112cancelledshow0Cancelled Show020304050607080910111213141516171819202122232425- On June 2, 2003, an announcement on the band's website stated, "Chester Bennington, vocalist for the rock band Linkin Park was admitted to a Los Angeles area hospital last Friday afternoon after an attack of severe back and abdominal pains. Bennington remains hospitalized as doctors are still trying to determine the cause of these ailments. All touring and video shoot plans in Europe have been put on hold this month as we make sure Chester fully recovers. We wish him the best, and will keep everyone posted as to his condition."
- Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, 3 Doors Down and Steve-0 (who was still in jail) all canceled their appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park 2003. Placebo was the official replacement announced on the 4th before the festival. Pinkpop switched its schedule around (after being asked by Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur) to make Placebo be able to play Rock am Ring and Rock im Park so that their gear is there in time.
First of all I'd like to thank everyone from fans & bands to my friends, and the hospital staff who have been very supportive and understanding of my situation. I finally got out of the hospital over the weekend after 9 days, and the doctor instructed me to rest for the next 2 - 3 weeks. Right now it seems like it was some bacteria or virus that spread throughout my intestines and body, putting me in intense pain. It also would not let me eat for a week. My doctors and nurses were amazing, and very helpful during my stay.
We are working on when we will be making up the missed European headline dates, and I am really bummed we had to miss the festivals. I plan on playing our warm up show in Las Vegas on June 27th, and ripping everyone's face off this summer on SUMMER SANITARIUM. I also wanted to say I truly appreciate the tens of thousands of get-well emails I got from fans. Our fans really are the best in the world.

- The band unfortunately had to cancel their 2008 appearance at the same festival, making it the only festival they have cancelled twice on. In 2008, it was due to Brad being sick.
- In Flames replaced Linkin Park on the bill. They wore self made "LINKIN FLAMES" shirts on stage since they are fans of the band. Xzibit also canceled.
- This was going to be Linkin Park's first show in Sweden, after a Stockholm show in 2001 was canceled. The band's first show in Sweden did not come until May 2007.

Bridge16One Step CloserReanimated Bridge- Before 'A Place For My Head', Chester said the fans brought him out of the "shithole" he was in earlier in the day. In December 2014, a review of the show was found from BBC with some interesting information about Chester: "Linkin Park performed at Rock City in Nottingham last night (Monday), despite the lead singer hurting his hand just minutes before going on stage. There were about 1000 fans there and the band played tracks from their new album 'Meteora' due out later this month. Chester Bennington, the lead singer, took his shirt off to show off his skinny tattooed body - much to the approval of the girls in the crowd. Ten minutes before the gig he punched the dressing room wall and badly bruised his hand. He had to keep an ice pack on it but told us he wasn't fazed by his injury:
"My hand doesn't matter, you can cut it off for all I care. As long as my voice works."
"If I lost all feeling from my neck down, if you could string me up and I could sing, I'd be there doing the shows."
"The fans come first and the shows come first too and that's all that matters to us. We really don't care about anything else except for the music and the kids.""
- This was a private show by BBC Radio 1. During "UK Week" (a promo for LPU members and LP fans) by the band, the LPU offered tickets to Nottingham, London, Top Of The Pops, Manchester, and CD:UK/Headliners. The Nottingham show was "event #2" on the list with no description (no date, time or location), but LPU'ers were allowed to enter for tickets and if they won, they were notified of the date, location, etc of the show. A small Meet & Greet was held before the show, but the LPU'ers were encouraged to enter to win M&G's for other shows in the UK that week, presumably to not fill up the Nottingham M&G with a lot of fans. To gain admission to the show, either you won tickets from the LP Underground or via BBC Radio 1.
- The announcement of the show by BBC said, "To celebrate the launch of their incredible new album 'Meteora', Linkin Park will be playing a gig exclusively for Radio 1 at Nottingham's Rock City Monday 3rd March. Lamacq Live on March 3rd will bring you a Linkin Park Special with a headline set, backstage interviews & reveiw live from Nottingham. All this week Jo Whiley, Lamacq Live, the Rock Show and Colin Murray will be giving away tickets on air on BBC RADIO 1. Your last chance to get hold of a pair of tickets to the gig will be on Saturday March 1st during Scott Mills show when Colin Murray will be roaming the streets of Nottingham looking for deserving fans to give the few remaining tickets away."
- The first public recordings of the new Meteora songs came from this show ('Don't Stay,' 'Somewhere I Belong,' 'Lying From You,' 'Faint,' and 'From The Inside') via the online webcast and the radio broadcast. 'Hit The Floor' and 'Easier To Run' were cut.

