On August 30th, Linkin Park plays in Las Vegas, NV for a warm-up show before they head to Asia in September. However, the day after the Las Vegas show, they are playing what is billed as a "secret show" in Los Angeles. To gain entry you had to donate at least $500 to Music For Relief (who is greatly helping those in need in Japan) for two tickets. Chester appeared on Kevin and Bean on KROQ this morning to announce the location of the show. Chester said before it was going to be at the Mayan, the band was planning on having it at a small club in the LA area. Thanks to LPLive user "lerkid" for pointing this out and filling us in on the location!

The secret show will take place at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles. Holding only 1,000 people, the venue is designed like a Mayan temple.

Who is going to the show from LPLive? Do you guys think the band will do anything different for this show or will it be a normal set like they played in Europe this past tour?

For all of the 2011 tour dates, click here.

EDIT: Check out a video of Mike and Dave announcing the venue!

I hope they will change something in the set...i want With you in the set (Mike says that it has chance to return and chester says that is an hard song in the last chat...maybe they tried to replay it??? ahah)...also the return of Points of Authority would be awesome!!
But I think that the band will play a normal set with the same songs of the last tour...maybe Blackout or Burning in the skies will be played...

That looks like a really cool venue, would love to go to a show there someday if I could. I hope they play something cool at this show, since it's a show for people that donated and helped raise a lot of money for MFR.

I know it won't happen but this show is an ideal opportunity for the guys to pull out some old songs. They always get concerned with crowd members not knowing all the songs, but at this venue the crowd will be hardcore lp fans only.

Even if we never get to hear them, the crowd will be in for a treat at least. And with what is required to get tickets, the people there deserve to get a treat.

If I wanna hear them I can just put the cds on.lol

personally i believe LP owes it to the fans to play some of the hardcore fan favourite songs. $500 is a lot and i know it's for a good cause, but that's even a better reason to reward fans for getting involved.
I know they wont play any old non singles and it will most probably a kick ass show because of the size just my opinion...

I was fortunate to raise over $550 and have at least 10 different people donate to my cause. I expecting big things from their setlist that night. (big things as in older HT, maybe the hip-hop medley [i would die if this happened], or ATS in its entirety). I'll be able to post the setlist when i get back from the show.

The problem with LP since 2009 is that they've become too predictable and they're too comfortable like that to want to change anything. They can't use the bullshit excuse to 'just play singles cause not everyone knows who we are/is into us, we've only been around ten years and are the biggest selling rock band of the 21st century, but hey they won't know who we are.'
I hate bitching about them as they are my favourite band but I'm already pretty sure I'll not bother with the next touring cycle because I dont wan't to see the same songs once again and no doubt the price will be £50+ and god knows what in the US and it's just too much to see the same main backbone of a setlist you saw last time round it's kinda disrespectful in a way :/
Anyway back on point ideal show for older songs that got them where they are today or indeed ATS in full but I don't think that will ever happen now - they've had ample time to prepare and haven't done so not getting my hopes up. But seriously everyone going deserves something special for that effort and I guess if you're you may get issho ni or not alone but to be honest I would hate to see either live :/

Lol. Complaining about them playing the same set over and over again, but "If they would play this and this new song, I wouldn't like it either!". Find the mistake. People are complaining about setlists too much, I know I will enjoy the show just as much when seeing them again, no matter if they change the set up or not. It simply doesn't matter to me.

Anyway, I agree that people who are going to the "Secret Show" deserve something special/different. And it would indeed be the perfect event to play ATS entirely, although I'm sure that so called "hardcore fans" wouldn't be happy with that either.

Have fun everyone who's going, you deserve it.

i'm sorry but just like tax payers, whom finance a country, have the right the complain when things are not as they want. We the fans who basically finance LP have the right to complain when they for no good reason give us the same stuff over and over and over again. I am against album complaints because they should do what they want, but when it comes to live shows the FANS whom pay and show up should get what they want. Even if it is just one or two songs.
Hardcore fans is what every band needs to get mainstream attention, without us they would still be an internet band, so giving something small like an old song or two should be no problem for them. Why it is is beyond me....

You got me wrong ^^ Of course he can complain (although I still don't see the point), but I just thought it was funny to say "I want you to play a special song. But not that, that or that!" People will always complain - they can play a 'special' song and people will still say "I wanted another one!". That's all I've been saying.

yeah i get that, but if we blindly go with the current setlists we will give them the idea that we enjoy the same songs at every show. I mean complaining git APFMH played again.

i think you guys take it too serious. really. i for one do enjoy the same songs at every show, although of course there are a lot of songs I would die for to hear live. i just don't get that whole complaining thing. concerts arent about the played songs for me. if they play stuff they dont enjoy just because we want it no ones gonna be happy either. but thats just my opinion.

yeah complaining is rather futile and useless, but some people are just frustrated that they have to see the same show every time they go. LP had gone gone a bit too deep into the mainstream IMO. A lot of BIG bands mix up their setlists and give fans some good songs that they want.

Now for festivals and concerts like those i don't mind a generic setlist that much, but when it comes to smaller events and specials events where mostly hardcore fans attend it just baffles me how they still spit out the same singles junk setlist. Just play those songs ONCE at some event where they shoot a proshot. Is that really so much to ask? Apparently it is...
