Show Notes:

- Mike's vocoder wasn't working on 'The Radiance'.

- During the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' Mike rapped verse 1 of 'A Place For My Head' followed by Chester singing the bridge, after this Rob started a drum solo.

Note: This is a review of a DSP (in case you haven’t read the title), so it won’t compare to the actual feeling of the show. Read it anyway. This is also REALLY bad :P

Well, this is pretty much my first time ever doing this. A review of any kind. TIME TO SCREW UP! Why did I pick this show? No reason, actually. I’ve been told that this is a really good 2011 show, so I thought I’d get the DSP. First time listening through it as I write this. I also don’t know the setlist so everything comes as a surprise.

  • The Requiem

Sounds like a good crowd for the show. The echoing sound of Requiem is something to marvel. I really love this song. It was the first song I’ve ever heard at a live event ever. The vocoder vocals are awesome too. This song is a great show starter. The effects around the vocals are really amazing too. Joe’s scratching on the Savio speech gives more dimension to the song to. It’s really a great song. 10/10

  • Faint

Amazing transition. Amazing strings. Amazing drums. OH GOD THE GUITAR. The ATS era brought distorted guitars for some reason in favor of the ATS songs. It benefits the songs of ATS, but thats it. Anyway, Chester nailed the songs. Bridge is awesome in the performance. Crowd sounds really great. Now for the outro. The outro of Faint is honestly one of my favorite things of a Linkin Park show. Damn, if the guitar didn’t sound so bad the outro would of been pretty good. 9/10

  • Lying From You

Mike gets so pumped on the intro for this song for some reason. 90% of the recent performances have him saying the words “GET THE FUCK UP” to the crowd. I love how Chester lets the crowd sing his verses. Oh wow, the second chorus. Jesus, the crowd is great at this show. Another great bridge. Chester’s on fire! Damn, this crowd can freaking SING. Amazing performance. 10/10

  • Given Up

You can barely hear the clapping on the intro. Guitars actually sound pretty good on this song. The chorus of this song is really cool. Whoa, “and NO one cares.” I like to point out these little things that don’t happen all the time. Bridge is pretty good. Great, in fact. Too bad the guitars are shit. That scream is probably the most intense thing on MTM. Chester screwed up the end of the last chorus. Good outro. 7/10

  • What I’ve Done

Crowd interaction? Holy crap. This is the song that got me into LP. The piano is simple yet really catchy. The distorted guitars kind of fit this song in a way. The chorus is really good. I’ll probably be able to relate to it in the future. Guitar solo is bad with the distorted guitars but Brad had did some improv. near the middle of it, so that makes it cool. Love the buildup into the final verse. Mike’s “na na na” is something I really enjoy for no apparent reason. Just really fits the song. 9/10

  • No More Sorrow

You have to love the intro to this song. It’s really, REALLY good. The guitars sound great on the intro. The drums behind the guitar are also amazing. One of my favorite intros by the band. Then the end of the intro into the song is an amazing transition. The intro of the song is enough to give someone an orgasm in the ears. Epic scream at the end of the real intro. This is probably one of the best heavy songs from the MTM - LT era. They really shouldn’t have dropped this song. The lyrics are really deep. Chester’s nailing this shit. Mike’s background vocals are awesome. The bridge, oh god. AMAZING. That scream, lord. That echo is just sick. The guitars sound great on this song. A+ performance of this song for the ATS era. They need to bring this song back. Outro scream is amazing too. 10/10

  • From The Inside

OH GOD FROM THE INSIDE. YES. One of my all time favorite Linkin Park songs. I say that about a lot of songs, but this time I’m not lost in the moment. The intro is pretty cool. Guitars are bad, sadly. Only because of the ATS DSP style. The guitars randomly seem to become normal before the end of the song. Chester’s vocals at the end of the second chorus sound cool (the “and throw it all away” part). The bridge. The fucking bridge. JESUS that was amazing. Those ten seconds were probably the highlight of the show. EPIC. GREAT performance. 10/10

  • Jornada del Muerto

One of the greatest transitions ever. Oh crap, was that Mike? Epic improvisation on the intro. This song is really great. The ATS style really compliments the synths. This should be longer. It needs to be a full-length songs. Outro improv is great too. 10/10

