Linkin Park Not Performing at Rock am Ring & Rock im Park 2025

Recommended Posts

A new interview with Matt Schwarz, organizer of Rock am Ring and Rock im Park and CEO of PRK DreamHaus and eventimpresents, reveals more about Linkin Park's situation in Germany with live shows. Of note, he says that the band will not perform at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2025, but that his team personally delivered offers to the band in Los Angeles and tried everything they could to get LP.

Both festivals have been announcing a few bands at a time over the course of quite a few weeks, intentionally drawing hype to the artist drops by leaving key bands out. As of today, there is still a headliner missing and many fans have been replying to the festivals on social media asking for Linkin Park. However, after the From Zero World Tour was announced, it looked quite unlikely LP would perform at the festival.

MoreCore: There are still a few bands missing. And we want to address the elephant in the room. Will Linkin Park be the missing headliner at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park?

Matt Schwarz: Linkin Park will not be playing next year. Of course we would have liked that very much and we tried everything to get the band to do it, but it takes two to tango.

I have been closely associated with the band for many years and have organized numerous tours for Linkin Park, Fort Minor and Dead by Sunrise in the past.

Germany is an absolutely key market for the band, if not their most important market worldwide. We presented the festival offers to them personally in Los Angeles, but the band strategically decided against a festival tour in Germany and instead went for their own stadium tour, which they sold out immediately after advance sales began. We are very happy about their success.

MoreCore: OK, so the festival lineup is a bit like football. And that also means that everyone is a better coach and knows better. You regularly interact with your fans and ask them for feedback. In the case of Linkin Park, you get the impression that people take it for granted that they will come. How do you deal with these expectations?

Matt Schwarz: Our aim is always to fulfill the many wishes and expectations of our fans. That's why we are in constant contact with our fans - whether through direct communication or surveys. A good example of this is Bring Me The Horizon, who were booked as headliners for the anniversaries because they were by far number 1 in this year's fan vote.

It was anything but easy: The band had originally planned to take a live break in 2025 and not play any shows in Europe.

t was an intensive process to make these EU-exclusive shows at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park possible - especially because the preparations for such one-off shows pose enormous logistical and organizational challenges for the band and crew. We greatly appreciate the lively discussions in our community about the festivals and the line-up. We are thrilled that many fans are so passionate about the festivals and have a strong emotional connection with them. This makes us proud and confirms the continued relevance of Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.

The interview is extremely in-depth and a great read for fans of live music in general. Source here.
