  1. So tomorrow morning it’s all announced with tickets, etc? Definitely going to Boston. I’m in the LPU, too.
  2. Will try to go to the Boston show. Been to every show in my home state since 2007.
  3. Listened the other night and now I was able to enjoy it in my car, loud. 01. From Zero (Intro): Reminds me of like Disney’s Hercules or something, like the whole ‘’being reborn’’ choir thing, the music section. I get the idea that they were going for, though, with the whole reborn thing. Definitely Mike’s kid or something talking, I’ve heard some people say it’s Emily, definitely not at all, sounds like a boy, probably Otis. 02. The Emptiness Machine: I’ll admit, I didn’t want to like this song when it first dropped. But I ended up liking it. It’s a good song. One of the best on the album. Has a different sound than a lot of other songs on the album, actually, IMO. It’s a little on the Minutes To Midnight side with the punky rock influence but still keeping things alternative. Has good melodies, too, the ‘’I only wanted to be part of’’ line always gets stuck in my head. The final chorus is also great with the whole ‘’so fucking naive’’ lyric change. If I hadn’t listened to this song a bunch before I heard the album, it might be my favorite track on the album. 03. Cut The Bridge: People said this song was for Minutes To Midnight fans, it does have that alternative rock feeling and it’s similar to Bleed It Out in some ways. I feel like this song may be a style that the band could utizlize in the future, not to ‘’nu-metal’’ sounding but also rocky with rapping. Overall, this song is good. It’s not my favorite, but it’s pretty good. The chorus is pretty good, good vocals from Emily and Mike on this one. 04. Heavy Is The Crown: Not a bad song. Not my favorite, though. I can see why they picked it as a single or an early release song, for sure. The obvious Given Up copy scream wasn’t my favorite thing, don’t think the song really needed it, but I feel like Mike is trying to prove something by having Emily do that kind of stuff. The intro of the song is catchy-annoying and gets stuck in my head. The whole song gets stuck in my head, actually. 05. Over Each Other: I actually don’t mind this song. It has good singing, good melodies. Catchy. I like how it’s poppy but also has a rock base. Not sure why One More Light couldn’t have been more like that, they didn’t need all the trap beats and chipmunk effects in order to write good pop songs. This song reminds me of One More Light in some ways. Overall, it’s a good song. The music video was kind of corny to me, but the song is good. Also, not trying to make this sound like a criticism because it’s not, but this doesn’t sound like ‘’Linkin Park’’ at all to me, not saying it’s a bad song, it’s a good song, it’s just that it doesn’t have that signature Linkin Park sound at all to me. Sounds like maybe a song Mike could have wrote with a featured artist or something like he was doing for the early part of the 2020’s. 06. Casualty: Possibly my favorite song on the album. It’s heavy as hell, it’s in your face, it’s good. Mike’s aggressive singing in the verses reminds me of Helmet. The song in general reminds me of Slipknot, like the music and stuff. I’ve seen people compare this song to War, it’s actually not similar to War at all. War was a straight forward punk rock/hardcore song, dare I say almost like a neo-nazi type of sound hahaha. This song is like Keys To The Kingdom on crack. It’s awesome. Emily can definitely scream. I’d enjoy this song live if I was at a Linkin Park show, for sure. The lyrics are kind of cool in the verses, too. Different for Linkin Park. It just slays. 07. Overflow: This is the first song I didn’t really like that much. Has a Deftones kind of vibe to it, and I’ve never been a Deftones fan. Emily’s singing reminds me of like Grimes on Bring Me The Horizon’s song called Nihilist Blues, as well as a song called Limosine that they did with a singer named Aurora. The ending of the song, with the little part of ‘’Fuse’’ from the Xero demo is funny. Even funnier because that track wasn’t on the Hybrid Theory 20th Anniversary box set. Kind of cool because by doing that, it’s kept more of a ‘’song that only the hardcore fans know’’ type of thing. 08. Two Faced: This song needs to be a single. It will blow up huge if so. Has a huge chorus. The interplay between Emily and Mike is good in some sections, too. The whole ‘’stop yelling at me’’ section is totally One Step Closer esque. Not trying to sound misogynistic but I can see teenage girls 20’s/30’s something women raging to this song. It might become an anthem. Personally, I don’t love the song, I probably would have when I was younger. But it’s not a bad song. 09. Stained: Definitely has a 2010’s style and sound. Reminds me of a lot of poppy female singers from that decade with the huge anthems, like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, etc. I think this song would fair well on radio, possibly. The chorus is kind of annoying-ish but meh. 10. IGYEIH: Was shocked at how heavy this song was. The intro is 100% Bring Me The Horizon’s latest album. It’s a nu-metalish style track, for sure. The screams are intense, the singing is intense, I almost don’t like how screamy it is. They may have went a tad overkill here. But it’s a good song. 11. Good Things Go: This song was the song that I was always the most excited to first hear. It’s a great song. Tied with Casualty as my favorite song on the album. Love the intro, love the moodiness of the song, the vibe. Lyrics are good. Touch a little too close to home for me. Emily’s singing is good on this song, it’s kind of got that Demi Lovato/Katy Perry thing going on but it’s different in this track compared to say a song like Stained. It reminds me of some of the songs Machine Gun Kelly has done with female artists on his more recent stuff, like with PVris or whatever and some other stuff. This song is totally a 2020’s vibe, I think when we look back at this decade, songs like this will be remembered, this style. It’s different from the 2010’s pop style. Overall, a good closing track. Ranking the album as a whole, I would say it’s better than One More Light and The Hunting Party for sure, those two albums were garbage IMO aside from a few tracks. It’s probably tied with LIVING THINGS. I don’t really like A Thousand Suns but it’s not as good as A Thousand Suns, IMO. Obviously I wouldn’t rank it anywhere near my precious babies (the 2000’s LP). But yeah, it’s not a bad album, it’s better than their last two albums for sure and is equal to LIVING THINGS. I think they should play the whole album live. That’s one thing I want to say is that I feel like this new version of the band works better when they play the newer stuff and the later LP albums. A lot of the stuff from the first three LP albums is too Chester IMO, but they should still play the singles from all those albums, maybe drop Given Up at future shows, I feel like that was the weakest live song.
