Chester Joins Stone Temple Pilots

In a move that has caught seemingly everyone from the Linkin Park fanbase to the Stone Temple Pilot fanbase to music fans in general off guard, Chester joined the Stone Temple Pilots on stage at the 2013 KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA as the lead singer for the band. The band was the "surprise guest" of the show, similar to what Foo Fighters did to Linkin Park in 2011 at the show - showing up and playing unannounced as a surprise. A timed release of a brand new song "Out Of Time" to KROQ followed the performance, with STP issuing a press release and Chester even confirming that he hasn't left Linkin Park.

KROQ.com adds: "If seeing is believing, the audience at Weenie Roast 2013 definitely left as believers in the power of music. The unbelievable magic of the night was doubly-amplified after all the amazing sets earlier when sonic swamis of alt-stadium rock, Stone Temple Pilots, brought Chester Bennington from Linkin Park out as a featured vocalist."

SETLIST:
01. And with that, the venue exploded as Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington turned and leaped into action, filling in on this night for the recently fired Scott Weiland."

Edit: Chester has confirmed that he is now the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park.
Exclusive: Chiba, JP 2011-09-11 (FLAC)

It's May and that means it's time for another LPLive media release!

Quoting what I said on the Chester IEM release last month, "if you're a collector of live audio from Linkin Park's live career, you'll know that some of the best shows are the ones from Japan. Tokyo 2001, Tokyo 2003, Yokohama 2003, Osaka 2006, etc."

For this exclusive, we decided to post the full recording from Linkin Park's night 2 in Tokyo on September 11, 2011. This show was a part of LPU Summit #5, which encompassed both shows in Tokyo (specifically Chiba). The Chester IEM contains songs from night 1 (which we will release soon), but this is the full night 2 show. LPLive staff member [AndOne] calls this, in his opinion, the best recording of the A Thousand Suns World Tour. And I agree completely.

If you were following the tour in September 2011, you'll remember that the big highlight from this show is 'Bleed It Out' with the 'No Roads Left' bridge. Mike sang verse 1 and the chorus of 'No Roads Left' over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' and then the band went into their usual 'A Place For My Head' portion of the bridge after that. After being rehearsed in 2008 and rumored to join the setlists on Projekt Revolution 2008, 'No Roads Left' (a bonus track on Minutes To Midnight) never ended up being played live and the band later said that it was because the song never "sounded right" to them in a live setting. This show in Tokyo and the following show in Yokohama were the only two times that Mike sang part of 'No Roads Left' live!

The show page for this performance can be found here.

SETLIST:
01. The Requiem (Speech Scratch Intro)
02. Faint (Ext. Outro)
03. Lying From You
04. Given Up (Ext. Outro w/ Extra Note)
05. What I've Done (Outro Keyboard Transition)
06. No More Sorrow (Long Intro)
07. From The Inside (Long Intro)
08. Jornada Del Muerto
09. Waiting For The End
10. Burning In The Skies
11. Numb (Short Keyboard Transition Outro)
12. The Radiance (w/ Keyboard & Catalyst Vox)
13. Iridescent
14. Fallout
15. The Catalyst
16. Shadow Of The Day
17. In The End
18. Bleed It Out (Ext. Intro; Ext. Bridge w/ NRL verse 1 + chorus and APFMH verse 1 + bridge; Ext. Outro)
----------------------------------------------------
19.
[DL] 27.04.2001 Miami, FL DVD (Master Upgrade)

In between the Deftones' European Tour in March 2001, where Linkin Park opened the tour, and Ozzfest in June 2001, Linkin Park played a short "US-to-Europe Tour" which included a mix of headlining shows across the globe and about ten festivals. One of these festivals was Zeta's Bonzai Show in Miami, FL at the Bayfront Amphitheatre.

Sometimes recordings from shows surface after three or four years, but in this case, lp_bartek and I were able to obtain the master upgrade of the Miami show from April 27, 2001 straight from the taper. We aren't sure of the exact setlist for this show as he unfortunately only recorded about 23 minutes of the set. However, the show page does have what we know about the show (the seven songs that were recorded plus a guess at the setlist).

This is the infamous show where Chester jumped on top of a porta potty mid-show and luckily this moment is captured in the recording since it occurs during 'Points Of Authority'! Overall the band is very energetic at this show, the crowd is good, and Jared from (hed)p.e. even comes out on 'One Step Closer'!

DOWNLOAD (DIME) | 3.71 GB (Registration needed)

Enjoy!

