The Hunting Party European Tour has reached its final destination… London!

Hi everyone! I’ll be doing your preshow post today, it’s nice to be back! Tonight will be Linkin Park’s 5th time at the London O2 Arena (previously Millennium Dome), and tomorrow will be their 6th. What’s interesting is that this is the third time Linkin Park have announced a show at the venue, and had to add a second date due to high demand.

What’s also interesting is that the O2 Arena ALWAYS brings some surprises! On 2008.01.28, whilst putting on a solid show that opened with the well-received curtain drop over ‘What I’ve Done (AMBO intro)’, Mike pulled a surprise and did a short and quick cover of ‘Umbrella’ by Rihanna on his piano. The set ended with a double encore, the second encore sporting without a doubt the most anticipated Linkin Park song ever, ‘A Place For My Head’, and finishing up with ‘One Step Closer.’ One night later, the band decided to do a last minute change on their setlist, voting out ‘What I’ve Done’ and ‘Pushing Me Away (Piano Version)’, and replacing them with ‘In Between’ and ‘What I’ve Done w/AMBO’ respectively. These two shows closed the entire Europe tour, which has become a recurring event upon every visit to this venue.

Two and a half years later, the band returned on the 10th and 11th of November (just over 4 years ago, wow!), of which the latter was a day to remember. Not only was it the first EVER LPU Summit, it was also the debut of ‘Leave Out All The Rest’ acoustic at the summit, first ever ‘The Messenger’ acoustic performance of just 2 band members, and the debut of a completely new setlist. The tour had been running on just one setlist throughout, the only real difference being what song being performance during the bridge for ‘Bleed It Out’ (‘A Place For My Head’ vs ‘Burning In The Skies’… what would you choose?!), so it was nice to see a new setlist, and fresh songs for the tour such as ‘From The Inside’ and ‘Leave Out All The Rest’. ‘Points of Authority’ was also scheduled to make a comeback at this show, but was dropped for some unknown reason. Before the encore, Mike Shinoda invited 2 fans from the LPU Summit to come and play Mike’s & Brad’s guitars for ‘Faint.’ Whilst I am super jealous of them personally, it was amazing to see a friend of mine jamming with the world’s biggest band!

Linkin Park skipped UK for the entirety of the LIVING THINGS tour, and only returned to the country in June for Download Festival, where they performed the almighty Hybrid Theory in full, front to back, for the first time ever! But London has always been a great crowd to the band, and I can guarantee they are gonna be just as rowdy as you’d hope!

Last night, Aaron Pauley, the bassist for the support band of the tour, Of Mice And Men, joined the band during the Ballad Medley, reportedly during ‘Iridescent’, lending some of his vocal talents. We will have a video and more information for you as soon as we can, so stay tuned!!

So what is going to happen tonight and tomorrow night? Are Linkin Park going to carry on with tradition and surprise us all with something fresh for this tour at all? Will they revive the fan favourite ‘A Place For My Head’? Will Mike jam ‘High Voltage’ into his solo, or ‘Reading My Eyes’ over ‘Bleed It Out’? Your guess is as good as mine! All I can promise is that it’s going to be a show you are NOT going to want to miss! Don’t forget to check us on Twitter for your setlist updates, and we hope you enjoy the show! Let us know if you’re going!

Enjoy this old gem from 2001, which made it onto the LP Underground 2.0 CD!

Not yet but I am sure they'll be coming soon. Lmao I remember when it took days to get videos, like 2007-ish, of cool stuff from shows. And the quality sucked.

Remember the 19 second QWERTY video from squalljapan on YouTube? That shit was so common (the small, lower quality videos) that I added them to my iPod in 2006 when I was 15 years old, HA. Right around when LPLive was getting going. Literally had all of these in tiny mp3s on there in a playlist called "new LP":

"MY PEOPLE ON THIS SIDE"

The audio recordings didn't come until later...I think Sendai was out a few weeks later or something, I don't recall exactly. Osaka took a while and Tokyo took, what, like many months? 2007?

I don't know who is still around from those times, but those Japan 2006 shows were the first shows I ever "covered" live on this website (when it was .txt files). /oldguy /endrant

But for real, I remember when videos from shows were 19 seconds long like this...these were the first ones to ever come out ASAP after a show as fan recorded videos almost NEVER existed for LP before this (on phones, or cameras, unless someone was filming a DVD). There are just two from Projekt Revolution 2004 (Don't Stay in Wantagh and OSC from VA Beach), and I think a 30 second one from Rock am Ring of With You.

THESE days I make the show post, go to bed, wake up 6 hours after the show and the whole motherfucker is uploaded in HD quality for the entire world to see. Jesus - really hard to believe that, haha. I still remember when we had SHOWS go by (3-4 shows) before we'd get a setlist from a previous show, especially with Asia 2007.

Thanks everyone haha, you're all correct!

I'll be at the show tonight and tomorrow. If you wanna come say hi, I'll be the guy with short brown hair, beard, possibly grey jeans and black&white hitops.

Here's a pic of my mug if anyone wants to come say hi!

I won M&G for both of the London dates but I had to sell my tickets last month because I needed the extra cash at the time. And I didn't have time to reschedule, travel down, and buy new ones because I recently moved jobs. To say I'm gutted is an understatement!

Ah that sucks. You'll get to see them again. Not a whole lot of exciting stuff in this show right now anyway. Did you tell the LPU you couldn't make it?

LP was planning to play the UK. They didn't skip it on purpose. There were arena shows booked for fall 2012. London, Manchester, Birmingham, etc. Then they canceled the tour just before it was announced.

I did yeah. I had to regretfully 'return' them.

During OMM set the sound was awesome then on LP they turned it up a notch or two what sucked at times. On GATS Chester screwed up with the tempo (slower) On Blackout they had some problems with the samples and weird shit coming in here and there (cracks). Mike's keyboard screwed up, Hahn's samples too (or he was surprised about wtf is going on and stopped pressing them)

SETLIST B

Stefano had "have no fuckin idea who the fuck I just shake hands with" face at the MFR table on the first floor. Really? Guess Lego took its toll hahah Canal Guy was too busy chatting in the EE line on the first floor :P Also just so some people know aka the fat guy in 1st row 416 block: a concert is an event you have a good time on, not a fuckin pub or diner, if you want to get wasted like you did go to a DyingDuck Pub, if you want to eat shitload of stuff go to KFC. Same thing applies for your 3 friends, one of them being a chick who was standing 40% of the show, just on her stupid cellphone, taking stupid selfies and just not paying attention. One of you did check lplive for setlist so you should know exactly who you are. Pub brits from block 416 :)

You saw someone on LPLive at the show? LOL

Reminds me of the time I ran into a random guy front row of seats at Tampa 2008 during the 2nd encore break. I said "Bleed It Out is next" and he said "I know, I saw the setlist on LPLive". I said WTF that's my site!

aaaaaand it turned out to be the first time I met Sanjay :P
