If they planning to add option to download the whole audio, like they did with HT20, it would be nice to have the option to download all the videos from the DVDs, but that's a something that they won't do.

I would be happy with just a download of the audio so we don't have to rip it from the DVD ourselves. lol

Other than the unreleased, I hope they release the guest performances on Meteora tour, like Xzibit. Would love those in good quality.

This! I would love to see Projekt Revolution 2003 and 2004 shows with Xzibit, Christian Lindskog, Chad Gray, Bert McCracken and Jonathan Davis. Maybe Snoop Dogg too if they have any shows where he came out on It's Goin' Down.

Yeah pretty sure it's not just a loop thing they played around in the studio with. But I still stick to it - full song, opener idea - went nowhere, they did Forward.

Yet just a theory by myself.

I think A.06 might have been considered for the album opener at one point.

interesting. that’s 15 titles. So it really seems there are 3 completely unreleased songs.

My guess is that Cumulus may actually be one of the songs and had been finished with vocals and everything at NRG, and we’ve never heard the final version.

“Thoughts That Take Away My Pride” is Shifter, Serpent, Resolution, Interrogation, Husky, or Nocturnal

Plaster II might be an interesting working title, maybe for a song we’ve never heard (one of the 3)

Funny enough, Shifter was rumored to be Somewhere I Belong until Pretty Birdy (a completely new working title for us) came out in 2013 and disproved that. Nocturnal was rumored to be Numb.

I have doubts that “Rob’s drum track” got vocals because I think Mike talked about it once in a stream and it got scrapped not long after drums. That being said, I’d still love to hear the instrumental and I think it’s very possible we’ll get it because a pretty big grail.

I think “Rob’s Drum Track” was actually a  full song. Mike mentioned it going into a heavier part after the clip shown. I don’t think the actual song was anything like the fanmade versions we’ve heard.

Right. Rob said he recorded drums for 18 songs. Back in the Hybrid Theory / Meteora era that was always the last thing they did before vocals. So there's potentially 3 fully finished instrumental songs and maybe 4 or 3 with vocals. Not sure because in the studio update about vocals Mike said they were doing 15 songs, but in interviews after the album came out they said they finished 15 songs and 12 made the album. Seems like they count Session as well, which is just an instrumental.

Like i’ve said before, the titles “Shifter” and “Nocturnal”, since they were mentioned by Mike in 2003, right near the album’s release, could actually have been two completely cut and unreleased tracks from Meteora. With this knowledge we also have this instrumental we hear in “Mike’s Shirt” LPUTV which having watched these two clips numerous times, I’ve confirmed that this is also the same track that we hear in the “Summer Sanitarium” LPTV which we know is the instrumental for the obscure “Thoughts That Take Away My Pride” song, originally shown in “Making of Meteora” in a 5 second clip. It is currently (at least i think) the number 1 holy grail to fans, and was 100% not a demo of a song on the album. The instrumental is far too different than any album track we know. One of these two titles we know could perhaps belong to this song. And it was likely a finished song, if they used the instrumental for it 4 years later in 2007. This is some stuff I hope the band talks about more when MT20 comes around, because this song has NEVER been talked about that I know of. It’s the only song they’ve ever “teased” with clips but never actually talked about.

Keep in mind we don't know the working titles for over half of the album. Those titles, as well as the titles we've seen on the songboard, might be songs that made the album. They did say 15 songs were done (even the board had 15 titles) and only 12 were picked for the album, so there's definitely some unreleased songs with vocals we might be getting next year.

  4. There are actually titles we've heard on interviews and seen on the Making of Meteora DVD (although some might be just working titles for songs on the album). Even lyrics they have used on the art for that album that don't belong to any released song. They did write while on tour and had plenty of demos when they started putting together the album. 80 was the number Phoenix said. They cut that number in half and moved on from there. Rob said he recorded drums for 18 songs. Back then that was the last thing they did before vocals. Mike said they would be recording vocals for 15 songs. Meteora has 11 with vocals. That's at least 4 unreleased songs with vocals that can be released next year and maybe 3 fully fleshed-out instrumentals. How many LPU demos from the Meteora era had live drums? Serious question.

