... It was made with love and care. i do think ATS was their best album, but i dont think it was downhill from here...

Now we have Living Things, in my opinion the weakest LP album, not because is bad, or not well produced, but because most of the songs sounds the same, there's too much eletronic but not in a good and creative way like ATS, even some basic instruments like drums and guitars are eletronic, that makes the album sound the same start to finish. But it had good radio songs, so it was an OK album. And considering LT was following the "pop wave" that was spread out on music industry, i dont think they had that many problems.

After 4 albums, the band decided to "return" to their roots, i feel like THP was: "Hello there old fan from HT / Meteora that is pissed because we dont do heavy stuff anymore... We can still do that.. Don`t believe me? Please, sit here this other guy that never heard our heavy stuff and enjoy... We called it The Hunting Party", THP definatelly doesnt have  a huge production level in terms of instruments and creativity, but that was the idea... "Raw and powerfull album", the thing is, Warner was like "Hold on.... Living Things was a good album.. Pop is the new thing... and now you guys want to do heavy stuff?? That style is dead already... and what about the new audiance? Cmon man, at least throw some pop songs there, oh and BTW, Final Masquerade is the first single" and LP was "NO.. ok, fine, we can throw some pop songs there, but the single is GATS". I think the only problem with THP is that, the objective of "we can still do heavy stuff" was delivered to a new audiance only, that came along with ATS and LT and didnt cared about the "old days", The "old fan base that hated everything since Meteora" didnt cared anymore.

And finally, One More Light was a Pop / Mainstream album, but it was creative, and overall a good album.

So i dont think LP had any "downhill", i just think they hated Warner since the beggining, and sometimes, in some albums, you can see that clearly... and they have some troubles with some "fans" because aparently, after 7 albums, some people still dont understand that LP dont make the same thing over and over.. Every album is different, doesnt matter if it is pop, rock, eletronic, folk, funk, country. Every. Album. Is. Different.
