lpliveusername
We're starting the year by fulfilling a request from a community member. Today's Recording Of The Week is the Rock Im Park 2001 night show audio. This show was actually part of the June 1st line-up, but because of the time it started, we have it listed as June 2nd. Linkin Park had performed earlier in the day at the festival's Centerstage, opening for Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit. Slipknot was supposed to close the Alternastage line-up as a "late night special," starting at 1am, but after playing a show in Bremen the night before, the band dissappeared and Linkin Park was tasked with filling their spot. The band was reportedly nervous about playing for Slipknot fans and decided to move their heavier songs up in the setlist to cater for Slipknot fans. Chester came out on stage with a paper mask covering his face, a stunt that was initially received with heavy booing. Mike and Chester said they were also bummed that Slipknot wasn't there and Mike declared he listened to Slipknot too. By the end of the show, the band had won over the crowd. This is one of 4 known shows where Linkin Park played the 'MELLOW Interlude', a short instrumental jam which consisted of the verse instrumental from 'Pictureboard'. However, in this show Chester actually sang the lyrics over the instrumental! This is the only known time he did that. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst came out at three different points during the set and can be heard repeating a few of Chester's lines on 'Crawling'. Brad's guitar stopped working in the middle of 'One Step Closer' and Fred can be heard saying "Fuck the guitar, let's do this shit!" right before the bridge. The mp3 of this show was very popular and widely spread among fans up to the early 2010s, but from what we've heard, a download has become hard to find. What we are posting today is the lossless version, which wasn't that common. Enjoy and happy new year to everyone! vinifeijo
What about those different lyrics on OSC chorus, never heard it before. Was Chester improvising?

xxHybridXeroxx
This is one of my favorite LP Shows, because of the story behind it, the funny banter, the Pictureboard performance, and Fred Durst appearances. Listening back to it now, band definitely dials it up to 11. To fill in for Slipknot, let alone win their fans over I was told is no easy task. LP is a killer live act and this show proves it.