- For unknown reasons, all of the instrumental soundcheck songs with two guitar parts in them were performed without one of their guitar parts. 'Somewhere I Belong', 'Faint', and the first take of 'From The Inside' were all soundchecked without Mike's guitar part, while the second take of 'From The Inside' was soundchecked without Brad's guitar part.
- Brad, Phoenix, and Rob briefly played the Jeopardy theme song during the break between the 'Faint' instrumental and the first 'From The Inside' instrumental.
- In addition to the song being performed more substantially during the show itself, the guitar riff from 'A.06' was also played in between 'Lying From You' and 'Faint' during the soundcheck.
- Snippets of 'My Own Summer' by Deftones were performed at two different points, once between 'Faint' and 'From The Inside' during the soundcheck, and again right before 'A.06' during the show.
- Once fans were let into the building, the band played a shortened 'Don't Stay' prior to the "real" start of the performance.
- A brief snippet of 'Big Bottom' by Spinal Tap (mainly Phoenix playing the famous bassline and Chester singing the opening line of lyrics) was performed in between' Somewhere I Belong' and 'Lying From You' during the show portion.
- The intro to 'A Place for My Head' was played by fan request, but the song was aborted due to time constraints. After more fan requests two days later at the CD:UK/Headliners show, it was played in full.
- A drum/bass teaser of 'Dialate' was performed after the 'A Place for My Head' intro.
- A second take of 'Somewhere I Belong' was attempted at the end of the show, but aborted because someone broke a string.
- Longstanding rumors claim that the band covered 'United States Of Whatever' by Liam Lynch at this show - this isn't true. Following the aborted second take of 'Somewhere I Belong', Chester and Mike made a couple references to the song (basically just saying something funny and ending with "and I was like...WHATEVA!!!!"), but the song wasn't really played.
- Mike was sick at this performance.
- Very few Linkin Park fans were at this show, but the LPU gave away free tickets to those who wanted to attend (as a part of "UK Week").

Alright, it seems we've got some real fans in here today" while Mike said, "You guys are sick."
- Linkin Park played 'A.06' for the UK Linkin Park fans in attendance, after they shouted for it. This happened again for the same group of fans at the August 21, 2003 show at London's Kerrang! Awards.
- 'A Place For My Head' was unplanned. The band played it because some gear broke and fans had requested it two days prior at Top Of The Pops as well as at this show.
- Before 'One Step Closer,' Chester pulled a fan up from the front row. He said, "He's been singing every word to every song" before having him come on stage and sing with him.
- The exact setlist is unknown. Linkin Park played the five new Meteora songs they played at Top Of The Pops as well as 'A.06', 'In The End', 'A Place For My Head', and 'One Step Closer'. It is possible that 'A.06' is in the wrong spot on our setlist, but we are pretty positive the rest is correct.
- The LP Underground announcement about the show read, "Linkin Park will be performing in London, UK on 8th March 2003, for a TV show called CDUK and we have a limited amount of FREE tickets to offer Linkin Park fans and their friends. This exclusive recording will be taking place in Waterloo from approx 2pm to 5pm and all guests are required to be 16yrs+ (photo id will be required)."

LP finished the set regardless, but it seems this is the first time that the band was bottled since 2001. Linkin Park later called this the hardest show they have ever played.

wow. sorry we haven't written. things have been busy, as you can imagine. anyway, summer sanitarium was great. we got to hang out with metallica a bit, and i have to say that i haven't met a band whose day-to-day demeanor and friendliness has impressed me as much as those guys. they are as pleasant as they are talented.
we also met a lot of fans, old and new, at the shows. thanks for being there--you made the shows amazing.
now, we're in dublin, ireland. i just got back to my hotel--phoenix and i went with some friends to a pub and had a couple of pints and watched a football game on TV. tomorrow is the show, and then on to reading and leeds. we're excited to be back here and ready to give you all a good show. bring your energy. see you then.
