lpliveusername
Today's Recording Of The Week is a pretty special and unique show. In 2013, Chester Bennington was presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award by his Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation. The ceremony happened during the 9th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert which took place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California on May 06, 2011 with an all-star line-up that included Ida Maria, Beastie Boys DJ Mix Master Mike, Tony Alva's Chicken Noodle Project and Stone Temple Pilots. This was only the 3rd show that Stone Temple Pilots played with Chester as their official frontman and the 3rd time Chester performed at the event, having previously played with Camp Freddy in 2008 and as a solo artist in 2011. The short 6-song setlist featured the group's most recent single (and first song released with Chester) 'Out Of Time' in addition to Stone Temple Pilots classics 'Wicked Garden', 'Big Bang Baby', 'Vasoline' and 'Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart'. To end of the show, the band was joined by Guns N' Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan to cover the David Bowie-written Mott The Hoople hit single 'All The Young Dudes'. This was the only time the song was ever played by Stone Temple Pilots. We're bringing you two different video recordings of the show. The first one is the full show, but unfortunately, the person who authored the DVD didn't know what they were doing and the result is a quite compressed video. The DVD also includes a show from 2002 with Scott Weiland on vocals which should be a treat for old school Stone Temple Pilots fans. The show took place at Lummus Park in Miami, Florida on October 7, 2002. BelowEmpty show page here. To make up for the quality of the first source, we are posting a second source which contains 3 songs in HD: 'Wicked Garden', 'Vasoline' and 'All The Young Dudes'. Big thanks to Ted Weitzman for recording those 3 songs and sharing the original files right before deleting them. Watch the videos in his channel. leftshoe18
I'm always a little bummed there wasn't more STP with Chester. High Rise was really cool and I would have loved a full album with that lineup.
