LOL! That's not why they moved on. LP doesn't give a flying fuck about sales. Do you not pay attention to any interviews? Right, they're going to be brutally honest about sales. Of course they're not going to say they accommodated to the general masses to sell more records. I understand your passion for the band-I once had that passion too. I'm just being honest here, lots of old LP fans believe they sold out with ATS. I too, hold that belief. |

Whatever man, be a blind fanboy. ATS was selling out in my opinion. They created music that is currently popular to sell. Rock/Hip hop doesn't sell as much so they moved on. Prove me wrong. I agree with you man, this album is just for pure marketing, more obvious can't be, the band has sellout. but the fanboys always refuse that, they don't have the slightest idea that marketing is the worst thing you can do to your music. they're going to understand until you listen to more underground music like Stratovarius, Cannibal Corpse, Angra, Iron Maiden, Haggard, Slayer, Kraner, Judas Priest, Deep Purple and more. maybe they realize that commercial music is the worst, you have to make music for music, not for corporate who are just looking to be famous and to do something that does not fit. I'm just being honest here, lots of old LP fans believe they sold out with ATS. I too, hold that belief. That doesn't make it true. Pay attention to Mike Shinoda's personal blog, the guy is all about experimenting with music, and he just DOES NOT LIKE nu-metal anymore. Period. If he doesn't want to listen to it, why the hell do you think he would want to create it? It's not a money thing, it's their taste in music. It changed, deal with it. The music isn't what you like, the band has sold out. The band says something in an interview, you assume they're lying. Are you psychic or something? Because you seem to be able to know the band's thoughts better than the band members do. Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Judas Priest Right...Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Judas Priest are all "underground" and have never done anything to market their music. Wow. maybe they realize that commercial music is the worst, you have to make music for music, not for corporate who are just looking to be famous and to do something that does not fit. YES. Yes you do! An artist has to make music for himself, so that it can be artistic. So, for instance, when you have a bunch of fans crying and whining about how your band doesn't make nu-metal anymore, but you do not feel inspired as an artist to make nu-metal music, you should NOT LISTEN TO THE FANS and just make the music that you want to make, instead of pandering to your audience just so that they will like you. I agree with you! This post has been edited by Xero21: Sep 15 2011, 07:04 PM -------------------- the proud new admin at fuckyeahlinkinpark.tumblr.com follow us!

Haha have you even listened to ATS? So you're saying they were trying to appeal to what's popular at the moment? That's why they put in The Radiance, Wisdom, Justice and Love, and Fallout right? Even songs like When They Come For Me, Blackout...they're the most radio friendly song in the world right? But Numb was hardcore right and not appealing to radio just because it had heavier guitars in? Hell, how hasn't Empty Spaces gone platinum yet? |

Let's maintain a level of civility in our discourse, please.
Thread turned into personal insults and semantics. Everyone should re-read Mike's commentary on the issue first before making assumptions: http://mikeshinoda.com/2010/09/27/haters-a...-album-release/ -------------------- 2008.07.23 Project Revolution - 2010.09.14 A Thousand Suns - 2012.08.17 Honda Civic Tour + LPU Summit Alright, enough of the senseless name calling and mindless damn bickering. you're pretending like you're a band or something. It's kind of cute actually. Everyone shut up, Adam is posting. |

they're going to understand until you listen to more underground music like Stratovarius, Cannibal Corpse, Angra, Iron Maiden, Haggard, Slayer, Kraner, Judas Priest, Deep Purple and more. All of those bands are not underground :3 Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Slayer were some of the forerunners of Metal....they have a bigger fanbase in one instrument than LP has.....that is not underground. Deep Purple was also incredibly influential to Rock music.....they aren't underground QUOTE maybe they realize that commercial music is the worst, you have to make music for music, not for corporate who are just looking to be famous and to do something that does not fit. didn't I say this a while ago saying that the album wasn't commercial.....they have a song basically saying Fuck you we are making what we want....how in the hell is that selling out?!? IF they wanted to make music that would commercially sell they would make music like what you hear on top 40.....and they would BE on the top 40. But they ARE NOT.....meaning that their music ISN'T popular.....do some research. they dont need to try to be famous....they ALREADY ARE! thats what their first two albums did really. It put them in the position where they could reach even higher....but they choose the honorable way and made the music that they wanted to make...... honestly LP fans are some of the bitchiest people in the world..... -------------------- |

If LP are sell outs they would of continued making albums which sounded like HT and not bothered experimenting with different sounds.

