  1. LOL WOW. Okay so first of all, this is clearly a live vocals, pre-recorded music performance - NOTHING Joe, Rob, Dave, or Jeremy are doing for the first half of the song lines up with the audio. I literally thought the video was just horribly out of sync until the vocals came in. The vocals are like 2 bars behind the track for that entire portion, and all of the instrumentalists are playing in sync with the vocals, not the audio. Probably a case of the track being played in their in-ears not being synced with the playback of the audio going to the broadcast feed.

What I don't understand is how they randomly manage to get back in sync without any apparent confusion after the first chorus, lol.

They are not out of sync at any time, If you listen carefuly you can heard that the instrumental starts twice, at the second 00:34 the REAL instrumental being actually played on the stage starts (and you can see the crowd react to that) I guess they realize the fuck up and try to fix the mess (around 01:15 you can hear both instrumentals playing at the same time and that keeps hapenning until minute 2 where everything gets fixed and the on stage instrumental is the only one that plays). I don't think that this happens on the stage and is just a mess on the broadcast side, but who knows.

  2. Ok we're obviously slowly walking into a dead end here. We're going to need to compile a list of LA-area record stores and start emailing them.

Yeah, looks like it's the way to go now. Unless those 2 people that we're waiting answer of actually answer this week... Neve loose hope. Despair will never win!! (xD)

    My Research Daily Update:

I'm waiting replies from Lance & Miller and a seller (Music Obsession) who said they will look if they have something.

Lance replied to me yesteday : "I haven't forgotten you, but the stuff I was looking for isn't here at my house. I thought it was. Let me check this weekend in my storage. Best, Lance"

So we are expecting news during this weekend from Lance and in 2 days from Afresh91.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________

-Could you release "Lee Cadena ft Dj E-Man - UN Rapology Mix" from vol 13 ? just curious to listen to it

-Did you Afresh buy it from the same seller as Astat?

-Which site did you both bought if from ?

-There is another seller of vol.11 in Amazon named "tmurrell2" but i've sent him 3 messeges and he haven't replied.

Well, the fact that Lance replied is relieving at best, it means we might get something to listen to the next week :D

About the song, take a loot at your PM ;)

  4.

My Research Daily Update: I have sent 28 pms in total to people associated with Rapologys.

The 9 im still waiting are 3 sellers and 6 people who worked at Rapologys.

I have gotten 16 replies from sellers, but unfortunatly nothing worth mentioning.

and 3 replies from people who worked at Rapologys:

1: Lance Whitfield [Graphic Designer] : (he's is searching, answer pending)

"I'll take a look and see what I might have. Will have to check in my storage and let you know if I can find anything Give me a few days1f60a.png"

2: Lee Cadena [Executive of Rapologys] : (got some general info but he went offline)

"Joseph used to work for me and I had Mike stopping by my office and I had him do some graphics for me. I helped joseph hone his skills by getting him with some Beat Junkies. I helped them get themselves together as a group (Xero) and would introduce them at places like The Whiskey A Go-Go. The Troubadour and The Mint here in L.A."

3: Miller London [urban Network] : (he's is searching, answer pending)

"Most of those CDs are in storage When I get a chance I will see if I can locate them"

The Miller London's answer looks promising. Hope he finds the CDs. I'd gladly buy them (?) hopefully he is allowed to just rip that song. Can't wait ^^

  5. Although I do like this song more than heavy (hell that first chorus of chester and the drums on the background is just amazing) I miss more Mike on it, rapping the shit out of the song. I hope "Sorry for Now" or at least, two/three other songs in this album have Mike rapping on them.

  6. Going off the lead that Mike says "we're back", they could potentially have a track on a third rapology album. I can't find any information on the internet in regards to Rapology 12 or 10. No sales anywhere, no images even. Rapology 9 has a tracklist and it's much too early for anything Mike would be on.

Also what's the first Styles of Beyond track off 14? That'd be nice to hear.

There are a couple of SoB tracks there. I'll be releasing the rest of the tracks as soon as I can dump them.

  7. 1. "Drop" is, for all intents and purposes, an untitled track. An overwhelming majority of tracks on these compilations are just titled "Drop."

    2. "Fiends" is just titled "Fiends" and I'm really not sure why it's being debated. A little common sense makes it clearly obvious that "F/007" is supposed to be "featuring 007," and if you guys would actually bother to look at the rest of the tracklisting you'd see every other artist on these compilations has their record label credited after their song's title. "CO Rap Up" is "courtesy of Rap Up," which is presumably another early indie label name Xero was associated with like Mix Media. Remember, Rap Up gets a shoutout in one of the scratch samples in It's Goin Down.

Sorry for sounding like a dick, I'm just a little confused why anyone would think "F/007 Fiends CO Rap Up" sounds like a song title lol.

1- That looks the case for the Kenji song, as you've said a lot of songs on that record are titled "Drop"

2- It says "CD Rap Up", not "CO Rap Up", anyway, It most probably means Featuing 007 as you've pointed out and CD Rap Up is the label, but the desing of the back cover isnt consistent on that one. It wouldn't make much sense for the song name to be that long anyway. I guess we can end up with Xero ft 007 - Fiends.

