I remember it being discussed a while back that there may be some live footage Marc Ostrick shot around the same time he filmed the Lockout rehearsal.

Mike Shinoda confirmed he has Xero live footage in some capacity, but doesn't want to release it.

You think it has to do with Marks reluctance towards having more limelight.

Has there been any new information on the Marc Ostrick footage over the last few years? I presumed the guy would have upped the price once again with all the HT20 hype

I remember asking a few years back and he wanted something like 10k but that was before Chester passes now he wants somewhere in the ball park of 50k, which I think is bullshit.

There was a full video of the song on YouTube back in 2006. I think I still have it somewhere (downloaded from YouTube). The quality was pretty bad though.

Guys, leave him alone. Plenty of people here have already contacted him. lol

    1. First of all, Warner told him to take down Pictureboard from his SoundCloud page. He would be the stupidest person ever if he started sharing other unreleased Linkin Park material online after this.

    2. Deftest was an early cassette demo created by Mike and Mark. They didn't even had a band at that point. Xero was literally only Mike and Mark. It's very unlikely for anyone but them to have this song.

    3. Andrew auditioned for Xero when Phoenix left. That was it. The only reason he has Pictureboard is because it was in Xero's audition tape. It's likely the exact same tape they sent to vocalists. We've heard straight from the band Pictureboard was there.

Do you happen to know what songs were on the audition tapes?

Maybe Deftest will just surface one day. Never say never and all that.

Maybe I'll hit up Andrew Lanoie if he has it, also he's got some pretty good financial advice on his podcasts

i guess i'm in the minority who love everything/anything from Xero era. the raw sound and Mike's creative ideas making music at young age, always interesting to me.

Same here, I always loved the raw and unpolished sound of Mike and Mark

What? Did you not see that LP is releasing a HT20 release? Keep your Shinodabucks, the answer is in the HT thread already.

Shucks, well I guess I'm out 400 Shinodabucks, but the question was more towards Wakefield

He basically said we are getting more demos

I spent all my ShinodaBucks to ask him about the Xero Demos and if he plans to release more Xero content, i just hope it answers it soon

Exactly that. A one-off Hybrid Theory Anniversary show with a variety of singers.

Obviously it's awesome that they are working on new stuff, but I think I would rather have a special Hybrid Theory show with guests over nothing at all, especially since the band might not have settled on exactly what the future looks like singer-wise yet.

I asked Mike about the chance of a Xero reunion during one of his life streams and he said no.

  8. Well, it's Mike and Joe. "Kenji & Artofficial of Xero" (as listed on the tracklist) to be exact, so it isn't even a collaboration with an outside artist.

Closing is pretty much Mike and Joe's work too. It even starts with "Kenji and DJ Artofficial representing Xero."

And most of the tracks on the Xero tape were done by Mark and Mike.

The collaborations with other artists credited to Linkin Park were pretty much done with Mike and Chester only (Darker Than Blood, Things In My Jeep) with the exception being We Made It, which had a contribution by Brad.

It's Goin' Down also features two Linkin Park members and was played at Linkin Park shows.

So I don't really see a problem with songs featuring at least two members being labeled "Linkin Park songs." That's what we use to define something as a Linkin Park show in the live guide too.

so is closing a xero track or not?

  9.

The guy who worked there and used to sell tapes from that era passed away and the club doesn't have a footage of any Xero show.

I heard that the Whiskey has recordings of many shows from over the years that they are putting online, I wonder if they have some shows Of Xero.

  10. I was reading the Linkinpedia and stumbled across a show on the date of 2/24/00 and say the setlist was made of some older songs like Rhinestone, slip, and Esaul (My Favorite), and that's all they know since the owner of the tapes Marc Ostrick wants 10k for the tape.

So I'm wondering if some can open a go fund me or something to raise the money to get the full tape and see if there's and unheard demos, like picturboard, etc.

Filmed by Marc Ostrick for his "Lockout" documentary series that was first uploaded to YouTube in 2006 (
    ,
). For the full raw footage, over $10,000 is wanted.

in the video, mike mentions that phoenix is playing a song from '97, he says. then chester says he remembers singing on the song and it was one of the demos that they have finished . but my question is this . on wikipedia or someplace, i read that chester had joined the band in 1999 . obviously i know that they had a different singer named mark, but how can chester remember the song and supposedly had sang to it if he didnt join the band until 2 years later ?

    who knows, could be Picturboard?