  • Waiting For The End

Starts off with the crowd screaming and Mike telling them to get there hands up. This is one of those songs that sound great in the DSP. Mike’s rapping is really good. I love the way they transition background vocals. Chester backs up Mike on the intro then Mike backs up Chester for pretty much the rest of the song (until the bridge). Mike nailed the bridge. I love that distorted effect on the guitar. Chester isn’t audible for the first bit of the final verse, but then comes back in a big way. Great performance. 9/10

  • Burning In The Skies

Chester compliments the crowd by saying “You guys are kicking ass out there!”. BITS is a really good song. The intro effect before the piano kicks in is really cool. Mike improvisation is always welcome. The beginning is really great. I honestly don’t get why people wouldn’t like this song. The song is really amazing. This is one of the songs Mike nails the vocals for (unlike the beginning of VICTIMIZED). Mike’s background vocals behind Chester singing the chorus really blends with the song. The guitar solo is kinda bad at this show. Chester improv? All better! “Swimming in the smoke of bridges I have burned…” is probably one of my favorite choruses by LP. 8/10

  • Numb

Numb is probably one of the most well known songs of the 2000s. The song was a single TWICE (Numb/Encore) I love the intro samples. The piano is really cool behind the guitars. This performance is kinda weak in all honesty. The only part with some energy is the bridge. The outro portion with the samples is amazing. Overall it was a solid performance. The outro piano transition is great. 6/10

  • The Radiance

Oh dear god. This is by far the GREATEST transition song ever. The piano behind Oppenheimer really adds an emotional atmosphere. Oh god. Mike’s actually SINGING the vocals. Holy shit. This is way better than the vocoder. The transition into Iridescent is actually really good. BEAUTIFUL performance. 10/10

  • Iridescent

The ballad of the show. I love the way the drums kick in when Chester comes in. The intro of the song. I really have no words to describe this song. I’m one of those people who really loved ATS. The guitars are really unneeded until the bridge. The vocals are great so far. And now one of the most epic part of shows. The entire band and the crowd singing together. “Let it go” over and over completes the song. The band and the crowd are one during that portion. Really a huge song to have in the setlist. A great performance. Nearly brought me to tears during the intro. 10/10

  • Fallout

This transition is one I don’t really care about. It’s not good or bad. It has a cool transition from the vocoder into Mike’s vocals. Catalyst can go perfectly well without this. Overall though it was pretty good. 8/10

  • The Catalyst

The intro strings are haunting. Then the drums and the scratching together are really good. The slightly mechanical vocals by both of them are really great. This performance is GREAT. The vocals are really strong. This is probably the best performance of Catalyst I’ve heard so far. Mike sounds really pissed, but that’s a good thing for this song. Chester’s scream on the bridge is fucking AMAZING. An actual death scream in the ATS era? Dear jesus. That was a miracle. The soft part of the song is really good too. Chester and Mike singing together in unison is really great. Then Chester takes the lead and Mike goes back to rapping. The transition between the two are really great. This song in its entirety is a highlight of the show. 10/10 (Would give it more if I could)

  • Shadow Of The Day

Really, I’m not a fan of this song. I’m starting to grow an appreciation for it the more I listen to it (Mansfield 2007 & Canberra 2010 (Second Show) are the only two I really enjoyed) The lyrics are really good, but having this song right after that amazing, high-energy performance really kills the mood. It takes awhile for the song to build up. Everything past the guitar solo is the part of the song I enjoy. The rest of it is really boring to me. The music video really doesn’t fit. Wow, Chester screaming on this song is really cool. That’s why I enjoy the song, Chester’s screaming on the end of this part. You really can’t find a performance of SOTD where he screams on the part before the solo. 9/10

  • In The End

The best known Linkin Park song out there. This song is the greatest love song in the history of Alternative Rock & Nu-Metal. The transition between Mike & Chester is really great. The ATS era has a lot of noticeable strings. Based on the really high pitched girl squealing, I’m assuming Mike just went into the crowd. Besides Iridescent, this is the one song that has a bridge that the crowd actually sings well. The crowd is amazing at this show, can’t stress that enough. Great performance overall. The outro piano samples are something I really enjoy from this song. 10/10

