How can anyone dislike tribute bands at face value? Even active bands have them - Hardwired follows Metallica on tour and plays around their shows, the night before, etc for example. Even Metallica brings in tribute bands for their 2 show weekends they've been doing lately, around official events.

Of course LP would have tribute bands. The band has not played a show in nearly 7 years and LP is one of the biggest bands in our lifetime - there is a big want to see that music live.

In the End and Hybrid Theory (PT) are doing a great job with setlists and shows. People have a great time at those shows, people who got to see LP and who never got to see LP. It's just to celebrate the music. There's no harm in any of that. The HT band's setlists are really something, that show they have from the arena on YouTube is quite cool. They even play Lost. I'd see that band for sure if they came near me - have seen In the End several times.

LP is on social media and browses it, they've seen these bands multiple times online.

What do you think about Mike's response?

On one hand, there's obviously a demand for LP material in a live setting that LP themselves aren't fulfilling that this tribute band is.

On the other hand, I can see the members of LP feeling weird about it because these guys are touring the world and playing arena shows off the back of LP's body of work. It's like they skipped the grind of making the music and working their way up from the club scene, etc. and they're just touring successfully exclusively off of material made by someone else.

Mike was definitely, in his typically measured and professional way, saying "I wouldn't know about that stuff because I made original music. I was never in the business of copying others."

It reminds me of when he was asked about the DPARK guy. Like he's not gonna be rude or shit on anyone, but he'll also make it very clear that he's not into it.

This is exactly what I think, my posts sometimes look dramatic because my english sucks ass but for me the HT ass holes already crossed the line between a tribute and actually taking advantage and making money from the bands work.

I'll find a way to make money out of LPs legacy seems like that's already okay with everybody.

Tribute bands dressing up and acting like the bands they're paying tribute to is nothing new. And there are plenty of tribute bands out there for other acts that are still touring and recording. Hybrid Theory is far more popular than any tribute band I've ever seen which is why I think it feels exploitative to many people. As long as they cover their bases on the legal side, I don't see any problem with them continuing to pay tribute to a band they obviously have a lot of passion for.

    Pa$$ion

Honestly a very measured and respectful response, of course it's a bit of an awkward topic, but some comments I've seen made it sound like he was going to bash them when this wasn't that

Whats the most controversial comment has ever said? Chvrches is disney commercial music lol

Mike is almost 50, he trashed those guys so bad he is not happy that they are touring the world making money with LPs body of work.

Fuck HT those guys its not a tribute anymore they are just imposters that dont give a shit about Chester's death or the bands legacy they are just making money.

If the band endorsed them it would be another story.

The band release stuff under Warner and  the label must see the importance of that  and find a way to make money with it, thats the only way stuff are going to be released. The band wont post anything just to supply our needs. The "noise" must be BIG.. not 500 fans. if you get what I mean =]

This is the one and only definitive answer.

Warner is always looking a way to make money, there are rare examples of the band releasing something for free... like Final Masquerade acoustic.

LPL definitely is a source for the label to know what we want, youll get SS for MTM20 just be patient.

Lyrics are bland but not the worst lol, do you think runaway or APFMH have Better lyrics ?

    APFMH has a great message.

LP lyrics were perfect, they were delivered in the perfect moment, perfect generation.

without those lyrics we wouldnt be talking about the band right now.

With OML generic lyrics Chester would still be working at Burger King right now.

The synths remind me of Numb, and it could sit on LT with songs like IMR and IBG very easily

I was talking only about lyrics

Instrumental: Doesnt sounds like Meteora to me, the synths are forgettable,  no big chorus, no power chords, very slow pace, very cinematic.

What confuses me the most is that I am like 90% sure that I downloaded a HD version of the BIO music video back in 2007 so there must be at least a 720p or 1080p version. I can't find any hints of a HD download back then anymore so maybe I am just dreaming it up.

probably a 480p extract from a DVD that got upscaled.

  9. Pretty sure that if HT had the lyrics from OML it would have been a flop.

I prefer an authentic vision from the guys who are actually singing and playing the instruments instead of a random team of people creating a vision for another band.

Friendly Fire blows THP out of the water lyrically.

out of the water? that was dramatic.

i dont think that its possible to compare lyrics since most of the lyrics of OML were written by TONS of people, the most un authentic album ever.

I can see LP being back but without Rob... kinda sad. He wasn't part of anything post the HB concert IIRC

i will never undestand all the comments about Rob, people act like if he changed.

He's the most consistent guy in the band, he never liked being on the spotlight.

They for sure know if they've paid this close attention to forums/social media/fan requests for the Projekt Revolution 2002 DVD, "thoughts that take away my pride", Pictureboard, She Couldn't, etc. They are doing everything right with the box sets. 10/10.

IF SOMEONE FROM THE LABEL IS READING THIS

I NEED YESTERNUMB FOR CC20 MIXED BY ETHAN MATES!

  13. I'm glad that because of this spotify physical playlist was released we got Friendly Fire, the 4k of every video (BIO still missing) and people are talking about QWERTY.

I just wished that they made the tracklist special, martinez already pointed out that they just used the album version and didnt care about them having transitions to nowhere...

the video version of Castle Of Glass, which is the best version of the song remanins unreleased, it was the perfect opportunity to release that one too.

Im excited that we still have things to talk about, I hope that the on this release means something... like a rebirth, a message that there's still life for the band.