Linkin Park became sellouts as soon as Minutes to Midnight came out.
And i agree with spraypaintninkpens for some point but not at all. For MTM they writing guaranteed radio hit songs. Pop is 1000 times more popular than Rock and Hip Hop. It's purely marketing. They just wanted to touch the masses for popularity. Or for ATS it's different, Except Iridescent, there is no radio hit in this album. That's why i Prefer it. Of course nothing and nobody can take away the old stuff from us. HT EP > HT > Meteora > ATS > MTM And please people don't call LP Nu-Metal. LP is LP. There are alot of nuances in the album that most kids wouldnt get.....hell I just realized them in the past month.. The album has a deepness to the lyrics and instrumentation that not many bands can actually accomplish. ...I think you just summed up why a lot of people don't like ATS, maybe it just comes down to that they simply don't get it. It went over their heads. People don't like things that confuse them. They also don't like change. I'm not even gonna TOUCH the "sell-out" thing. That's just pure bull and everyone who knows what the term means knows that, and everyone else is never going to listen. That outta the way, my opinion of ATS actually hasn't changed much in the past year. It tied (w/Reanimation) for my favorite album and stayed there. Actually, what it did was change my perception of MTM. MTM went on a bit of a roller coaster ride for me. At first I didn't care for it, then it quickly grew on me, then it faded, then ATS came out and shoved MTM to the back. I think MTM pales in comparison to ATS. Not to be taken that I don't like MTM, I just don't listen to it as often. For me it's now: ATS=Reanimation>HT>Meteora=MTM. My favs from ATS are probably Iridescent and Wretches & Kings. I gotta say, this was a fun thread to read. -------------------- "The sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming the moon's gonna owe it one." ![]() |

Some of you say how ATS is the most radio friendly thing around and some of you say it's not radio at all. If you think LP is selling out, at least agree lol.
For MTM they writing guaranteed radio hit songs. Pop is 1000 times more popular than Rock and Hip Hop. It's purely marketing. They just wanted to touch the masses for popularity. Yeah, so that's why everything charted well? What the hell even charted from MTM? WID, BIO and SOTD. LOATR and GU did nothing. WID and BIO are rock and rap-rock. SOTD is pop-ish. Your argument doesn't add up. Sorry. -------------------- QUOTE Victim of the 2011 Atlanta plot twist! Whatever, they doing music from their heart, not because of money, they trying new things. For me ATS is the best album, behind MTM. So: MTM>ATS>HT>MT. But everyone got their own taste, but who said that LP is selling out, they don't know nothing about LP! Long Life Linkin Park!

I liked A Thousand Suns, but I liked M2M better. If they'd combined elements of ATS and M2M in the next album, it would be AWESOME!

What do you think about "A Thousand Suns" one year later? Does it still have the same effect when you listen to it now versus when you first heard it? What are your top songs from the album? And how does this album compare to the previous albums by Linkin Park for you? And finally, will 'Robot Boy' ever see the light of day on a stage? Discuss! I feel pretty much the same as I did with it a year ago. I like that they went beyond their comfort zone to deliver a new work. I like the experimentation with sounds in some places. It still reminds me so much of the musical project Enigma (yeah, the same one with "Sadeness," "Return to Innocence," "Age of Loneliness"). My favorite tracks remain "The Messenger" (lots of stuff happened to me in the last year or so), especially the live version, "When They Come For Me," and "Waiting for the End." It's good...I listen to it a lot, but it's not my favorite one by them ("Meteora"). They're growing and changing their style, and as long as I'm not "Good Lord, what the hell is this crap?" on consecutive albums, I'll still check them out whenever something new comes along. -------------------- QUOTE (LPU90 @ Sep 18 2011, 02:22 PM) you are an ugly, fat, motherfucking boy!!!! never to rest UFMB!!!
