Ok thanks for the warning

it was just a request :)

we are trying to avoid from "questions threads" unless we know/think that is gonna be a long discussion.

as far as I know - Kill The Flies is NOT a Grey Daze demo.

there are two rips, Sean Dowdell And His Friends - 3:20 and "Grey Daze" 3:27. the Grey Daze "version" sounds a lot better. i guess this is why people think it's another version.

Did a quick check and every version I've found (regardless of length/band name) sounds the same to me. This is the first time I've even heard it suggested that there was a second recording of that song...

I think I know what he's talking about, there was a really bad "first" rip of the SDAHF songs. I think the 2nd and better version came out around the time the other Grey Daze demos popped up, maybe that's why they are mistaken for Grey Daze.

This was really a long time ago, I have a rip from 2006. wasn't Painted Pictures "new" at some point, cause it was missing from the first rip or something like that.

I've never listen to that 3:27 version, such a big difference. It's obviously longer because of the silence at the end.

Don't trust the LPA wiki too much, everytime I stumble upon it when I research something it's either not helpful or some of the info is clearly wrong.

I remembered it being the other way around, that Painted Pictures was around for a while before the other two tracks were. Then again, I might just be getting it confused with that old Stone Sour track that was going around labeled as Painted Pictures for a while before the real SDAHF demo popped up.

Sounds about right to me what you just said. But where is this other Kill The Flies from? Did it come out with the other Grey Daze demos?

if someone remember where these demo released, we can check there.

If I remember correctly, Sean confirmed that Killing Flies is SDAHF song only. Nothing to do with Grey Daze.

Ladies and gentlemen,

LPA'ers, LPF'ers, LPFuse'ers, LPConnectors and the entire LP community,

nkramar presents the Grey Daze demos!

Kill the Flies is now available, as well as Commit and Come On!

Click Here for Info on them and downloads (http://www.lpcollectors.com/greydaze/greydaze.html)

Chester has authorized the downloads of these himself, even saying he might download them too! :D They have never been released before and were considered VERY rare!

The demos:

Sean Dowdell And His Friends - Kill The Flies - hosted by LPA

Grey Daze - Commit - hosted by LPC

Grey Daze - Come On - hosted by LPF

Source.

and Here, Nearby released by LPFuse in 2006.

so probably the other version of Kill the Flies is from the full Sean Dowdell And His Friends? cassette rip. sounds likely to me.

Yes, thanks for your time.

One small question - did 'Kill The Flies' song had anything to do with Grey Daze? Some people say that there was some kind of demo tape that included some Grey Daze demos (probably Commit and Come One) as well as 'Sean Dowdell and his Friends' track - Kill The Flies. I tend to believe, that 'Kill The Flies' was only released on SDAHF 3-track tape, and was never again used with Grey Daze tracks anywhere.

Sean:

kill te flies was from SD and His Friends and 3 songs on that tape were, Painted Pictures, God's Afraid, and Kill the Flies. nothing to do with Grey Daze

Commit and COme on were from another demo tape from Grey Daze

it was not used in Grey Daze

The 3:20 version is from the full cassette rip with all the 3 songs. Too bad I never downloaded all the songs back then, just Here Nearby.

you can still find the same files now.. Edited by Skipees

I have all of these files, including the 3:27 Kill The Flies. I sent it to Jonas just now. There is just about 10 seconds of silence at the end. Same song. Not multiple versions.

LPA release is 128kbps and the cassette rip is 256kbps, but the LPA release sounds a lot better.

there are two rips, not two versions. i think LPA got their file from Jonathan Krause, and that's the reason.
