  1. Saw 'me live in Boston 2013, Mashantucket 2014, Boston 2015 and Clark 2015. All were fun shows. Like I said before, LP is much better and I'm happy he left STP, but I understand his reasoning and I know that it wasn't ''forced''. Only a complete moron would think that, as both STP and Chester have made official statements and LP has been nothing but supportive to Chester the whole time. It's just an ignorant statement to make, IMO.

Well you could say that he forced himself to make a decision.

  2. Why do people even think that they aren't going to renew the contract? Maybe they like it that way.

I'm thinking the same every time this comes up (for the last 8 years or so). Just because the contracts "ends" doesn't mean that they'll leave. They already renewed it in 2004? because they had to renegotiate it. Everyone always acts like they are completely enslaved by their record label, simply because they supposedly denied webcasts etc.? It seems to me that they have lot of freedom in what they do and that they decide a lot of stuff themselves. I guess going independent is never easy for a band, even when they are successful.

I'm not trying to defend WB here but most of the time we have absolutely no idea what happens behind the scenes, how the industry works and how decisions are made. For every "bad decision" or anything bad that happens the label gets the blame, but never does it occur to most of the people that the band makes stupid decisions/denies us this or that.

  3. Why would they announce shows when they are clearly in the studio (right now/soon) ? Also I think it's weird that it's a day after the actual anniversary, I guess doing an announcement on a Sunday is probably the best way. Whatever it is, it's afterwards, they could have easily done something on the actual day and announce that in time.

  4. The main argument against this "May 1999" date is that the band wouldn't have enough time to create it because Chester joined them in March.

If you check the booklet, he isn't credited for "Technique", "Step Up" and "High Voltage".

It's very likely they were prepared, like you said probably recorded parts/demos at home. They were an unsigned band at the time. Studio time is very expensive even with the support from Zomba, so maybe they recorded it in just a few days/weeks. Small artists don't need to wait 3 months to release something like major artists/labels do in order to promote it properly.

We don't have evidence for a May 1999 tour, but I think the mentioned west coast tour in support of this EP seems more likey to me than the May 2000 shows. I highly doubt they played a lot of shows in early 2000 / May 2000 since they were busy with HT at the time. I think in interviews they said it took about 2 months to record but I don't think that includes all the preparation time they invested. Since they mentioned writing stuff like One Step Closer in an apartment. They pretty much went straight on tour promoting the album as soon as they were done with recording.

  5. January 2001 shows:

At 9 o'clock on January the 12th 2001, Linkin Park began their Day Of Press. All of which means: a jet-lagged, homesick, physically exhausted group of five young men are paraded in front of the world's press. 4 songs recorded for a BBC session, MTV and VH1 appearances, handshakes, smiles and 24 hours of the same old questions, ..

This confirms that they did only those 4 known songs for the BBC. Does that mean that they did the BBC session on the press day too?

First things first. Why are you over here? Brad: We played Paris for the first time this week and then London last night. We're only here to do 3 shows, its kind of warm up for march when we come back with the Deftones.

Omar always suspected that they did more on that promo tour but this interview confirms that they spent only 1 week in Europe playing 3 shows, meaning 3 real shows obviously not including the NPA performance.

    Metal-is:
Have you been doing these showcase gigs all round Europe?
    Chester:
This is our last stop. We've only been out for a week, but we did Paris and Hamburg and last night.

    2000:

    QUESTION:
What is the biggest audience you have played in front of?
    Brad:
We played an Atlanta radio festival show with a number of really great huge bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Deftones, Incubus, Papa Roach among others. And the official crowd number at that show was 18,000. There were two stages, so we probably ended up playing for close to 10,000 people, and that was a pretty amazing feeling. The most incredible rush I've gotten onstage, however, actually occurred at Roseland ballroom in NY because there were probably 4,000 people packed into a club and the entire crowd was reacting to our music. Or at least that's how it felt. Someone might have been talking in the back, but onstage it was pretty amazing.

    QUESTION:
What was it like going on tour the The Kottonmouth Kings?
    Mike:
Before the tour we didn't know them very well. We had never met them in person before and it turns out that we all get along extremely well. The entire tour has been a lot of fun. We're currently on tour with a group called Rehab as well. They start the show. After that Dogboy and Gypsy from Cottonmouth play an acoustic set from their Too Rude project, then we play, then Corporate Avenger, then Cottonmouth. Most of these groups have a lot of members, so the tour is just a big party all the time. And the kids get pretty riled up. Some shows are like riots.

I guess it's save to assume that they always played before the Corporate Avenger and KK on this tour.

  6. The real question is though, are the old fans still the majority?

We don't always realize it but there has been a massive shift in fans over the years. I'd call it almost a whole new generation of fans. They've released so many albums now, there are many fans that became fans through ATS or even Living Things etc. that are fans of the current LP and not what they used to be. That's a fact we can't ignore and it's a little selfish to think that the old fans are the true fans, which is complete bullshit.

Can we please keep setlists and LPU CD's out of this discussion for now?

  7. You are right, it would be the logical thing but that doesn't change the fact that they are doing absolutely nothing for their anniversary. At least nothing we know about for now and it's not a live show.

They already did the full HT last year for no specific reason, besides money apparently. It didn't really seem like that they wanted to do it, and there's no info if this contract prevents them to do it again in the near future.

That's not really the problem, I guess what upsets most people is that it seemed like they would do something like that and it turned out they had absolutely nothing planned.

That's at least the second time within 2 years they had a chance do something special and they didn't. The first time being SSMF, which had a really cool and promising promotion idea, with all the Xero stuff and everything, which had the fans really excited. But in terms of the show they didn't deliver.

  8. I still think it's weird they try so hard to suppress all those HT anniversaries. Where they are now and their whole career is based on Hybrid Theory. it defines them. It's not like they didn't want to do it and try to forget about it now. It's not something they were kind of forced to do like Meteora.

I see so many bands celebrating album anniversaries, releasing anniversary editions with bonus tracks and what not, not even the label tries to do something like that, seem completely odd to me.

Even for the 10th anniversary it seemed like they strategically tried to avoid playing a show on that date.

You can tell me that everyone in the band is forgetting about this, they just don't want to for some reason. They even have staff and tons of other business people that should know that this is coming up.

On the other hand though with this event they are not afraid to celebrate MFR, which is at this point almost 11 years old by the way.

  9. This question is more directed to the STP fans that were already into the band before the Chester replaced Scott.

Was Dead & Bloated always one of their "biggest" songs? cause it seems a lot like that now.

Or is it just one of Chester's favorites since that coincidentally is the song he sang with them in 2001?

  10. Pooch (Berlin) and Gabe (Dusseldorf) :) I also have Fan Zone 2 (Dusseldorf) and Rock In Roma wristbands (the one from Roma wasn't really for the concert, it was for a transfer to the city center after the show, there was no special show wristbands) - not sure if you need them

    Sure, send it over.

Any chance you can scan the setlists? The photos are great though!