  5. Billboard reports that MTV Entertainment Studios and Glass Entertainment Group have teamed up for a new docuseries called "MTV’s Family Legacy" that celebrates events and iconic artists through the eyes of their children. Subjects of the series include Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar, Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell, *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone, Boyz II Men’s Nathan Morris, TLC’s Chilli, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Brandy and Melissa Etheridge, The Notorious B.I.G. and Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. The series will feature exclusive footage provided by MTV as well as interviews with the artists' children.

Chester's son Draven has posted a preview of his interview on Instagram. According to him, the episode is coming to Paramount+ on April 25, 2023. The clip includes proshot footage of Linkin Park's performance at 99X's Big Day Out Freak Show from 2000. Footage of the show was also used on last year's "My Life On MTV" episode about Linkin Park.

  6. Last Friday, indie-folk trio Distant Cousins will released a new holiday single called 'My Eight Favorite Nights.' The song was written by Linkin Park's guitarist Brad Delson and Landon Pigg, a name you might remember from their previous collaboration 'When The Seasons Call.'

Distant Cousins singer Dov Rosenblatt said about the song:

“This song is its own little Hanukkah miracle for us. We were thrilled when Brad, who we’ve been fans of for years, approached us about this collaboration for us to record his beautiful Hanukkah song he co-wrote with Landon. We recorded it the next day and we’re so excited about how it all came together so organically. In a time when light is needed more than ever, we’re honored to be a part of this.”

Amplify Music Magazine reports that the song was featured in a Hallmark Channel film about Hanukkah called “Hanukkah on Rye” that premiered this Sunday, December 18th.

I want to check the credits for the song but I couldn't find them. Wanted to see if that's the same collaborator as for the RFTS and no Boon and Boonn are two different persons.

It's a different Boon. This one is younger. I think he is a solo artist. His name is Edison Boon Eason. The other Boonn (with two "N"s), the one on Running From My Shadow, is part of Grandson's band. His real name is Kevin Hissink.

  8. Back in March we reported that singer/rapper Justus Bennetts had posted a preview of an unreleased song he did with Mike Shinoda called 'Everything Is Nothing'. The full song is now officially available on all digital music platforms. The track was co-written and co-produced by Mike Shinoda with songwriters Pat Linehan and Remy Gautreau. Bennetts said about the song:

"2 years ago i dropped out off community college i had no idea what i wanted to do with my life i bounced around from job to job till i finally lost it i discovered that there's nothing in this world that truly matters more than your own sanity and i bottled up that feeling and put a little bit into this song you're listening too"

A second collaboration between Justus Bennetts and Mike Shinoda titled 'Choosing Violence' has been registered on BMI. The song was written in collaboration with young artist Boon and songwriter Jesse Fink (who also co-wrote Renforshort's 'I Drive Me Mad'). In November 2021, Boon shared a short video from the vocal booth in Mike's studio and Bennetts was seen beside him while the song is played. Watch it here.

Didn’t Mike say that the band and label had to basically be convinced that people would care about HT20? Then they still didn’t make enough box sets and were surprised that the initial batch sold out almost instantly?

If that’s their opinion on Hybrid Theory, I wouldn’t count on a Meteora box set at all. Probably just M20 merch.

Mike himself didn't think the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory was a big deal and had to be convinced by the management / label to do the box set. When they finally did, they all underestimated how many it would sell.

Same thing happened with the remix project, someone from the label came up with the idea but Mike didn't want to do it at first:

This is why I'm not hopeful about a Meteora 20th anniversary edition next year. There seems to be no interest from Linkin Park themselves.

Bad news about this one: according to Cheapshot, it has never been licensed to any project and never released anywhere.

The good news for Styles Of Beyond fans is that a new version of Winnetka Exit has been recorded for the AppleTV+ series Loot with new vocal takes by both Ryu and Tak.