Places With Long Gaps Between Shows

With the addition of a show in the Philippines, we wanted to create a post about countries that have gone the longest period of time between Linkin Park shows. This is what we came up with:

Belgium 2001-2011 (10 years)
Malaysia 2003-now (10 years)
Mexico 2002-2012 (10 years)
Philippines 2004-2013 (9 years)
Scotland 2004-now (9 years)
Indonesia 2004-2011 (7 years)
Netherlands 2001-2007 (6 years)
Brazil 2004-2010 (6 years)

And of course, there are countries that haven't been fortunate enough to get a show by the band yet, such as India, Lebanon, Vietnam, Serbia, Luxembourg, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, etc. The band is still making its way to new places each touring cycle though: Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Turkey during the MTM Touring Cycle, Argentina, Chile, United Arab Emirates, and Israel during the ATS Touring Cycle, and Romania and Ukraine so far on the LIVING THINGS Touring Cycle.

One thing worth mentioning is that Sweden is the only country in the world that has had MORE canceled shows by Linkin Park than shows PLAYED by Linkin Park. In 2001, 2003 and 2008 they had canceled shows (one each of those years), while the band managed to play the country in 2007 and 2011.

Lastly, there are states in the USA that the band has either never played or hasn't been to in a while. Besides Alaska and Hawaii, Linkin Park has never played in Delaware, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wyoming.

While Iowa was fortunate enough to get four shows in 2000, one in 2001 and one in 2003 (six in four years), the band has not returned since 2003. Here are a list of those states that haven't had a show in a while:

Rhode Island 2001-now (12 years)
Alabama 2001-now (12 years)
Mississippi 2001-now (12 years)
South Carolina 2001-now (12 years)
Louisiana 2003-now (10 years)
Montana 2003-now (10 years)
South Dakota 2003-now (10 years)
Idaho 2003-now (10 years)
Iowa 2003-now (10 years)
Arkansas 2004-now (9 years)
Oregon 2004-now (9 years)

We hope you enjoyed these stats!

Where did the remixes go?

When the LIVING THINGS preorder went live on linkinpark.com, many of you opted in for the subscription to receive "LIVING THINGS REMIXED." With this remix subscription, you were to receive one remix for each month the next 8 months starting with June 2012. That would put the end date at January 2013. However, only seven months worth of remixes were released, as documented in our thread from June here.

Remixes released include:
'BURN IT DOWN (RAC remix)' (June)
'BURN IT DOWN (Paul Van Dyk mix)' (July)
'BURN IT DOWN (Swoon Remix)' (August)
'UNTIL IT BREAKS (Datsik Remix)' (September)
'ROADS UNTRAVELED (Rad Omen Remix feat. Bun B )' (October)
* Also the band had a fanmade remix 'BURN IT DOWN (Bobina Remix)' that they wanted to share for this one.
'UNTIL IT BREAKS (Money Mark Remix)' (November)
'POWERLESS (Enferno Remix)' (December)

This would put the number of remixes released at 7 (with an additional fan mix as a bonus). That is of course 8 remixes, but at the end of the December email, it said:
"Thanks for your support. Look for another remix next month."

Additionally, the 'LOST IN THE ECHO' remix contest from September 2013 had this listed as one of the prizes for not only the Grand Prize Winner, but the Popular Vote Winner as well: "Have their remix released to Linkin Park fans who had pre-ordered LIVING THINGS"

This means TWO 'LOST IN THE ECHO' remixes (one of them being the "Dual Personality Mix" and the other being the "Soundcrafters Remix") are missing from the LIVING THINGS REMIXED subscription as well as one final remix for January 2013.

Clips of additional LIVING THINGS remixes are still appearing in new LPTV episodes, most recently with a 'CASTLE OF GLASS' remix appearing in the Australia Part 2 episode of LPTV from April 29th.

What happened to these remixes?

Shortly after the Rock im Park 2012 show, BR in Germany broadcasted three songs from the show on TV - 'LIES GREED MISERY', 'Points Of Authority' and 'Waiting For The End'.

On April 26th, 2013 they randomly decided to show another hour of the show:

01. Given Up
02. Faint
03. From The Inside
04. Somewhere I Belong
05. Numb (video screen visuals)
06. LIES GREED MISERY
07. Waiting For The End
08. Breaking The Habit (video screen visuals)
09. LOATR/SOTD/Iridescent (Ballad Medley)
10. BURN IT DOWN
11. What I've Done
12. New Divide
13. In The End
14. Papercut
15. One Step Closer

Unfortunately, 'Bleed It Out' with the proposal was not shown but luckily we now have sixteen songs (these 15 plus 'Points Of Authority') from this show. However, you can now download this second broadcast below. Be sure to grab it quickly as it is possible while the links are hot, as the download technically could get pulled from DIME.

Also, a huge shoutout goes to Thomas Eger for having his flag (featuring the Linkin Park fansites, including LPLive) featured on stage at not just this show, but Rock am Ring too! Nice!

Show page

TORRENTS:
720p (.ts) (via lp-bits)
720p (AVCHD disc) (via DIME)
DVD-5 (via DIME)

Enjoy!
