Well in later LPU years Mike was starting to attribute demos to album years when they were from the album sessions. We all said immediately when Attached came out it would be 2002, not 2003. Almost absolutely nothing was done in 2003 studio wise. Chester wrapped up vocals in January I believe which was like, late as hell anyway. Every Meteora era song would be 2001 or 2002.

It was actually wrapped up in December of 2002. Literally no studio time in 2003. Astat confirmed it with Sean Paden years back. But yeah, I know what you mean about Mike slapping dates on them from the album they are  from. I mean Basquiat was in no way from 2007, he just said 2007 because it was from the MTM sessions.

    Three main reasons:

    1. Mike started collecting guitars (beyond the ones he typically used on stage up to that point) towards the end of the Meteora cycle. This was when he first acquired a couple Strats, a Telecaster, and a Les Paul. He ended up using Strats for some of the Fort Minor guitar work, and that carried over into some of the early Minutes to Midnight demos (Basquiat, Homecoming, Clarity, Debris, etc.). This happened to coincide with a period where Brad went a few months writing demos on piano and rarely picking up a guitar, so lots of Mike guitar work on demos = lots of Mike's guitar collection used for guitar parts. That sort of established the general tone of a lot of songs that ended up on the album, so they stuck with those kinds of guitars on some of the stuff that made the album too.

    2. Ethan Mates, and to a lesser extent, Rick Rubin's involvement with the band starting with Minutes to Midnight. Ethan is a HUGE vintage guitar collector, and stuff from his collection has been used extensively on all of the LP records he's worked on. The orange Strat Brad started using on The Hunting Party was originally Ethan's, for example. Rick also had a bunch of gear that he either owned or rented at the mansion where they recorded Minutes to Midnight, so it put them in a situation where they didn't really need to bring a lot of their touring gear out of storage at Third Encore to use in the studio. If you look at studio photos from more recent years, you might see one of Brad's red soldier PRS's or one of the Rory Gallagher Strats hanging around, but the majority of the guitars they use on albums aren't actually theirs.

    3. Strats have a much more upper mid-focused tone to them compared to guitars with humbuckers (particularly more modern-voiced stuff like PRS's). By the time the band got to A Thousand Suns, they were using a LOT more sub bass/808/low end synth-type stuff than they used on their earlier material. With so much more going on in the low end, it made sense to use guitars that naturally occupied a different frequency range.

Epic post here. Learned stuff I didn't know, too.

  3. Man he has to put out another solo album! Seems like LP isn’t ready yet and another Mike album would be epic, and a tour too, once we are done with this virus. Idk why more people don’t want it. Everyone just says LP. Yeah, would be fucking awesome, but Mike said he’ll let us know when and if they are ready again and if they aren’t ready they shouldn’t be rushed the way they are, it’s wrong.

  4. Mike did most of the guitar work and stuff like that on THP and OML (except for some of the solos on THP, but he wrote them) so it makes sense. The guitars on LT and ATS I think he may have done too but the guitar on those albums mostly just kind of was a background for the songs since they were more electronic driven.

    1. Quite a bit of PT material is better than OML or THP LP.
    2. Makes no sense at all for LP's brand/image/appearance to release an LPU CD right now, as has been explained 100 times in this forum in the past year.

I actually hate THP and OML and their respective eras and agree that PT is way better. I know it’s not what was said by you but I do think PT is leagues above. And so wasn’t the era and tour of PT.

Also agree that there is no reason for a LPU CD right now. Maybe a boxset with a live show and some demos of anything. But agreed.

I just got my CD. There is a sticker that says it includes a $3-off coupon, but I can't find it. Anyone know anything?

Damn took that long? Had mine for like a month or more, but then again I’m from the U.S. Anyways, seems like there is actually no promo code and nothing else has ever been said on it. So I guess we just don’t get 3 dollars off like it said. Haha. Promotion is a joke for this remix album and always has been.

  7. Pretty awesome. Hope he puts out a new MS album and this song is on it in a more complete form or maybe as a bonus track. Then he can tour! (Once the US and elsewhere is over the cold thing).

    Not better than Sickness/WITE

    Very forgettable.

So you’re comparing this to songs from the 90’s? I mean I could also argue ‘’not better than Crawling off of HT’’ then for example. Cuz those aren’t new songs, hate to tell ya. They are songs released even before HT was in the 90’s. They just remixed and remastered them but all the vocals are from over 20 years ago.

    That's a pretty hot take.

Went to Silversun Pickups two nights ago in Asheville and last night in Atlanta. Great shows.

Are you aware of the global pandemic currently going on? Have you read any of the news on it? Even in our own country, people are being encouraged to stay home. Disney is closing it’s parks. Basically all sports events are canceled. Tons and tons of bands and artists are canceling their touring. Even late night talk shows are going dark. In a few weeks here, you’ll see why. I also hope you aren’t around anyone that is past the age of 60 or who has underlying health conditions.

I'd love to listen to the unreleased tracks, But I'd also feel bad if we all pestered them for it! 😅 Even if we did ask, we'd still have to wait until they are comfortable releasing them (That is, if they are even able to release them). Suppose I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best!

It's don't hurt to ask. Why not? I want the original 14 song DBS album. Many do and would love it if it were to be announced, trust me. Only the old-school hardcore fans, though, because no one knows about it except them.

That's whats up. when you brought the album did you listen to it completely or skip a few song's

I listened to it completely. Back then I had a portable CD player and I would just listen to the full thing on repeat. I remember enjoying A Place For My Head the most but I loved all of the songs.

  11. Hybrid Theory B-Sides could be:

    Carousel

    Technique

    Step Up

    And One

    High Voltage (2000 Reprise)

    Part Of Me

    Dedicated

    She Couldn’t

    Slip

Blue (Even though part of it became Crawing)

    So Far Away

My December (Even though it was recorded after the album was done)

For Meteora I will say the only B-Side that we have is A.06 from LPU2.

i got into them in 2000 but didnt buy the album untill the summer of 2001 so no merch from me nethier

Same for me! My older cousin first introduced me to their music when I was 13 (2000). But I didn't end up buying the album until around the 4th of July in 2001. I don't know the exact date but it was around then because I remember listening to my copy of the CD at my sister's birthday party (she was born on July 6th).
