Exclusive: Projekt Revolution Breaks

hahninator

Summary

A few years ago, LP collectors and fans alike saw a vinyl for sale on eBay titled "Projekt Revolution Breaks by DJ Focus". This vinyl was used on Projekt Revolution 2002 for the DJ battles that Linkin Park held on the tour. Baffled by the vinyl, a collector that's friends with LPLive named Neil went on a hunt to find a copy that he could have for himself. Once he obtained it, he gladly shared the vinyl with us for an exclusive. It is unknown what hand Linkin Park had in the development of this vinyl, but there is a lot of Hybrid Theory sampled on it.

Since 2009, a few more have popped up across the web. A lot of them have handwritten covers, with some saying "only 1,050 produced / only 50 produced in (state)". The DJ battles were local competitions the band held in select Projekt Revolution 2002 cities to see who would get to have a DJ spot at the local tour stop. The winner of the entire competition got to go to Mexico with Linkin Park when they opened for Korn at the end of the tour for a one-off performance.

Side 1 is 10:45. It contains a lot of random samples and generic hip hop beats and scratches.

Side 2 is 10:05. It contains a lot of Linkin Park samples. In order (to the best of our knowledge):

With You intro and scratching,

A Place For My Head samples, guitar and One Step Closer "break" vocal sample,

Points Of Authority "you just won't last" vocal sample, beat, and sample,

A Place For My Head intro guitar, One Step Closer "break" vocal sample, and With You sample,

Random beat with In The End samples, random other song samples (non-LP), "before" Chester vocal sample,

Random beats, "you just won't last" Points vocal sample over random beats, other Points samples, A Place For My Head slowed intro guitar,

Remixed Chester vocal samples, remixed One Step Closer intro guitar,

Random extended hip hop beat.
