01. Pictureboard (Xero/Hybrid Theory)

We all know the story. Xero song re-recorded with Chester and played live only once with him. Originally in the LPU 9.0 CD but had to be removed due to samples used in the song. Mike said it probably won't ever be released, but I'll keep it in my list anyway.

02. Dust Brothers song featuring Linkin Park (2001)

Back when the band was looking for a producer for their debut album they met the Dust Brothers with whom they collaborated on "With You". Another demo came from the same sessions and the band announced in 2001 that they were in the process of finishing it for release on a Dust Brothers album. Unfortunately the album (and consequently the song) never came out. I'm not sure if releasing this would be easy for the band though, since the song was meant for another artist's album (but they did release "Standing In The Middle" on LPU 4.0).

03. My December (Remixed by DJ Crook of Team Sleep) (Reanimation)

One of the many remixes that didn't it on Reanimation. Probably the most famous. It was created by DJ Crook of Team Sleep, and DJ Shadow is rumored to have contributed with scratches to the remix. When DJ Crook was questioned about the possibility of the remix being released someday he said "probably never", so we can only count with the band to release it.

04. Sick ("Don't Stay" Demo) (Meteora)

Mike said the song started with a Spanish/reggae guitar and went through a lot of variations before Brad came up with the one on the album. I would like to hear that original version.

05. "Thoughts That Take Away My Pride" (Meteora)

This is probably the most requested song after "Pictureboard" and no one even knows its name. It's that song we've all heard the vocals on the Meteora DVD and seen the lyrics on the Frat Party At The Pankake Festival DVD. Mike did say he completely erased from his computer a lot of demos the band didn't like during the Meteora sessions, but this wasn't the case with this song. We've heard an instrumental portion of it during a 2007 LPTV episode. If they do release it someday, it will be the first Meteora outtake with vocals we get.

06. Machine Shop mixtape song (2005)

A lot of conflicting information about this demo over the years. It's a song the band recorded (or tried to record) for the second volume of the Machine Shop Mixtape which never came out.

07. Fire In The City (Minutes To Midnight)

The demo from which "Given Up" was originated, just like "Blue" with "Crawling". Mike mentioned the song had vocals and said he was the only person in the band who liked it. The bassline and the drums were reused on "Given Up".

08. Chicken Basket (A Thousand Suns)

Mike posted about this song in his blog back in October 2009 when they recorded it. He described the music as "Santigold meets Postal Service meets At The Drive In" and said the vocals sounds like "Peter Gabriel and Huey Lewis". The band mentioned it by name a few other times before the release of A Thousand Suns, usually when talking about how ridiculous their working titles were. Samples of the song were included in the first Linkin Park bundle for Stagelight, so we can have an idea of what it sounds like (sounds pretty good to me).

09. Tinfoil (Powerless - Original Longform Demo) (A Thousand Suns/Living Things)

"Powerless", just like "I'll Be Gone" (and "Lies Greed Misery" according to the LPU 16 tracklist), was started during the A Thousand Suns sessions and finished during the Living Things sessions (it was the last song they finished for the album). Like "Primo" (which I love), the song was originally 6 minute long.

10. Skin To Bone (Demo) (Living Things)

"Skin To Bone" started as what the band described as a "hippie folk song". I imagine it must have started as an acoustic piece just like "Warm Spell" ("Devil's Drop") and "Three Band Terror" (ending of "Until It Breaks"). I like the album version, but I would love to have an "acoustic version" of it.

I hope we get something special, like acoustic versions of greatest hits,10 demos started to be really boring, since we are getting instrumental or re-released shit. I understand why they don't want give us demos with vocals e.g from ATS era, its like with "A Line In The Sand" (ATS demo used for future release).

Another thing I also miss are free LPU downloadable bonuses, like "Lockjaw" or Morning After (live). Or some kind of interactive games like Iridescent cards and free download of Moscow show, I really think there is lack of activity by the LPU leadership. Why they don't starts a poll for example about choosing one or two live shows per month and offer them to LPU members for download +- for 9,99$?

I agree. Demos are cool, it's just that they don't give us GOOD demos, IMO. We know they have so much epic stuff in the vault in terms of demos but they won't released a large portion of it, it seems. And it's not just songs that they might potentially use again, even demos of songs that made the albums would be cool to hear, like I have been saying, it's just that they don't give us the truly cool ones.

Has nobody thought of sending this wishlist to Mike via twitter? We should be a pain in the ass. Sending the same wishlist over and over again until Mike realizes about it. Perhaps we don't have all, but at least one or two would be enough.

Surprised no one has ever done it. Mike might not even know what demos the fanbase desperately wants out there.

Spamming the band/management isn't a good idea. That's why I gave up on the DSP thing. I did an open letter then a Change.org petition. They know we want it, but nothing else on my end will get them to change their mind, so I dropped it.

It's fine for us to, sure, make an LPU wish list and tweet it once at them. That would work. But not sending them the same thing over and over.

As well as not shoving it down their throats, timing is key. If we tweeted this at them now, it's probably unlikely they'll look back at it a year from now. If we tweet a thread at them in September/October of next year, maybe there's a better shot.

Maybe for LPU 17 we can compile a news post around that time of year and make a thread of "most requested LPU tracks" and tweet that to the band, maybe 10-15 tracks that keep appearing in this thread until then.

I was exaggerating a little bit. But sometimes with certain kind of people works better being annoying.

You're completely right. The only problem is we don't know when mike compiles or decides the tracklist. Your idea is fantastic , though. I'm sure that It'll work out , one way or another.

I've got something planned already, just waiting for LP7 to be released.

I would be down for some acoustic versions of already existing songs. Most of the demos released lately are just small pieces of instrumentals, which didn't get very far in composition. I'd rather have acoustic versions of their songs, or maybe studio versions of the extended songs that they play live (like faint with the extended outro, which has been a staple since 2007).

Some of the LPU releases have gems in them, but they are few and far between.
