LPU 18 Wishlist

You say some real dumb shit.

How is it dumb? What's the point of creating a LPU18 thread about music when we didn't even get music for LPU17? If Mike is still uncomfortable with listening through old demos, he likely won't be ready for November. And he would have to pick them, master them and get them ready by like September/October if he were to.

We all expect hyped up songs to be released every year, but I said in the LPU16 discussion, with Chester passing away it's likely that we'll get this year's LPU or the next one all Chester's demos or unreleased songs sang mainly by him. If it was up to me I would rather have vocal demos over instrumentals.

Don't get your hopes up. 1000's of demos in the vault and we always get the shit at the bottom of the barrel. Never any of the cool stuff show in Making Of's, LPTV, talked about in interviews, etc. Look at the version of Fear that we got on LPU9 compared to the much cooler one shown in Making of MTM for example. I can't complain too much since they could have just never gave us any demos at all. But I feel like if they are gonna give us some, why not give us the cool ones that are constantly being asked for (not Pictureboard, since we know why they can't put that one out).

I'd be open to them stepping away from demos for a bit. What if it was a compilation of interesting live performances over the years, as a dedication to Chester? My list is probably gonna suck, but other members here could probably come up with some better live performances that stick out, this is LPLive after all.

Some of these are already available in one way or another, and for all I know, some of them may not have actual recordings, but this is all hypothetical anyways, so here we go:

1. Something from the very first show the band played

2. Morning After (Acoustic) - Dead by Sunrise

3. Numb/Encore/Yesterday - Linkin Park, Jay-Z, & Paul McCartney

4. Enth E Nd - Fort Minor (featuring Chester)

5. Where'd You Go - Fort Minor (featuring Chester)

6. Numb (Guitar Intro) - Linkin Park

7. Rolling in the Deep (Adele Cover) - Linkin Park

8. Let Down (Acoustic) - Dead by Sunrise

9. Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue (featuring Chester)

10. One More Light (including Chester's speech) - Linkin Park

And if it truly was played live at some point...

Hidden Bonus Track: Pictureboard (Live)

Just for fun, maybe something from the show they played in Milwaukee in 2015, too. It's the only show I've been to that they didn't release a recording of

What's the point of getting a bunch of live performances that we already have? And some of those aren't even Linkin Park so we might not even be able to get those. I'd be open to 10 live tracks featuring Chester that are exceptional from all touring years. But idk if they would do that. They ignored the DSP petition like three different times. Maybe they would, who knows. They have a lot of good shows in the vault, look at all the tracks on singles and stuff. Summer Sonic 2006, PR04, PR02, RAR14 and many more. That last OML should def be one of them. I was shocked when they never released his final show to fans. I still can't believe they didn't do that. Such a special show and they have it recorded obviously since they've released a track from the show on OML live and also the Chester speech from Hollywood Bowl.

I guess I accidentally removed my explanation for having songs we already have while rewording some of the post. I'd just be nice to have some of them physically in CD quality. I still wish they would have put Not Alone and Blackbirds on some single or something as a B-side.

As for the songs that aren't theirs, we got Hunger Strike on Songs from the Underground, so while it may not happen, it's not unprecedented. Like I said, it's hypothetical so logic doesn't really need to apply. In a perfect world, we would just have most of these because of the DSP petition

You have a few good points. Some of your list would be cool to own on physical CD, and you are also right in the fact that it's possible we could get other performances like Hunger Strike. I have been kind of sick of demos for a while now. I used to love the live shit we would get on early LPU albums because of the exceptional quality and often times we didn't have a HQ version of the stuff.

I would like a demo of every song of the main albums for LPU18. Normal tracklistings for the albums, no bonus tracks, as the album was intended. But in DEMO FORM. Would be sweet. For example, look how much better the Good Goodbye demo is over the shitty album version with Stormzy. Or look at how much better The Catalyst demo is. And stuff like BIO demo or ITE demo are cool. I want all the albums in demos.

Demos are great. I'd love them too someday.

I think LPU 18 is too early again for LP to dig into the vaults. They haven't even reconvened as a band yet since just after the Bowl show when they started jamming music / working on new stuff.