  • Bleed It Out

Intro screw-up much? I prefer this song over OSC as a show closer, but w/e. Mike’s rapping is awesome, really intense at this show. Mike’s screwing Chester on the song. Mike’s background vocals behind Chester’s vocals don’t really fit, but when the second chorus comes in, his “ooohs” go well. And now for one of the great things about Bleed It Out: It gave APFMH a chance to be played. Even if it was just this bit of the song, I’d take that over nothing. APFMH is the greatest song to ever be created. Chester didn’t really do the bridge of the song justice, but Mike did really great. Rob’s solo is the only moment where he really shines and gets his moment in the ATS era. His drumming is insane on this solo. The part where Mike sings Chester’s part over the bridge & plays the piano is new. That’s cool. The end of Bleed It Out could be better. Chester sounds tired by this point. Amazing scream at the end, though. Decent performance overall. 8/10

  • Empty Spaces

Sounds like the bands back after ENDLESS “LINKIN PARK” chanting. Really short transition but WTCFM wouldn’t be complete without it. Megaphone time. Brad didn’t speak anything unlike most performances… 8/10

  • When They Come For Me

WTCFM is the greatest song on ATS. The drums and the dirty samples along with the rapping and Chester’s African tribe-like vocals give you an image where theres some ceremony or something going on. The drums are over the place in this song, which is good. Chester’s vocals are amazing. Just the “ahhh” part is great. The bridge is freaking great too. Chester actually saying something in the song is cool. I really can’t describe this song. I’m having trouble finding words to describe this shit. I can’t say anything. This is pure sex to my eardrums. 10/10

  • Papercut

Papercut. Jesus christ. The most EPIC song to be in an encore for the ATS era. “Bounce, bounce, get the fuck up!” Mike’s pumped. Chester’s screams behind Mike on the second verse are epic, the Mike’s whispering into the chorus. would probably be considered sexy to any fangirl. The bridge is sick. Everything is just SICK. This song is really fucking epic. The strings on the outro kinda kill the mood for me. I honestly don’t know if they’re strings or trumpets. 9/10

  • New Divide

Really short Synth Intro on this performance. Distorted guitars are work on this one (although everything sounds better without them). I haven’t seen any Transformers movies ever or even liked that franchise, but I guess it has to be really cool if they created an entire fucking song for a single movie. I’m having trouble describing what I’m hearing right now. Killer encore. The bridge of New Divide has crowd singing! Always good. Chester fucking NAILED the song. Great performance again. 9/10

  • Crawling

Recently being dropped from the Honda Civic Tour, its nice to hear it again. Also a reminder of why it was dropped. Crowd mixing got really fucked. Either they were confused as fuck or Pooch did something wrong. Chester can’t do the intro justice anymore. The effects of the first verse are really cool. The bridge doesn’t sound that good anymore. Why does that same bitch in the crowd keep screaming? The guitar would probably make up for the vocals, but no. They’re screwed. I was sad at first when Crawling was dropped, but now I’m kinda glad it was considering how tough this sounds for Chester. But amazing scream the end the song. 7/10

  • One Step Closer

One of the most appreciated songs on these forums. Honestly, I think we’d all die if this song was ever dropped permanently. Chester is nailing the vocals. Mike isn’t really doing his part justice anymore, though. The bridge is intense as hell. Chester is kicking ass. Great verses by Chester. Chester fucking killed it. Outro is freaking epic. Rob slightly fucked the beginning of the outro. They all fucked up, actually. GREAT scream to end the show. You can still hear that same bitch screaming for the entire fadeout. 9/10

By far one of the greatest performances of 2011, if not the best. It’s the best one I’ve heard so far for the ATS era. But to be fair I’ve only listened to one other DSP in full from this album cycle. This DSP is a must have. Get it now.

HIGHLIGHTS: NMS Intro; Iridescent Bridge; Jornada del Muerto; BITS Intro; The Catalyst; WTCFM