  8. If only the band could actually release some kind of compilation of rare & unreleased songs, THAT would be very appreciated by the hardcore fanbase, I don't get why they don't do that. I love the rawness and Mike's early flow here.

I do think they should make releases of this kind of songs. I really like these two demos because of how raw mike sounds, still powerfull and showing the best he does, rapping like there is no tomorrow. I do hope to see some more demos of this years released in the following months, I'll keep an eye for any opportunity I see to purchase and dump them for the community.

    Really cool find!

    So how about Pictureboard now?

    I can dream anyways!

    We all can dream XD

  9. I think it's "I don't wanna talk to you so don't look at me"

I do think the same, or probably a very similar sentence.

So here are some things to discuss :

-I'm trying to get in touch with Lee "The Crusher" Cadena who is the executive of the cds, so if i accomplish it let me know what would you guys like me to ask him biggrin.gif

-Who is Artofficial: at the back cover says "Kenji & Artofficial (of Xero)" does that mean he was part of Xero as well, is he Joe Hahn?

-The year of release as I said it's probably 1997 or early 1998, any proof of anything about the date ?

-Do you think "F/" stands for Feat. and 007 is SoB manager ?

-Who does the backing vocals in "Fiends" is it Mike himself or Mark or someone else ?

-Who is up for writting the lyrics for the songs ?

-Literally any info about Rapology or Urban Network.

    - Some people have already said that Joe Hahn used ArtOfficial as his nickname back then, i think it was Hahninator

    - Some people have suggested that, we might need to wait for Mike's or SoB confirmation on that one.

    - It doesnt sound like Mark, but its not too long to really make some connection out of it

    - There is already a work ongoing on the lyrics. Hahninator has posted most of the Drop lyrics, and Mesck547 has added some to it too

  10.

    Work in progress:

    http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Drop

    http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=F/007_Fiends

    Can someone transcribe the lyrics?

Anyone else thinks that "F/007" means "Feat. 007"?

Some people at lpa think the same but the CD coves look a bit different that other songs. As in, artists names use a bigger font that the song name, and in the case of xero song the f/700 is in a smaller font, just like the other song names. Guess someone might need to confirm that from an appropriate source maybe?
  11. not really check Slip, its dated at 1998 even though its a Hybrid Theory demo

thanks mate we indeed made a great discovery :D

You're welcome. I wouldn't have such a nice piece of the history of Linkin Park and Mike Shinoda if it wasn't for you ;)
  12. As the one who discovered these songs (i posted the original thread)

    https://www.reddit.com/r/LinkinPark/comments/5xb1t1/urban_networks_rapology/

here is some more info about the tracks:

    https://www.discogs.com/Various-Urban-Networks-Rapology-13/release/9521613

    https://www.discogs.com/fr/Various-Rapology-14/release/9622841

I first found them at discogs, if you click on artist the links will lead you to Xero's and Mike Shinoda's pages, further more both collections credit Mike Shinoda as the graphic designer.

also the songs are about 1997-98 even though there is no info of it, thats my belief due to the fact that Rapology 16 was released at 1999 and since Chester joined at 1998-99 (its not sure, at interviews they say 99 but they have released some Hybrid Theory demos at LPU's that are from 1998) these demos should have been released at about 97-98.

*Note: Xero's song is called "Fiends" not "Friends".

Thank you for clarification. Please take a look to the original post admins to add lpdrew to the source as I did add that link to my original post so not only I get credited for it but LP Drew too
  13. Here's something from 20~ years ago that might be of interest to everyone. Two Xero songs featuring Mike and Joe found on Urban Network Magazine's hip-hop compilations Rapology 13 and Rapology 14. The songs are entitled "Drop" and "Fiends".

At the time, Joe used to write reviews for the magazine. Lee Cadena, Rap Editor at Urban Network and creator of the Rapology series, started an artist management and development company in 1998 called LCM which worked with Xero.

While Fiends is under the Xero name, Drop is credited to Kenji and Artofficial. Kenji, also the name of a Fort Minor song on The Rising Tied that everyone knows so well, was one of the names Mike went by as a rapper in the mid-to-late 90s. Artofficial is assumed to be Joe, because Mike mentions him on the song and his scratching is featured all over it.

Mike was involved in the cover art and design for the CD cases...view the art here. We are working on lyrics for the songs...discussion later in this thread.

    YouTube videos courtesy of LPA:

LPLive user Almau: "Hello everyone, some of you might (or might not) remember me from buying recently (without really knowing much) the two CDs posted in this thread (for those Reddit users at least).

Well, long story short, I received them in the mail today. I listened to the songs and they look legit. For those that are interested these are the scans of all the stuff that I received, this includes CDs and covers.

These songs weren't released previously as far as I know I've just dumped the songs in .wav format (as for some reason FLAC export wasn't working correctly in my VLC installation) for you to listen to them. You can download them from here:"

Xero F 007 - Fiends CD RAP UP

3/11 EDIT: Mark Wakefield is on Fiends, doing backing vocals in the chorus. That is also likely Brad on guitar...meaning this is looking like a full effort from Mike, Mark, Joe, and Brad on the song - the same songwriters as Rhinestone from the Xero tape.

Lyrics for Fiends can be found here.

Lyrics for Drop can be found here.

LPL Staff Edit: Thank you to Almamu and LinkinParkDrew for finding these gems.
