Quick question? Ask here!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

this is something we have been noticing over the last few weeks:

A lot of you had a quick question about a special show or the equipment the band uses and opened a new thread in hope of a quick response. Unfortunately, the "Live Discussions" and "General LP Discussion" - sections became a mess full of dead threads with only three replies.

This is why we decided to create this thread. If you have a quick qestion that doesn't deserve its own thread, feel free to post it here so that other users can answer it as soon as possible. That way, the sections stay clear and the real important topics are still on top.

Thank you very much for your appreciation :)

-Nico

Quick Question : There used to be more themes in LPL as far as I remember. Why have been they removed?

When the site went down the HDD crashed. The guys were able to recover about 90% (or less) of what was left of the site. Everything else (like show pages) had to be re added. Some skins were lost (Like MTM) but its nothing major compared to show pages etc.

Correct me if Im wrong.

1999 HTEP....how many do exist? maybe with source?

+

Another One :

Didn't LPL win an interview with Mike. WTH happened to it?

No-one knows would be the best answer to give to these questions.

oh yeah...want to know that too!

I read several times over the forums that only a 1000 were produced, and one for sure I've seen broken.

I read that everywhere but no one can give me a source...hmm..

There are 998 left. Many many would just laying around or some disappeared as they were given to record labels.

They go for $500-$900. Usually on the high end of that lately.

I can't give a source for the 1000 made, but it's just a general thing.

Did Brad bring out the fernades dragonfly for NMS on any other shows on the last tour besides KROQ? Also does anyone know what model tele Chester was using for Iridescent on the North American tour?

I think that was actually a different model Fernandes than the one he used on NMS during the 2007 in-studio performances, IIRC the first one had a tune-o-matic/stoptail bridge, but the one from KROQ had a string-through-body bridge. But no, I think that was the only show he used it at, unless it was used at BFD too.

As for Chester's Tele, it was a maple-neck model with at least a neck humbucker, not sure if the bridge pickup was a humbucker or a single-coil. I think it was one of these two models:

Classic Player Deluxe Tele - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fen...ar-with-tremolo

Classic Series '72 Tele - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fen...electric-guitar

I think its actually this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fen...c-guitar/h61568 the ones you listed didnt seem right because they had a different pick guard shape, so i literally just searched fender telecaster and that caught my eye.

Epiphone '66 Wilshire reissue - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epi...electric-guitar

Still clueless as to what guitar he's using in the Burning in the Skies video, though.

Damn, looks like a real cool axe, My local store has one apparently so I might go have a little play :)

Also that BITS one looks pretty damn cool.

Can I ask one more question, its Joes gear tho.

Those pad things he has right (I cant remember the name), are they set up at certain cue points. So like when he hits one it will jump to a certain word and if he holds it down it just repeats, you know in the radiance etc.

How would he have that set up?

Ahh, you're right. I thought his had the 4-knob configuration of the '72 models for some reason. His is definitely a Blacktop Tele, the one he plays at Madison Square Garden is silver and I think he has a black one too.

I think on The Radiance and the Savio speech, he actually uses his turntables instead of the trigger pads, that's how he scratches the audio and the video simultaneously. His trigger pads are pretty much just set up for one-shot samples, so he has to hit the button again every time he wants to play the same clip.

Are you sure there samples. It seem to me more to be like cue points set at the start of each word cos the video jumps back to stay in sync. Hence why the video jumps around alot when he strikes the Sample pads.

Those are 4 Korg nanoPADs. Pretty sure he uses them for at least the Oppenheimer speech and parts of the Blackout breakdown, maybe the Savio speech too. It's pretty easy to set that up, at least with Ableton Live (although I'm sure they use ProTools live but I've no idea about that.) You'd have an audio clip of the speech with several different starting points in it and then you assign each of the starting points to a pad. And for the repeats I'm sure he uses the internal note repeat function of the nanoPAD that repeats notes in 8ths/16ths etc. when you hold a pad down.

I googled like 6 Knob Les Paul and just searched through Until I saw a picture of this.

From the screen shot I have of Brad one in BITS, I can defintally match everything, Colour, Knobs and even the pickups!

Pretty damn unique guitar.
